As Jack and DL left Dark Feather City behind them, the road stretched out before them, winding through forests and hills as they made their way toward Marin City. The sunlight streamed through the car windows, casting shifting patterns of light on their faces as they drove. Jack kept his hands firmly on the wheel, occasionally glancing over at DL, who seemed unusually quiet in the passenger seat. For a while, the silence was peaceful, but it was clear DL was lost in thought.

"Feels good to be out of there," Jack muttered, more to himself than anyone.

DL shifted in her seat, propping her elbow against the window and resting her chin in her hand. She stared out at the passing trees, a mischievous glint forming in her eyes. After a long pause, she turned to Jack with a grin.

"Hey," she started, a playful tone creeping into her voice, "you know... we've been through a lot lately. Too much stress, too much danger."
