Chapter 11: A Day to Myself
The bad weather is back again today and the wind is causing the rain to pelt the window noisily. I place my book down when Lucas comes over to kiss me. He stands up too quickly and I grab his tie to pull him back down for another kiss.
“Is there anything you need?” Lucas asks, walking backward away from me as he talks. “Just talk above a normal volume and someone will come running,” Lucas winks at me and I know he’s teasing. I shake my head, rolling my eyes. “I’m kidding. There is a phone in the sitting room that you can use to call any room you need. I left a list of extensions beside the phone. It’s a little new, we just switched from the intercom system.” Lucas grins at me and I laugh.
“I love intercoms,” I say through my laughter. “Go, go. I’m good. I’m going to go explore the Castle.”
“Okay, enjoy,” Lucas smiles at me when he reaches the door. “Oh, and one last thing.”
“Yeah?” I pull my legs to my chest, admiring him in his suit.
