Amanda Jenkins felt a looseness in her arms and suddenly woke up to see Lucas Griffin lifting Kent from her embrace.

Just as she was about to speak, Lucas made a silence gesture toward her and carried Kent to the bed.

She hastily stood up and followed behind Lucas.

Gently, Lucas placed Kent on the bed, wiped away the remaining tears from the corners of his eyes, then pulled over the brocade quilt, carefully covering Kent with it.

When he turned around, Amanda walked up to him, flung herself into his arms, and tightly hugged him, bursting into tears on his chest.

Fearing she would awaken Kent, she suppressed her sobs, her delicate shoulders trembling slightly.

Lucas sighed softly and lifted his hands to grasp her shoulders, holding her tightly in his embrace.

Now that his grandfather was gone, he had only Amanda and Kent left.

But soon, he would lose Amanda and Kent as well.
