30. The escape

[Attribute shift: On activation, user can pull up to 20% points from Strength and pour them into Agility. The process is reversible by returning the point to strength. The ability remains for 5 minutes and after that is a cooldown of another 15 minutes]

On top of the additional stats provided by the advanced boots, it also had an active skill that allow a temporary increase in agility by sacrificing strength.

"System, from the free attribute use add 10 to agility". Abraham commanded the system to use some of his free attributes.

Abraham's momentum came to a stop when his back hit a wall of rock. The right shoulder of Abraham was swollen from the punch and many places of his clothes were torn. Instead of looking at his injuries, Abraham immediately got up and started sprinting back toward the mountain he was previously on. He also immediately activated the skill of the boots.

Abraham's strength was 51 with the stat from the gauntlet and after the active skill, it became 41. In return, his agility got boosted to a whopping 80. Abraham had to make most of the 5 minutes to escape the beast.

When running, Abraham could feel the danger closing on him. The noise of falling trees gave Abraham an indication of the beast's position. During his run, Abraham never for a moment turn his head to look at the beast. He was giving all his attention on his escape route.

"One minute has gone Abraham. It seems that the beast's agility is around the same as yours." Abraham had asked the system to inform him when each minute passed. Seeing that the gap between them was still not enough, Abraham decided to another 10 attributes into his agility increasing it to 90. He had only 12 free attribute points left.

Abraham felt like he was doing parkour. He was jumping, sliding, and even running sideways on the wall of rocks.

At first, the adrenaline rush Abraham felt was from the dangerous situation, but now, he was feeling excited. Of course, he knew that he was still not a match for the demigod beast but even escaping one was a great exploit.

The demigod was not leaving Abraham's pursuit even though it was not able to catch up. Abraham first thought that the demigod would give up after some time but even after three minutes had gone by, the demigod was still on his tail. He had to think of another plan before the twenty percent increase from strength to agility was over.

"System, use my skill point to unlock the skill Shadow Travel".

[Skill unlocked: Shadow Travel]

[Shadow Travel: Allows the user and accompanied ones to spatially travel through shadows as one unit. The user and accompanied ones will sink into the user's expanded shadow, leaving a pool of shadow that moves through physical objects to reach the user's intended destination. Within this pool, occupants will feel the acceleration, but be unable to see. The longer the skill is implemented and/or more accompanied, the faster MC decreases in proportion. Because the skill uses the shadow as a medium, non-physical methods can have the chance of interrupting the skill and damaging those inside, if possible.]

Abraham climbed the mountain as fast as possible until he reached a cliff at the very top. He reached the end of the cliff and turned his back to face the demigod beast. In the lapse of a second, the beast came and stopped around 10m in front of Abraham.

The blue color beast was huge. It had fur on its back and on its head, and it had two long ears.

Abraham started launching the 3rd stage Qi in the direction of the beast, but the latter was quick and even though it could not see the attack, it decided to evade it. The Ursa then charged toward Abraham intending to finish him. The whole action was happening extremely fast and as soon as Abraham saw the beast coming in his direction, he activated his newest skill.

[Shadow Travel]

Abraham immediately sank into the shadow under his feet while the Ursa completely missed him and in turn fell off the cliff. Abraham reappeared some distance away from his initial position. Without wasting any time, he started to run in the opposite direction of the cliff reducing any possibility that the demigod beast could reach him again.

The Attribute shift skill got deactivated and Abraham's agility was reduced back to 80. Abraham still continued to sprint until finally, he heard a notification.

The rewards brought Abraham to a full stop. If he knew the quest would have rewarded him with half the free attributes he used, then Abraham would have used everything. As for the second reward, he spent it on his blood bank and shadow control raising both to level 3.

After the event, Abraham decided to return to Earth.

After another three weeks, Abraham was back at the fallen settlement on planet Pioletic. The return journey was quicker as Abraham did not waste any time fighting basic-tier beasts. This time instead of going to the storage building, he went toward a stadium. Once inside he started searching each room until he reached the reception room. Once inside, he saw a machine that required a code to operate. Just like with the locked portal, he used his Inspect skill to get the code and unlocked the machine. After he selected some options, a large mechanical sound could be heard coming from the direction of the stadium.

This time when he returned to the stadium, a portal was present on the plain flooring on the arena floor. Out from underneath, a large portal had been lifted and placed there. Approaching the portal, Abraham stopped just a few distances away and observed the portal.

The portal was round with a diameter greater than 4 meters. This particular portal had a red tone waving inside the portal giving a sense of mystery. For a normal human being that was everything worth noting but Abraham could see more. All around the circumference, many strange symbols were written.

While looking at it, Abraham had no clue what the symbol represented but he was having an idea what they were.

"Now I understand how this Richard Eno guy is the only one to be able to make the portal. This is a wonder that humans have lost throughout history but it seems Richard Eno is a very mysterious guy. After all magic circle is a very complex thing." Like always, the system provided Abraham with information that it knew of.

Seeing these, something clicked inside Abraham's mind. He wanted to do something and if he was successful, that would be a game-changer for him.
