A jealous husband

"Let's start the exam. You two can have a seat anywhere you please, so far, it's not near each other."

Without much time-wasting, I took a seat in the front, not for any reason apart from the fact there won't be any difference should I choose any of the seats at the back.

There is no malpractice going on. That's why I don't see the need to go to the back.

The female also sat on the front line, but she took a seat that was five chairs from mine.

"Now you've chosen a position, let's start."

The girl and I folded our hands as we sat waiting for the exam papers to be shared.

"What are you waiting for? Start the exams already, your time has started counting."

"Excuse me ma—"

"How are we to write when there's nothing to write with?" The girl cut right to the chase, perfectly double-crossing me in the processing.

" What?" the woman frowned at us, "don't tell me you don't know how to make use of the computer system."

"How—"

"We know how to utilize one is there's any here, but there's none in this place."

And once again, the girl beat me to the question.

It seems like, in some ways, we are having a competition without being aware of it.

And should that be the case, it's not too difficult to know who the winner of the said competition will be

As I've not made a sentence ever since she came in here.

"My bad. I forgot this is your first time being in this school." The examiner's facepalmed," please press on the little circle in the middle of the table, and start your exam proper. "

We did as she said, and a computer system just materializes from the flat board of the chair I was sitting on.

It felt as if the computer was made at the same time the desk was made.

"Wow. This is real tech. You wouldn't have known there's anything here had it not been for her."

The girl gushed as she gave the system a good rub as if it were a petulant child who got its clothes dirty.

I agree with her on the context of our inability to see the computer. Had the examiner not pointed it out, we would have sat here waiting for a piece of paper, and our exam questions like most schools do.

"Enough with the talks already. Your time has already begun counting. Happy writing." She walked back to her chair and sat on it.

It's time.

Rubbing my hand in Glee, is stare at the computer system.

It's time to put all I've read into words. Time to show Sly I'm more than capable of taking up any responsibility I might be given.

"I can't believe an exam made me this way." The female I took the exam with groaned.

"Cheer up. Who knows, if by some miracle we'll get the admission." I tried to cheer her up despite the doubt I have in my heart about this exam we had just taken.

I know I read my books and all that, but most of the questions asked in there are tricky. It seems they scrambled the main question into something that can't be decoded by normal students like us.

"I highly doubt that," the girl sat on the bench that's under a mango tree, one that's not too far from the parking lot.

"There's nothing to doubt. Getting the letter for this exam came unexpectedly, I guess it'll be the same for this exam."

In some ways, I'm trying to also encourage myself.

"I hope so." She smiled Brightly, "I'm Brit, and you are?"

"Lee." I smile at her.

"Lee? Is that a full name, or a nickname?"

"I guess it's a full name," I shrug.

Ever since I was born, I've never heard any other name aside from Lee, so I figured it's my full name.

"Well, it's the same as mine, then. Truth be told, I don't know if mine is a full name, or a short form or a name." She said in an exasperated tone, one that caused me to laugh.

"Glad you think it's funny," she said with a smile.

"Of course not." I look at the parking lot searching for my husband, but I see no familiar care there.

I guess I have to wait for him to come to take me home.

"Are you waiting for someone?" I raise a brow at her.

"Yeah. I'm waiting for my dad. He'll be here any moment from now." She checked the wristwatch she was putting on.

"I guess I'll sit with you. I'm waiting for someone also." I sit next to her.

" Who are you waiting for? Your dad?"

" No," I blush at her question. "I'm waiting for my —"

"And who do we have here?" A boy who's not all that older than us asked with a smile.

Dressed in a blue button-down shirt, and black slacks. He looks like one of these student Presidents or something like that.

His dressing and the neat haircut he has shows he's not an ordinary student. He sure is among the students' — whatever—

"Good day." Brit smiled at her, "I'm Brit."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," he answered without looking at her, his entire focus on me. "And what might your name be, handsome?" He smiled brightly.

"I'm—"

" It'll do you good to go flirt with those who want to flirt with you." Sly frowned at the poor boy, "let's go." He takes my hand in his and dragged me to the car.

He didn't give me the chance to bid farewell to my newfound friend Brit.

"See you soon, cutie!" The insufferable boy called out.

I didn't reply, and nor did I wave. I just entered the car the moment we reached it.

"What was that about?" Sly asked the moment he joined me inside the car.

" What was what about?"

" You damn well know what I'm talking about!"

"I don't know what it is." I fold my hands.

"Why were you flirting with another male?"
