Take me home

"Watch your language! This is the police station." A police officer shouted to Lin Ye from the side.

Lin Ye immediately shut up and walked over to the desk, "I am Lin Ye, I have come to pick him up."

She pointed towards Chen Xi. The officer asked for her identification card and checked it while asking, "So you are that guys wife."

Lin Ye swallowed, "No i'm not!"

The officer looked at her suspiciously, "Then why does he say that you are. If you are not then you are not allowed to take him away!"

Lin Ye felt her head throbbing. She looked towards Chen Xi. She wanted to deny once more but the officer spoke up once again.

"There is no need to be shy if that is the problem! If you deny your husband like this won't he feel sad?"

Lin Ye almost cried, "But he is not my husband!"

The officer did not believe her, "I really cannot believe young couples these days. Lady, you should not deny your husband in front of people like this!"

Lin Ye did not have any other thing to say. She simply stood there completely dumbfounded.

She looked at Chen Xi with some bitterness. Why was this guy so annoying?

The officer walked up towards Chen Xi and pulled him up, "Sir...sir...wake up, is this the person you were waiting for? Is this person your wife?"

Chen Xi woke up groggily and once he spotted Lin Ye, he could not see anything else.

His girl had always been beautiful, so beautiful that he could not design a word that would perfectly describe her. She had always been the one, no one else but her.

He woke up and staggered, drunk in her beauty. He walked up to her in slow steps and stood in front of her.

In a low voice he confirmed, "She is...the one and only."

He was so close. Lin Ye could smell him but even after a long time she could still not smell the scent of alcohol from him.

If he was not drunk then was he...pretending?

Lin Ye looked at him angrily, "Your wife? Okay then husband how about I take you home right now?"

Chen Xi shuddered, was his plan looked through?

He looked at the officer for some help but Lin Ye beat him to it, "Or husband, you would not mind going to the officer's house for the night right? He is a civil servant, I am sure he will not throw you out!"

The officer coughed from the side while Chen Xi looked around.

He was confused but still happy that Lin Ye had called him 'husband' two times already.

Lin Ye looked at the two of them in anger once more, "I work long shifts and easily get tired, please be considerate next time!"

She then huffed and left.

Chen Xi was dumbfounded for a second and the officer was throwing him silent apologies.

He ran outside to catch up with Lin Ye, "Wifey...let me explain!"

Lin Ye was so mad that she shouted at him, "Explain what? How you have wasted my time by coming here?"

Chen Xi lamented, "I did not have any other option. I told you I did not have any other place to go..."

Lin Ye stopped, "You have a personal assistant, paid your hospital bills in cold hard papers and you are dressed in clothes worth thousands of dollars and yet you have nowhere to go to?"

Chen Xi looked at her but Lin Ye was not done yet. She was so angry that saliva sputtered around when she spoke.

"It is already midnight. I have an early morning surgery that I need to prepare for and just once when I get a chance to go home I get a call from the police about my drunk husband but turns out it is just a stupid lie that you use to get me to come here...!"

"...I am really tired Chen Xi and last of all, I am not your wife. I get uncomfortable when you call me that."

She pulled out a few bills from her pocket and placed them in his hands, "If you don't have a place to go just use that to book a hotel nearby. I am very busy, please don't look for me again!"

Chen Xi felt as if his heart was being cut into pieces. Lin Ye's words were spoken slowly in a soft tone yet each and every word cut through him like thousands of knives.

He watched her back as he left, he could not accept her leaving, not a second time. That would be like breaking the same bone twice!

He walked ahead of her and pulled her in his arms. His arms tightened around her and in a slow voice said,

"Not again Hua...never again. I will not allow you to leave me a second time!"
