Painful Love

Erika's words left Chris dumbfounded for a while.

Chris could see the dilemma Erika was in. Before he could comment, Erika bent down and put down her teacup, her eyes shining brightly. 

"Chris, don't worry about me and him. After all, the final result is not in our hands, there is no point in thinking about it. It's getting late now, go home and rest. For the future, please protect Merry for me."

Chris looked at Erika and nodded slightly. "Your words are unnecessary, no matter what the outcome is, you are our sister-in-law!" 

Erika smiled and thanked him. When she had sent Chris out, she stood in the living room downstairs and looked out the window for a long time.

Perhaps, now is the best result.

At first, she put away her decision to leave, because she really couldn't bear to part with Merry.

She had raised the child for so many years, no matter how good she was, she was not so generous as to let Emma take her.
