It had taken a while to get a pouting upset Theodore out of their chamber. But it went easy especially with the prospect of him seeing off Lord Silas. Why her son had taken such a quick liken to the man, she doesn't know.
Lucinda held an excited Theodore hand as she opened the door to her office again.
She stared at the dully lit room infront of her. Empty. The bag was there on the cushion couch. Theodore skipped in ahead of her.
"Mama you said he would be here waiting for us. Has he left so soon" Even she wanted to know.
"Come Theodore. Lets go look for him"
Lucinda took the bag and held her son hand as they went out the room.
"What about darling" Theodore said as she closed the door.
"What?!" Lucinda asked staring down at Theodore as they walked down the hallway.
"A name to call my new papa"he announced proudly.
"Theodore..." Lucinda sighed.
"Other couples have endearing names. You even have one for me. Why not give one to papa".
He didn't wait for Lucinda to speak before he started suggesting more names.
Lucinda ears were assaulted with more sugary names as they went in search of Lord Silas.
They had met Silas half way down a hall.
As he saw them he gave a smile. "I was just coming back to the room" he rubbed the back of his head.
"Where were you?"
"Just talking a stroll around awaiting you. Didn't know you'll be back so soon—i see you got my bag there. Thank you" he took the bag from her grip.
Theodore ran to Silas then griped the side of his pants as he look up at him. Silas looked down at the child.
"Theodore wanted to escort you as you take your leave"
"How gentlemanly of him" he praised earning a giggle from Theodore.
Theodore didn't wait for his mother. He gripped Silas hand and pouted up at him.
"Do you really have to go. You can stay and play with me and mama"
Silas looked up at Lucinda in question her hard stare told him to shut it down. He could defy, but he decidedly he has troubled her enough for one day.
"Lord Silas here really has to go. He got important things that require his attention for a man of his standing"
"Right Lord?" there was an edge to it.Daring him to refute.
"Right" he confirmed the lie. At Theodore deflated expression he added.
"I'll be back soon of course"
"What? No" Her objection was drown out by Theodore squeals of joy.
Theodore held Silas hand and lead him downstairs.
"Really?..."
"When? Tomorrow? The day after?" Theodore continued to question till they reached the front door, leaving a much shock striken Lucinda trailing after them.
"Lord Silas. No need to rush. You can come for a visit when you are done with your other obligations" she said casually but with an insistence, as he turned to them.
"It seems your mother worry for me already" Silas said with a smile down at Theodore.
Lucinda looked at the two gentlemen obviously ignoring her opinion.
Lucinda rushed to the side of the door took something out of a basket and the corner and pushed it into his hand. "It is no much worry" she had a strained smile as she pushed the umbrella and his now dried clothes into his hands.
"Well i would need to return the umbrella-"
"Keep it. We have no lack of it"
As they spoke unknowingly at a corner leading to a hall where the kitchen was people were mumbling watching them. It was the maids.
"That's him." Lucy said.
"Argh my prince" the scrawny maid fawned.
"He's not a prince. And I can't see him".
"Like you've seen a prince before. We don't know who he is?" Cassie said spitefully to sarah words.
The all huddled at the corner trying to get a good look at the gentleman talking to their mistress but truly they couldn't see him from here and from this angle.
"Do you guys want me to see him or not!" Sarah said impatiently straining her neck to catch a glimpse at the man's face.
"Hey watch it you're dragging my hair!"
"Stop putting your weight on me fatso.." they were screeching at each other.
"Hush now or they'll hear us" Cassie said.
Truly with all their impatience noises in the rather almost silent hall Lucinda picked up on them.
"It been a pleasure to have you here" Lucinda said to Silas In finality, now gesturing for him to leave behind Theodore.
She opened the door for him. The cool wind pushed in and she pulled Theodore the side to shield from the harsh wind as Silas exited the door before turning to them once more.
"Truly i enjoyed my stay here" he bent to kiss her gloved hand before straightening. In a fluid movement he had the umbrella high on his head. The wind wiping their hair all around them.
"I look forward to seeing you again. The both of you. Take care Lucinda" His deep voice was clear over the whispering wind, his eyes closed in his smile.
He turned away then. Theodore waving after him and Lucinda staring at the wide expanse of his back as he walked down the stair.
Silas subtly cast his gaze to the side at the far end corner of the mansion. He could sight someone watching. The person cower as if feeling his gaze.
What he said to Lucinda wasn't true. We wasn't strolling around the halls if her mansion, exploring each ground. He had went to visit the idiot that had the audacity to taint Theodore mind with their vile act. He also found out the vile fool was a father. Disgusting indeed.
Remembering the shivering and begging imbecile his mouth turned sore in disgust. A good little scare was enough to do the trick. The man won't be getting a good sleep for days on end. At that thought under the shade of the umbrella his lips curled back in a sinister smile as he heard the door shut behind him, his evil aura now permitted the air freely as he walked towards his carriage.
