Chapter 22: The Best Friends Return!
“Are you excited for your friends to arrive?” Lucas asks, he looks on edge, but we haven’t run into Jaggar since the initial meeting. Liam informed us that he was set up to stay in the village, where a couple of palace guards are keeping an eye on his every movement.
“I’m very excited,” I grin happily, trying to change the uncomfortable atmosphere. I jump into his lap and Lucas omits an ’oof’ noise but he chuckles and wraps his arms around me. “All three of them should be here soon! Are you excited?”
“Excited for welcomed guests? Yes, yes I am,” Lucas says and the scowl is back on his face.
“Oh, hush,” I kiss his cheek and down his neck to the spot that I know is ticklish. Lucas squirms, not wanting to laugh.
“Okay, okay. You have officially lifted my mood. You can stop now,” Lucas squirms under me and I relent with a triumphant laugh.
