Chapter 07: Sunny Starscout & Hitch Trailblazer

Sunny Starscout saw Charlie using his smartphone.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

What are you doing?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

I'm showing you a website that will explain why I know your name. Here.

Charlie gave Sunny Starscout his smartphone and she looked at the website and read the movie plot of My Little Pony: A New Generation.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

My Little Pony: A New Generation. Three pony kinds have grown apart and living separated from one another in paranoia and prejudice. Sunny Starscout, an earth pony who, after meeting the unicorn Izzy Moonbow, embarks on a quest to reunite all pony kinds and restore magic to the land.

Sunny Starscout looked surprised when she saw some pictures of herself and her friends.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Oh, my stars! I remember all of this. Is this a T.V show?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Actually, it's a movie. What I'm trying to say is that I'm a human from another dimension.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Another dimension? Isn't that the world where Princess Twilight visited?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

No, I'm from a dimension where you and your friends are... Cartoon characters.

Sunny Starscout looked a little shocked.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

You mean we're not real?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Yes, but you're real to me. Celestia and Luna came to my world, then they brought me and my dad to...

Sunny Starscout looked happy and interrupted Charlie.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Celestia and Luna?! The first ancient princesses?! Are they still in Equestria?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

They were, but...

Sunny Starscout looked excited.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Oh, I can't believe you actually met them! I feel so jealous right now, but happy!

Charlie looked worried.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Uh, Sunny, there something I need to tell you about the princesses.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

You can tell me later, Charlie. I just need to borrow your phone and show Hitch what you just showed me. You lucky he found you when he did.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Hitch Trailblazer?

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

He's a sheriff of Maretime Bay and my childhood friend. Well, I'll let you settle in and I'll be downstairs if you need me.

Charlie saw Sunny Starscout trotted downstairs.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Okay, I'll tell you about the princesses when I'm ready. I hope you can handle it.

Charlie smiled, then he looked worried.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Shoot! Oh, great. How am I gonna tell her now.

Charlie gasped and quickly took out Tempest Shadow's unicorn horn out of his pocket and looked relieved.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Phew! I still got it. I thought I lost from that tornado.

Charlie spotted his rucksack next to Sunny Starscout's books, then he got out of bed to check it out.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Well, all my stuff is here. Thank goodness.

Charlie walked down the stairs and saw Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer in the living room. Hitch Trailblazer was looking at Charlie's smartphone and he looked surprised.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

I can't believe it. So, this human, Charlie is from a dimension where we only exist in a movie?!

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

I know it's crazy, Hitch, but it's true. Celestia and Luna came to his world and brought him here.

Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer saw Charlie.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Charlie, there you are.

Sunny Starscout took Charlie to the living room and helped him sit down on the couch.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Just sit here, while I'll go and get you some refreshments.

While Sunny Starscout went to the kitchen, Charlie looked at Hitch Trailblazer.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Hi, Hitch. Still the sheriff of Maretime Bay?

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Yeah. Sunny told me that you knew about me.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Yes.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

How much?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Let's just say, the little critters couldn't stop following you.

Hitch Trailblazer chuckled.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Oh. Yes, I get that a lot. Still.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

So, how are things going in Maretime Bay?

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Well, we haven't had any problems since our last adventures.

Charlie looked confused.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Last adventures?

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Yeah. Four long ones and twenty-three short ones.

Charlie realized what Hitch Trailblazer was talking about.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Oh, yeah. I heard of them.

Sunny Starscout came back to the living room holding a plate of unicorn cupcakes and asked Charlie if he wanted one.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Unicorn cupcake?

Charlie looked happy when he saw the cupcakes.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Oh, sure. Thank you.

Charlie took one of the cupcakes from the plate and took a bite. Charlie smiled with delight.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Mmmm! This is lovely. Well, I know you made them when you were a kid.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Yeah. My dad taught me to make them.

Sunny Starscout placed the plate of unicorn cupcakes on the table and sat next to Hitch Trailblazer.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Anyway, tell me about the princesses. Are they here? Did they come back from retirement? Are they gonna use their magic to keep everypony unite?

Charlie looked worried.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Well, Sunny. You see... Uh... It's just that.... Um.

Charlie was talking from his head.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN (thinking voice):

I can't tell them what happened to Celestia and Luna if they don't know about the Storm Queen. I better change the conversation until I figure out what to say.

Charlie looked at Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Uh, before I can tell you about Celestia and Luna, I would like to know where the Humacorn crystal is?

Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer looked confused.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

The huma-what?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Well, it's been divided to three crystals. You know, Belief.... I mean Earth pony, Pegasus pony and Unicorn pony.

Sunny Starscout knew what Charlie was talking about.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Oh, those crystals! Yeah, I remember now. We used to have them, but...

Charlie noticed Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer looked sad.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

But, what?

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Charlie, we hate to say this, but they're gone.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

What do you mean, gone?

Sunny Starscout explained to Charlie.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Well, after the crystals transformed me into an alicorn and restored magic across the land, they just disappeared.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Were those crystals important to you, Charlie?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Yes, they were discovered by my ancient grandfather Carvette.

Hitch Trailblazer looked surprised.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Carvette? Like Carvette Equestrian?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

You know him?

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

We only read about him when we're kids.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

We know he defeated the Storm King before Princess Twilight did. My dad used to tell me stories about it before the Guardians of Harmony.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Really?

Charlie was about to take another unicorn cupcake from the plate when he saw a letter next to it. He picked it up and looked at it.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

What's this?

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

It's my letter from my dad. Actually, it's my last letter from my dad.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

After Argyle Starshine was gone, Sprout and I gave the letter to Sunny and strongly advised her to read it, so she can stop this unite everypony nonsense. That was a week before Izzy Moonbow came to Maretime Bay.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

So, you haven't read it haven't you, Sunny.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

No. It said I can't read it until I unite everypony and restore the magic of friendship. But all of the adventures we had; I must've forgotten about it until today.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Well, you already done that, Sunny. So, I think it's time for you to read this letter right now. Who knows, you might find something that your dad already knew about.

Sunny Starscout agreed with Charlie.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

You're right, Charlie. It is time for me to read it.

Charlie gave the letter to Sunny Starscout, then she opened it and started to read.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Sunny, if you're reading this letter, that means you've united earth ponies, Pegasi and unicorns, and restore the magic of friendship. Now you're brave enough to hear the truth. Sunny, I am your father, but I wasn't born as an earth pony. I'm a humacorn. When the Storm King came back as the Storm Queen, she destroyed the magic of friendship and forced three pony kinds to separate. I disguised myself as an earth pony and go by the name, Argyle Sunshine. I spent a thousand years living under the Storm Queen's orders, until I met your mother, Sunlight Clover in Maretime Bay. I shared all of my secrets with her, until you came to our lives and we love you. You may believe that I'm gone, but I'm not. I went to my world to watch over my future relatives in the island that I created. My future grandson is destined to restore Ancient Equestria. He's human like I was and his name is Charlie. His father, which is my future brother is Malcolm. I know you find it hard to believe, but don't worry. Find my Elements of Harmony book and press the magic button. It will show you my secret room in the lighthouse and you will find more answers about me, our future relatives and the Storm Queen. Sincerely, your father, Carvette Equestrian.

After Sunny Starscout read her letter, she looked surprised while she looked at Charlie.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Charlie, your last name is Equestrian.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Yes. And your dad must be alive.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

So, if my dad is your ancient grandfather...

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

And my ancient grandfather is your dad....

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Then that means...

Hitch Trailblazer interrupted Charlie and Sunny and Starscout.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

All right, before we can jump to conclusions. Let's find that book with the magic button and look for some answers in the secret room, if we can find it.

Charlie and Sunny Starscout agreed with Hitch Trailblazer.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Yeah, we better do that.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Let's look at the bookshelf. We might be able to find it. Come on.

Charlie, Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer went to the bookshelf.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

My dad collected a lot of books.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Okay, let's find that book.

Everyone took the books out from the shelf one at a time. Hitch Trailblazer read the titles from the books he took out from the lower shelf.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Changelings. Hippogriffs and Seaponies. Kirin and Nirik?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Keep an eye on these books. We might need them later.

Sunny Starscout took out the Elements of Harmony book from the top shelf.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Charlie. Hitch. I found it.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

You did?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Well done, Sunny.

Sunny Starscout tried to open the book with her magic, but it didn't work.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

It won't open.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

What? Let me see.

Sunny Starscout gave the book to Charlie. When Charlie looked at the book, he recognised the elements on the front cover.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Loyalty. Generosity. Honesty. Laughter. Kindness. Magic.

Charlie looked surprised after he pressed the Element of Magic button. Everyone turned around and saw a staircase magically revealed in front of the living room. Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer looked surprised when they saw a staircase that leads to the basement.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

A secret staircase to the basement? I never knew you had one, Sunny.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Neither did I.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

That basement must lead to the secret room. Let's check it out.

Charlie walked downstairs to the basement, while Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer followed him.

Area: Carvette's Secret Study Area

Charlie, Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer made it to the basement, but it was a little bit dark.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

It's dark in here.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Sunny, I need my phone back, please. I'm gonna use the flashlight app.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

I was going to use my magic, but okay.

Sunny Starscout gave the smartphone back to Charlie. Charlie used the flashlight app from his smartphone, then he moved it around until he spotted a light switch on the wall.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Hey, I found a light switch.

Charlie walked to the light switch and turned it on. When the entire room lit up, everyone looked surprised when they saw Carvette's desk filled with papers and pictures.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

It's my dad's secret study area! I never know about it, until now.

Hitch Trailblazer looked confused.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

If this room hasn't been used for years, how come it's still clean?

Charlie spotted a magic potion on Carvette's desk, picked it up and read the label.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Magic Cleaner. A magic potion that will keep everything clean and will last for a hundred years.

Charlie showed the magic potion to Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Look. My grandfather made this potion to keep this room clean and it last for a hundred years.

Sunny Starscout looked surprised.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Wow! I didn't know my dad can make magic potions.

Sunny Starscout shook her head.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

Anyway, let's focus why we're here. Hitch, we need to find more facts about my dad. I want to find out if me and Charlie are related.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

All right, Sunny. Let's do that first.

Everyone went to Carvette's desk to look for some more information about him. Charlie found his grandfather's journal.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Sunny, Hitch. Look at this.

Sunny Starscout and Hitch Trailblazer saw Carvette's journal that Charlie was holding.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

My dad's journal. This is exactly what we're looking for.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

He must've written a few hundred pages.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Let's find his latest entry. Maybe we can understand why Charlie is destined to restore Ancient Equestria.

Charlie opened the journal, then found and read Carvette's least entry.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

I set off to Ancient Equestria to find six Spirits of Harmony. They were originally the Elements of Harmony. After King Sombra destroyed them, the spirits were freed and they got scattered in different places. Those spirits have the power to restore Ancient Equestria and everypony who live there back the way it was a thousand years ago. I tried to find one in Canterlot, but the storm creatures were too powerful. I didn't want my daughter to see me hurt, so, I used my magic to take me back to my study area and used it again to take me back to my world, and watch over my future grandson. If you're reading this Sunny, I believe you will restore the magic of friendship and unite everypony.

Everyone looked surprised.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Sunny, your dad went to find six Spirits of Harmony.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

And when he couldn't, he went back to his world to watch over Charlie.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

I never knew he was watching over me.

Charlie spotted a date on the journal.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

Sunny, look at the date. September 17th. He written this a week before you met Izzy Moonbow.

SUNNY STARSCOUT:

What? That was the day Hitch and Sprout gave me that letter.

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

And it was also a week before the movie was released on Netflix.

Hitch Trailblazer looked confused.

HITCH TRAILBLAZER:

Net-what?

CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:

I'll show you on my phone later.

Charlie turned a page from the journal, then he found an old family photo of Sunlight Clover, an earth pony with Carvette in his humacorn form holding a little filly. Everyone looked surprised when they saw that photo.
