Chapter 40 : Mommy and Daughter
“I could come with you.” Miles was just far too sweet for his own good. “I don’t like you going to that hospital all alone.”
He came up behind me and pressed my back against his chest. He nuzzled his nose into my hair and breathed in deeply like he was trying to take in more of my scent. His eyes opened and looked at me with equal parts worry and adoration.
There was never a moment when I didn’t feel adored by this man. He always made me feel like his eyes were always on me. I don’t know how he managed to take my breath away every single time but he did.
I placed my hand on top of his and leaned into him. There was never a safer place for me than in his arms. “You do know that I’ve been going to the hospital alone all this time, right?”
“I do,” he kisses my bare shoulder, “and I’ve hated it all the same. I know how hard it is seeing your mom like this and I just want to make it better for you.”
