Chapter 5

Back in B city,we arrived at almost the same time as my fathers men with Cheryl and Baddy.We sat on the sofa in their living room with her uncle, grandmother and her cousin facing us.Me,Rean,Cherryl and Baddy are silent and we are just looking down on our feet. Her uncle suddenly stand up and opened the drawer and took out the scissor.Without a word he strode fast to Cherryl and grabbed her hair and cut it off, he didn't stop until it was just so short left of her hair. But Cherryl didn't resist, she just let her uncle cut her hair and she was sobbing.I was startled when I saw it and I tried to stop her uncle but I didn't utter a word when he glared at me fiercely.I sat back and looked at Rean with a regretful looks in my eyes.He wrapped her arm on my shoulder and gave me a reassuring look and whisper on my ear everything will be okay and her hair will still grow again.

After her uncle finished cutting her hair,he slapped her hard three times but he was not contented he took the wooden ruler under the coffee and used it to hit cherryl. I stand up and said uncle please that's enough,stop hitting her. She have her reasons why she did all these things and left,but cherryl interrupted me, you don't have to stop him and explain on my behalf it's okay you can go home now, she said. I said,No...they have to know the reason why you did all these things and fled.Why are you asking her to go? you don't want her to see you be punished?She will stay until we finished.Okay,to be fair with you,i will give you a chance to tell me your reasons, her uncle said.But Cherryl was just silent,she didn't say a single word for atleast three minutes.Her uncle hit her again with ruler and said, so, will you tell me? or do you want to say something? her uncle asked. She just cried and shook her head. Her uncle went out to the back of the house and got a bigger stick.I stood up when I saw it and said no uncle,please no... hear her out at least please...What did she told you her reason of doing all these things?her uncle asked me. I told him exactly what cherryl had told me,her grandma beat her up and June her cousin molested her so many times that's the reason why she did all these and I looked at her cousin eyes but he was flabbergasted and disbelief shown on his face. There was a moment of silence after I said it,every one was shocked and disbelief are all shown on their faces.Her uncle asked after he recovered from shocked,wha... what you said? That's what she told me when she asked me to help her flee.Her cousin stood up and slapped her hard twice. My eyes grew wide open when he did that but before I can utter a word,he asked her,when did I molested you? How will I do that to you? I loved,cared and respected you as my own little sister,how can you say that I molested you? huh? he slapped her again and went to his room.And you believed her? her uncle asked me.Yes,because she showed me her bruises and wounds that grandma caused,i answered. How can I beat her when I'm not around?I went to her auntie's house and stayed there for a night.I just came back home at three pm yesterday,grandma said. Wh... wha... what? I can't utter a complete word in disbelief. I disappoint my family with all her lies.Why did you did you lie to me? I asked her.But she didn't say anything she just sobbed. I trusted you but you lied to me! how can you do this to me?and I made all my family upset and disappointed just to help you and you just lied to me!you just used me! I said yelling at her.I grabbed Rean's hands and went out of their house. When we are far enough from their house I just sobbed on Rean's chest.He hugged me and just let me cry on his chest. He hugged me and ran his hand on my hair and said stop crying now, this will be a lesson to you not to trust too much to a friend.Lets go to your house and say sorry to your family. Stop crying please... she is not worthy being your friend ,he said and he just kissed me on the cheek. Enough okay... he wiped my tears and kissed me again on the cheek.
