Chapter 266: Sis Knows Him Too (part one)

"Did I agree to it? Tell me who it is! How could Duke turn a blind eye to this?" Edward had always regarded Leena as a younger sister. In those lonely years, she was the only one to make him feel warm, like he was with family. So he was furious to hear her news, not at her but the guy who had married her so suddenly.

Well, sis knows him too. He and sis are at the same military base. His name is Kevin." Leena lowered her eyes, afraid to look at Edward. To her, Edward was even more frightening than her brother.

"What? Kevin? Him?" Edward was surprised. 'Doesn't he like Daisy? Why did he suddenly marry Leena? Is he taking revenge on me by hurting the people around me because he can't get the woman I love?' he thought.

Edward, if this guy's real, that means Leena's telling the truth." Rain had thought it was a joke at first, but seeing Edward's reaction, he knew that Leena was serious, she had really gotten married.

"Did you meet him while you were visiting the military base?" Edward ignored Rain and kept his eyes on Leena.

"No, we met before. Last time at the base was just a chance meeting." Leena left out the part that all this had started with a one-night stand. That would be embarrassing. What's even more embarrassing, she had come on to Kevin first.

"Does he love you? Marriage's a huge deal. How could you be so reckless?" Edward didn't believe that Kevin married Leena for love -- but a marriage without love would only end in misery. Edward hated to see Leena get hurt. She was spoiled by everyone around her. Edward didn't want to see someone else take her happiness away.

"Edward, " Leena said. "Please don't worry. I've thought it over, and I'll be happy, " said Leena. She wouldn't have agreed to marry Kevin if she didn't like him at all, though she did it partly because she had been mad at Duke. Rain couldn't keep silent anymore. He was dying to find out who was so bold as to marry the beautiful spoiled Leena, who was so much fun. Now that she was married, he thought she wouldn't be often around anymore. He felt sad at the thought. "Who is this guy? Have I met him?"

"Yes, you have. He's the one who fought with Luke at the City of Night Romance." Edward looked at Leena, worried. 'How would she feel if she knows the guy she married has a thing for Daisy? Would she be crushed? Kevin, you'd better not marry this girl for revenge. If you hurt Leena, you hurt me. You hurt Leena, I hurt you.'

"Him? He fought well and is good-looking, but still can't compare to me. He didn't ask permission to marry our Leena! Time to teach him some manners." Rain gave a sinister smile, which Leena had never seen before. It scared her. 'Who says Rain is mild and easy-going? He's just as bad as Edward and Duke. Kevin, you're on your own. Right now, I can't even save myself. Let alone putting in a good word for you.'

"Rain, it's not his fault. I wanted to marry him." Leena explained, trying to defend Kevin. She thought although Kevin proposed first, nothing would have happened if she hadn't started it.

"Kiddo, are you on his side already? You're making excuses for him!" Rain's voice rose. He felt extremely uncomfortable to think that a stranger had married Leena whom he loved like a little sister. But the silly girl was still protecting him, which made Rain want to kick his ass even more.

"Leena, how do you feel about him? Do you love him?" asked Edward. This was the most important question, so he must find the answer. If she did love him, she was destined to be hurt. If she didn't, at least she wouldn't be in too much pain.

"I'm not sure yet. But don't worry. He's really good to me." Leena had anticipated that they wouldn't let it go easily, but she hadn't expected their questions to be so thorough. She didn't dare to tell the truth. The situation was bad enough for her. Telling the truth would only make it worse.

Edward frowned and didn't say one more word. Kevin's motive was bothering him. He was trying to figure it out. To avoid Daisy? To forget Daisy by marrying another woman? He was worried, because either of the two reasons would hurt Leena.

"Fine. We won't bother him. Let's eat, " said Edward. But he was actually thinking otherwise. Maybe they would find a time to discuss martial art skills with him, during which he might get hurt if he wasn't good enough to fight them. Who knew?

Leena didn't believe Edward, but she didn't know what to say to convince him. She lowered her head to eat and prayed Kevin wouldn't be hurt too badly. Her brother would have hit him days ago if her father hadn't come back home in time. And now these two. It seemed a fight was inevitable.

Rain didn't think Edward would accept Kevin so easily, because Edward cared about Leena even more than he did. He knew Edward was just comforting her and planning something secretly, so he kept silent.

It was suddenly very quiet at the dinner table, because everyone thinking about something. Leena was usually lively and quirky. But now she was observing everyone with her head lowered. She sighed inside and thought, gosh! The interrogation was finally over! I was about to cry.

As a matter of fact, Kevin was the one to cry. She had left the phone on the back seat of the car and didn't remember it until she boarded the plane. Nothing would have happened if she hadn't been so forgetful. Unfortunately, Kevin was the victim.

After dinner, Edward asked Luke to investigate the matter Leo had mentioned the day before. It was unbelievable that Daisy wasn't Leo's biological daughter. He decided to find out the truth.

Mr. Mu, since it was a long time ago, it might take some time, Luke answered. He sighed and felt sorry for Daisy. Things about her were getting more and more complicated. He was worried about the result. If what Leo had said was true, the truth would be like a knife stabbing Daisy in the heart. What could be more painful than knowing she was conceived while her mom was having an affair with another man?
