41: That voice

CAMERON's POV

"Everyone, we are actually dating.."

Pagkarinig ko sa mga katagang yon, my eyes almost puffed out of my sockets, shocked with that ridiculous lies!!!!

"WE ARE ACTUALLY WHAT???!"gulat na tanong ko agad rito sabay lingon sa kanya. To this impossible witch beside me!

She just dryly grinned at me saka mas lalo pang humigpit ang pagkakakapit niya sa braso ko, as if sending me a silent message na tumahimik ako.

The hell I will! I have specifically ordered na ayusin niya ang bagay na'to but now, mas lalo lang niyang pinapalala ito!

Mas lalo pang nagkakagulo ngayon ang media dahil sa kalokohang sinabi nito!

"Miss! Miss! Totoo ba yan miss? Are you really dating Mr. Del Fuero kaya magkasama kayong dalawa kaninang umaga?"

Napatiim na lamang ang mga bagang ko pagkarinig ko dun. Trying to stop the urge to shout at everyone that all of that were just a lie!!!

"Miss! Totoo ba yang sinasabi nyo?"

"Miss! Gaano na kayo katagal lumalabas ni Mr. Del Fuero? Ba't ngayon niyo lang naisipang sabihin ang tungkol dito when a sudden issue about Mr. Del Fuero had blown up?"

"We are not----"napatigil nalang ako nang bigla na lamang nya kong hilahin sa braso ko and then tightly hugged me from my fucking sides while sweetly smiling at me,

Dahilan para mapatingin ako rito  with my eyes widened in shock.

For goodness sake!

"Babe! Let me tell them kung ano talaga ang totoo. I know you can't still believe na tayo na! Tayong- tayo na talagaaa!"

I growled more when she exclaimed that with her sweet voice.

I could really strangle her for this!

"We are not---"

"BABE!"

My eyes bulged out when she suddenly cupped both of my cheeks with her hands in a rather slapping way. Then she pasted a sweet smile at me while sending a warning glares at me. A 'try-to-open-that-mouth-then-you're-dead-meat!' kind of glare.

This witch!

"Baaaabe! Wag ka namang ganyan. Wala na tayong magagawa ngayon but to reveal our relationship. Everyone, Wag nyo ng pansinin 'tong si Mr. Del Fuero. Hindi lang talaga ito sanay sa mga ganitong bagay. My man here is just a bit shy so just never mind about him."

Now that made my glare at her intensified while silently cursing under my breath habang pilit na makawala sa mahigpit na pagkakahawak nito sa mukha ko.

I didn't know this woman could tightly hold like this, sing higpit ng alimango kung makakapit.

"Release me now----Thit intant!"hindi ko na masabi ng maayos ang iba ko pa sanang protesta when she suddenly pressed her hands more against my cheeks, stopping me to talk properly with my lips now pouting like a fucking fish!

"Ano ka ba naman baby ko! Okay lang naman to! They just wanted to know kung gaano na tayo katagal na masayang nagdidate so it's okay. It's okay.."

"I am dating no----"

I stopped and then grimaced when she suddenly stomped on my feet hard, stopping whatever I had to say.

This woman!

"Ang cute cute talaga ng baby ko. I think we have to leave now everyone. We still have an appointment to attend to. Bye everyone!" And then with that, agad na nya'kong hinila papasok uli ng elevator while tightly clinging in my arm. A fake smile was still in her face.

Mas lalo pang nagkagulo ang press and even tried to follow us nang paalis na kami. At kahit na gusto ko ng itulak ito and face those people again to take back what she just spouted, I stopped myself and just walked to the elevator with so much aggravation.

Good thing the securities were able to block those people from following us .

When the elevator door had opened, I quickly get into it with her and the moment the door had closed, agad ko ng itinulak ito palayo sa'kin and glared down at him with laser look.

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST DO BACK THERE, MS. JAVIER??!"

I noticed her flinched when I angrily shouted that, but my annoyance for her was just too strong to even mind that.

"MAS LALO MO LANG PINALALA ANG LAHAT BY SAYING ALL THOSE LIES!!"

The woman just pursed her lips then poked her ears with a grimace.

"Do you really have to shout, Mr. Del Fuero? Hindi pa naman ako bingi ano para hindi ko marinig lahat ng sasabihin mo!"

Mas lalo pang tumindi ang pagkakatiim ng mga bagang ko when I heard that from her.

This---This woman!! Nagagawa niya pa talagang sabihin 'yan kahit na gustung-gusto ko ng pilipitin ang leeg nito ngayon!

"And how do you expect me to react from those lies, Ms. Javier? Do you expect me to jump in joy dahil sa ginawa mong 'yon? Dating? That we are dating for goodness' sake??!!!"

Mas lalo pang tumindi ang inis ko when she just gave me a defiant glare.

Goddammit!

"Simple lang naman Mr. Del Fuero! Ginawa ko lang 'yon because you've pushed me to do that!"

"I WHATT???!" Gulat kong tanong rito, can't believe her fucking reason!

"Naririnig mo ba ang sarili mo ngayon, Ms. Javier??! That what? I was the one who pushed you to do such stupid act??! Nahihibang ka na nga talaga!" I barked out while pulling my hair out in utter frustrations.

"Ah! Ako pa talaga 'tong nahihibang ngayon?" She countered with his hands on her hips.

"Eh halos gawin mo na nga'kong manyak sa harapan ng lahat kanina! That I have initiated that kiss---well, totoo naman talaga yon. Slight... But It wasn't as if you haven't enjoyed that kiss!"

At the mention of the kiss, my glare at her intensified. Being reminded with that damn kiss again!

How dare she!

"And then gusto mong sabihin ko sa lahat that I had kissed you first and that all of that was just nothing??? Hell!! You---"

"Because that was the truth!!!" I cut her off, not wanted to hear about that kiss!

Agad namang umasim ang mukha nito when I snapped that. With her face now reddened and nostrils flaring out.

"But then you have no right to publicly announce that I had kissed you! Buti nga't sinabi ko lang na may relasyon tayong dalawa and not you being a bloody bastard! Why don't you just thank me now imbes na magpuputok yang butsi mo diyan?"

"Huh! Pasalamatan?? Are you nuts??" Napapailing na sagot ko sa kanya, can't believe she'd really say that!

"Though I'd like to say I love peanuts, Mr. Del Fuero but no. I am not!"

Just hearing that, I can't help but heaved up a deep breath and massage my temple out of frustrations.

For the love of God! Nagagawa niya pa talagang maging pilosopo sa sitwasyon na'to!

"I have done my part with our deal, Mr. Del Fuero. At kahit hindi mo'yon maappreciate ngayon, alam kong pasasalamatan mo rin ako sa ginawa kong 'yon. So now, why don't you do your part of our deal? Help me with my case." demanding na saad nito sabay kibit balikat.

That made me scoffed at her in utter disbelief while shaking my head off.

"After what you've done back there, tingin mo ba talaga gagawin ko pa 'yang hinihingi mo, Ms. Javier? Tingin mo ba talaga gagawin ko 'yon after you've complicate everything at gawin akong katawa-tawa sa mata ng lahat?! We're dating?? Really?? That was your idea of fixing those mess?"

I faked a laugh at that and shook my head. Causing her face to instantly turned sour.

"Everyone knows that I take no interests to any woman kaya sa tingin mo, anong sasabihin ng media after you've foolishly announced that we're dating, Ms. Javier??? The wedding date??!"

"Whatever they will say, wala na'kong pakialam sa kanila! They should be contented with my news! We've already kissed kaya sapat na'yon to support my lies!"

"WHAT??!"

Nababaliw na nga talaga ang babaeng 'to!

She just raised her brow habang kibit parin ang mga balikat nito.

"No more what,what,what, Mr. Del Fuero. It's your turn now to return the favor. Ginawa ko na ang pinagagawa mo kahit na ayoko---"

"No."

SAM's POV

My scalp instantly prickled up hen he cut that off.

This maggot!

"Anong ibig sabihin mo??"I asked with gritted teeth.

"That means hindi kita tutulungan, Ms. Javier so kept dreaming! You've ruined my life so how could I possibly help you now?"

I think all my blood had rushed to my head when he'd bloody said that.

Sinasabi ko na nga ba!

"But we have a deal, Mr. Del Fuero! Humarap ako sa press and let my face be plastered all over the news kahit na delikado just because of our deal! Our fucking deal! And now sasabihin mong hindi mo'ko tutulungan??!" I angrily shouted at him, now wanted to punch him on his guts and have his ball roll off to the floor!

"Yes. Humarap ka nga sa kanila kanina pero hindi ko sinabing tutulungan kita sa mga kalokohan mo. It was just you--"sthen he pointed me with his finger na para bang pinagduldulan nitong naging tanga ako to even think that this bastard would even true to his words!

"You are the one who had foolishly assumed na gagawin ko ang ipapagawa mo sa'kin!"

The gall of this bastard! After everything na ginawa ko para sa kanya!

"Then I shouldn't just have come here and even stupidly think that you'd be true to your words!"

"You're right! Mas mabuti nga sigurong hindi ka na pumunta rito.. And I shouldn't have even thought of making a deal with you! Now you better prepare for Max's ire!"

The want to bash his head now on the elevator door escalated.

Now I totally regretted coming back here!

With how hard I had gritted my teeth now, I think it would crack any longer habang mahigpit na nakahawak sa uniform na bitbit ko. And I felt like my chest would explode in no time with how vexed I was.

Kung alam nya lang sana why I've foolishly came here, eh di sana alam ng gagong 'to why I desperately need him---his cooperation rather..

Then why don't you just tell it to him, Sam? Nang malaman naman nito...

Yes. Why not? Nang hindi ko na kailangan pang magpanggap just to be closed to him to get the info I need.

Inhaling deeply, I met his glare with my eyes.

"Tingin mo ba talaga pupunta pa'ko rito just to face those people and embarrassed myself I'm the public kung kalokohan lang yong hinihingi ko sa'yo, Mr. Del Fuero?"

Agad na kumunot ang laging kunot nitong noo when I'd started to say that. And I took that as my chance to continue.

"Tingin mo ba talaga, mag-aaksaya pa'ko ng oras para magpakita sa'yo rito and even return to you the tapes kung kalokohan lang ang lahat ng ----"

"At tingin mo rin ba I gave a damn with all of that? I think mas mabuting umalis kana ngayon dito. I've got no time for your nonsense, Ms. Javier."agad na putol nito sa'kin. And then a 'ding' sound came out. An indication that we've reached the top floor and that this bastard would take his leave now!

There's no way I'd even allow that! Not when I haven't tell him the truth yet!

"Siguraduhin mong magtago ng mabuti after I tell Max about what you did! Hindi ko mapapalampas ang kalokohang ginawa mo sa baba kanina. You'll gonna pay for it." And then with that, he started to take a step when the door had finally opened.

And I'd be dumb if I even allow him.

Before he could even take a step outside, I quickly pressed the closed button beside me and then pressed the first floor button.

Isusumbong pala huh..

"MS. JAVIER!!!!" Agad na sigaw nito when the door had closed.

"What the hell are you doing???!"he growled out like a lion na handa na'kong lapain anumang oras.

I just crossed my arms and ignored his glares.

"Well, I just wanted you to hear me out!"

"You are out of your mind! Hindi kaba marunong umintindi? I said I won't help you kaya wag na wag ka ng magpapakita dito kahit na----"

"Kahit na sabihin ko pang may kinalaman 'to sa ama mo, Mr. Del Fuero? Are you sure you won't still help me with my case?"

Natigilan agad ito the moment I uttered that.

This is the only way I know to persuade him to help me. To tell him about what I found out.

"What nonsense are you spouting now,Ms. Javier?? Bakit nadawit dito si papa??"kunut-noong tanong nito sa'kin after a few moments of his silence, now looking a bit interested with it.

Then Good. Wala ng atrasan 'to...

"I said my case is connected to your father---no.. I think it should be your father and my father were connected to my case because they were closed friends. And though I hated the fact that it was related to your family, but I have to solve this case, Mr. Del Fuero. That's why I need your help. "

His eyes darkened in a second at that.

"Why the hell are you dragging my father into this now, Ms. Javier? Have you finally gone out of your mind now dahil sa kalokohang pag-iimbestiga mo diyan sa kaso ng daddy mo that's why you're even dragging my father into this?!"

This bastard really knows how to easily get into my nerves!

Dahil ayokong patulan ito, I inhaled deeply to calm my nerves though my hands were itching to punch him now.

"Call me whatever you want, Mr. Del Fuero but know that you are more than stupid yourself! You really thought na kalokohan lang ang lahat ng ginagawa ko but it's not! Sinasabi ko lang kung ano ang totoo!"

"That what?? That our fathers were friends and they were connected to your case that's why you need my help kahit na wala---"

"Kahit na wala akong pruweba??" Agad na putol ko rito before let out a scoff of disbelief.

"Tingin mo ba talaga gawa-gawa ko lang ang lahat ng 'to? Do you really think na mag-aaksaya pa'ko ng oras to even come here and even see your face now? No! I've came here dahil sa natuklasan ko! Your father had entrusted some confidential file to my father and that darn file had something to do with my parents death!"

When I spat that with short breath, a surprise look flickered in his eyes habang mas lalo pa itong natitigilan ngayon. 

And when he didn't answered right away and just stared down at me with confusions in his eyes, I chose to break his silence.

"I'm telling you the truth now so whether we like it or not, you were already part of my case. "

"It's not yours to decide kung tutulungan ba kita, Ms. Javier." He growled out with his pursed lips.

"Kahit sinabi mo na konektado si papa sa kaso mo, that doesn't still prove na totoo lahat ng-----"

"The footages...."

His brows instantly creased in confusions when I snapped that.

"The footages from that CD tapes na kinuha ko mula sa kaibigan mo. Nakuhanan ng video na magkausap silang dalawa doon at the same day before our accident... Before that accident more than ten years ago..." I added without taking my eyes from his own and with gritted teeth as  I was still tormented with it.

For a moment, we just stayed like that. Just staring at each others and letting our eyes do the talking.

I know he was trying to read my mind  and sizing me up.

Pero nang mahimasmasan ito, he shook his head saka napapahilamos na lamang ng mukha then turned to his side while loudly blowing out a sigh.

"Let's say you are really telling the truth---"

"I am telling the truth."

"Pwede ba, Ms. Javier! Tumahimik ka nga muna diyan!"

I groaned in disapproval when he shouted that

A gun was really handy at times like this!

I heard him groaned then rested his hands on his hips bago humarap uli sa'kin.

"Pano ka naman nakakasigurong si papa nga ang kausap ng dad mo back then? It wasn't as if---"

"Dahil kung ga'no katigas tignan yang pagmumukha mo, Mr. Del Fuero ay ganun din katigas ang pagmumukha ng taong 'yon. As easy as that."

"What???!"

I groaned in protest nang bigla na naman nyang isigaw yon, almost splitting my eardrums with its intensity.

Goodness with him!

"Pwede ba, Mr. Del Fuero! Hinaan mo nga 'yang boses mo! Have mercy on my poor eardrums!" Napapangiwing reklamo ko sa kanya while poking my ears out.

"Why don't you just give me an answer then?? You know I'm not in a habit---"

"To joke around with you. Yeah, yeah. Alam na alam ko yon." Inis na putol ko rito while kept nodding my head as I already know what he had to say next.

"Why don't you just check the footages then? Nasa sa'yo naman ngayon ang mga tapes na 'yon so that you will know that I wasn't just bluffing you. How 'bout that?"

Hindi agad ito umimik and just kept glaring at me with his jaw kept twitching. Hesitation was visible in his eyes.

Nagkibit balikat lang ako while giving him a challenging look to tell me to go to hell and eat satan's balls.

"I'll---"

He was suddenly interrupted when his phone rang inside his pocket. 

With knitted brows, he fished out his phone and answered that call.

"Max.."

At the mention of that name, my body instantly turned rigid. Alarmed with him now talking with that man.

Shiiit....nalintikan na!

"Your tapes..."

Mas lalo pa'kong nataranta nang sambitin niya 'yon sabay lingon sa'kin...

Oh no, no, no... Kailangan ko ng umalis dito. As in right now!

Though I already told him the reason why I've stolen those tapes, I'm still not sure kung isusumbong ba'ko ng gagong 'to o hindi. At dahil hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin nito, mas mabuti ng sumibat na'ko dito bago pa'ko malintikan dito.

With that thought, my hold at Suzy's uniform tightened as my feet kept stamping on the floor in agitation as I looked up at the digital floor indicator just right above the elevator door.

"Alam ko kung sino ang nagnakaw nun at nasa'kin na'to ngayon, Max.."

Shit again! I was more than eager now to run from there just hearing that.

2...

I prepared myself for a sprint without blinking an eye.

At yon nga, the moment the 'ding' had sounded and the door had opened, agad na'kong kumaripas ng takbo palayo sa kanya sabay suot uli ng cap ko.

"I'll just check it myself-----MS. JAVIER!!!"

Narinig ko pang biglang sigaw nito from the elevator but I didn't looked back and just ran like an addict patungo sa back exit na tingin ko diretso sa likuran ng building na'yon at palayo sa lugar na'yon.

If he want to help me, then he can just call me then. And if not, then I guess I should just find another way.

I quickly wore Suzy's uniform again as I ran outside to conceal my identity from the media.

I just followed the path through the back exit of the building. Buti nalang at hindi masyadong matao sa daanan na'yon so my escape was just an easy one.

Just after I take a few quick turns, I've finally succeeded na makalabas sa lugar na'yon.

Sa mga oras na'to, I'm sure natunton na ng media ang location ng apartment ko so going home now isn't a good thing to do here. And going to Tagaytay isn't an option as well.

Pagkalabas ko sa lugar na'yon, mangilan-ngilan lang ang mga sasakyang nakaparada sa bahagi ng lugar na'yo and I could even hardly detect people around me.

I was able to let out a sigh of relief at that.

Now, it's time to find your way back to your car, Sam.

I pulled down my cap more before I ran to the right. To where I think was the parking lot and my car.

My poor old car----

"You've done a great job, Rico..."

My steps suddenly halted when I happened to heard that voice. That familiar voice which made my breathing suddenly halted as well.

T-That voice!

"We don't have to kill her... She's dying after all..."

When those words echoed through my head again, my nerves began to tremble in an instant as my blood ran cold.

That very voice. .... That voice that kept haunting me until now. And I would never forget that voice and his ring.

Swallowing hard, I quickly turned to that way. Eyes alert and desperate to put a face on that voice.

Mga sasakyan lang ang nandun sa bandang 'yon and a man in suit who was standing outside the car. I couldn't see his face right now as his back was the one facing me but I can tell he was talking with someone inside the car since the car door at the backseat was left ajar. 

With a frown, I started to head to that man's way to check what he was up to.

I can tell he was old by just looking at the few white hairs in his head.

Then my gaze shifted down to his fingers. I couldn't see any ring in his fingers but i was certain that that voice came from that direction. And there were no other people in there but just him and whoever was that in the car right now. 

I know I've heard that same voice just now... I couldn't be mistaken!

Determine to see that man's face, I took a steps towards that man with bated breath. But before I could even take a close look at who was inside the car, bigla na itong isinara and then them old man who were outside quickly open the car door at the driver's seat. And that action gave me a chance to see the side details of his face. 

Mr. Vista!

Nang masino ko na ito, the loud thudding in my chest intensified. I ran to his way in a hope na maabutan ko ito but it was too late dahil nang mga ilang metro nalang ang layo ko sa sasakyan nito, his car had started and quickly drove off from there.

Oh shit! Ano bang ginagawa nya rito?? Hanggang dito ba naman sinusundan parin ako ng matandang 'yon?

I couldn't help but cursed out in annoyance. Kung naabutan ko lang sana ito, maririnig ko man lang sana ang boses ng kasama nito. I could've------

My frustrated thoughts were inerrupted when suddenly, I felt some giant shadow towering over me. 

Groaning out, I took a step backward to see who it was. And when I was greeted with a familiar dark and intimidating of another bastard, I groaned more.

Why do I kept bumping into this species at times like this? At times na busy ako at walang oras sa mga taong 'to?

"I can see you're so stressed out right now, Ms. Javier.

"And I can see you're here to add to that, Mr Enriquez.." I answered with gritted teeth.

He just smirked at me with amusement glinting in his eyes. Today, he's wearing his black suit na sing perpekto ng kay Mr. del Fuero. The only difference from them right now were the look in their faces.

Mukhang masayang-masaya ito ngayon while standing before me with rigid pose and with his clasped hands behind him.

With pointed look, I let out an exasperated sigh.

"Wy are you here, Mr. Enriquez? Anong ginagawa mo rito?"

"Well, I just wanted to see how Cameron was actually doing right now. "He asnwered with a shrug of his shoulder. "By the way, you've done a great job back there, Ms. Javier. Mukhang napaniwala mo talaga ang lahat sa acting mo kanina.."

"And why do you think that was just all an act, Mr. Enrique? Tingin mo ba talaga pagpapanggap lang ang lahat ng 'yon?" Maanghang na tanong ko rito, quite annoyed with him bringing up those topic.

"I know you don't just approached me now on purpose just to talk about my relationship with Cameron del Fuero. Kung anumang pakay mo sa'kin, state your business right away. Marami pa'kong mas kailangang gawin ngayon than have a chitchat with you."

I still have to find that Mr. old-bastard-Vista!

"So hot-tempered, are we?"

"And so feeling closed, aren't you?" I countered back with pointed look, not in a mood to be friendly with him. Dahilan para tumigas ang pagmumukha nito.

Which it doesn't affect me at all.

He straightened up his body then cleared his throat. The indication that he was about to get down to his business.

Good.

"I have an offer for you.." Panimula nito that made my brow to shot up in an instant.

Parang alam ko na kung anong 'offer' ang pinagsasabi nito..

"Offer? At ano naman kayang offer yan? To work for you and spy Mr. Del Fuero?" I scoffed then shook my head at him.

"Alam kong may kinalaman ka sa lahat ng mga nangyayaring kamalasan sa buhay ni Mr. Del Fuero ngayon, Mr. Enriquez at talagang dinamay mo pa talaga ako sa bangayan nyong 'to. I even almost die early when you've tampered his car when we're in Canada and now you're asking me to----"

"It wasn't me."

That made me frowned and looked at him in confusion when he snapped that.

"Anong ibig mong sabihin?"

"Maaari ngang malaki ang galit ko sa gagong del Fuerong 'yon, Ms. Javier but I am not evil enough to do such thing."

The way he had said that, tingin ko nga parang walang kinalaman ang gagong 'to sa insidenteng 'yon.

But nevertheless, he had still dragged me into this dahil sa bangayan ng dalawang 'to!

"But still, nadamay na'ko sa kaguluhang 'to na syang pinakaayaw ko. Kaya kung anuman yang iooffer mo sa'kin ngayon, just forget about it because from now on, I don't want to be acquainted to anyone of you! Not to you and even Mr. del Fuero!" I firmly said with finalty in my voice. And then with that, I wheeled around on my heels to leave.

"I'll gonna pay you triple the price of Mr. Del Fuero's offer, Ms. Javier. Just work for me."

That made me halted with my steps as my eyes instantly rolled upward while resisting the urge to smack his head.

Wala nga talaga itong pinagkaiba kay Mr. del Fuero.

Blowing an exasperated sigh, I turned to his way and pointedly looked at him.

"Alam ko na alam mo kung anong gulo ang naidulot ko kay Mr. Del Fuero so why offer me now to work for you? Gusto mo rin bang mabiyayaan ng 'kamalasan' ko, Mr. Enriquez?"

I expected him to laugh at me nang sabihin ko yon but instead, he just shrugged his shoulder without even moving a single muscle in his face!

Oh shit! How did he bloody do that??!

"Sadyang malas lang talaga ang taong 'yon, Ms. Javier and I'm not." aroganteng sagot nito which caused me to shake my head in disbelief.

"Alam mong minamalas siya dahil sa mga kagagawan mo. That was the real reason so never forget abput that."

Agad na tumalim ang tingin nito sa'kin nang bigla kong sabihin yon. A reaction which tells me that I had hit some nerve.

"Pakana ko man yon o hindi, wala ka ng pakialam dun, Ms. Javier. I'm just here to tell you my offer.."he hissed, now sounding annoyed.

"Hmm,.." I started while pretending I was giving it a deep thought kahit na may sagot na'ko sa offer nito.

"Kahit na nakakatukso yang offer mo but for now, I think I'll just pass for that dahil may mas importanteng bagay pa'kong aasikasuhin sa ngayon at----"

"Ms. Javier!"

Hering that shout, our heads were snapped to where that voice came from and----

My eyes instantly widened in alarm when I spotted Mr. Del Fuero na papalapit sa direksyon namin with his dear old friend on his heels. Atty. Maximilian!

Holy shit!
