Episode 13: (Apple Bloom Arc) Sleuthing 3: Unexpected Links

Scene 13.0: Ponyville, Goldie Delicious' Cabin, 1:19 PM, Day 10 Of 365

Upon arriving to Goldie Delicious' Cabin, every creature is disappointed to see it. They all were expecting the cabin to be even larger since Goldie was the Apple Family Historian and every creature knows that the Apple Family's history is quite expanse especially that you cannot go anywhere in Equestria or beyond without meeting an Apple.

Apple Bloom:

(Proud Smile)

Well, Here it is Every Creature! It's Great, Isn't It?

Every Creature:

(Nervous Smile & Chuckle)

Shadow:

It's quite impressive. I'm actually taken aback.

Every Creature:

(Doubtful Glare At Shadow)

Shadow:

(Annoyed)

I'm being serious. Whatever! Let's go in.

Apple Bloom tries to stop Shadow from opening the cabin only for Apple Rose with a mischievous smile across her face desperately covering it as she quietly sneakers uncontrollably. Shadow notices that Apple Rose is acting weird and he knows something is going to happen once he opens the door. Knowing this, Shadow stays alert as soon as he starts turning the nob; once the door opens, Shadow was expecting some sort of security behind the door or a guard behind it, but instead it was a mountain of books and memorabilia falling on top of him like a wave. Upon seeing Shadow being overtaken like this, Apple Rose lets loose all of her laughter.

Apple Bloom:

(Worried)

Gosh! Are you alright, Shadow?

Shadow:

Dandy! I was expecting something to happen because ROSE was acting way too giddy as soon as I went for the door. I was expecting some type of security like a trap, a guard or something along those lines. But I really wasn't expecting a Tsunami of Memorabilia to fall on top of me.

Apple Bloom:

Well—

Shadow:

No matter. I know you tried to warn me, Apple Bloom and I also know that ROSE stopped you. Enjoyed the show, Giggles!?

Apple Rose:

(Still Laughing)

Apple Bloom:

Shadow:

Everyone pick a written book, diary, scroll or tablet and start reading. Try looking for anything that sticks out too much.

Florid:

Shadow:

Any Creature using magic that they shouldn't be able to use. Apple Bloom. Since you know your way around here, can you answer a few questions if we don't understand some of the writing?

Apple Bloom:

Sure thing!

Shadow:

Rose. Since you have a far more developed ability to sense magic than me, I would like you to check some of the memorabilia around here to see if there's something here that sticks out. Something that should never be here.

Apple Rose:

Very well, I will check. I will inform you as soon as I find something.

Shadow:

Let's do this.

Every Creature starts to read through the history of the Apple Family while Apple Rose starts to inspect the Apple Family Heirlooms as the all are expecting to find something out of the ordinary. While looking through the Apple Family Tree, Shadow's stumbles on a name he never thought he would read again: "Jonamac". As soon as he sees the name, Shadow have a sad look in his eyes as he looks thinks of a young filly that looks like Granny Smith in her youth, but have feral features like fangs, pointy ears, slit irises like a cat and spiky hair and an Old Stallion that resembles Bright Mac, but has the same colors as Granny Smith and looks like a distinguished noble. Apple Bloom notices Shadow's reaction and approaches him.

Apple Bloom:

You know him?

Shadow:

More like "Knew" fits the situation. Yeah…I did.

Apple Bloom:

(Saddened)

Oh…I didn't know.

Shadow:

Did YOU knew him by any chance?

Apple Bloom:

No. Granny Smith talked about him every now and then, but I never met him. He's my Uncle, Pa's Older Brother. He left Ponyville when he got in an argument with every pony. We never heard of him ever since. How did he—?

Shadow:

Don't ask questions you don't want to hear the answers to. Trust me. His daughter…your cousin…wasn't the same after that event.

Apple Bloom:

I have a cousin? How old is she?

Shadow:

Around the same age as everyone here: 16 to 17 years old, a few years younger than you. But if you want to know more, I will tell you what I can after we deal with Trotter. So please bear it for a little longer.

Apple Bloom:

It's a deal.

Shadow and Apple Bloom resumes the investigation which took almost 2 hours as they find nothing except for some funny family history as they laugh as soon as they find it. This frustrates Shadow because he cannot figure out why Trotter is after Apple Bloom or what does her family posses that Trotter wants so desperately. As every creature is about to call it a day and Shadow notices that no one has found anything concrete or any links between the Apple Family and Trotter, Shadow furiously hoofs the nearby apple tree causing an apple to fall through the roof of the cabin.

Apple Bloom:

PLATINUM SHADOW!!!

Shadow:

(Annoyed Sigh)

Sorry. I'll fix it right away. I just need to get inside because I might have damaged something in there and needs fixing too.

As Shadow goes inside, he walks towards the apple and as soon as walks to it, he hears a loud creak on the wooden floor and peaks his interests. He then knocks on the floor on certain spots where he heard the creak trying to hear somewhere that will sound hollow. Shadow hits the jackpot as he hears a spot that sound largely hollow meaning that Goldie Delicious is hiding something big under her cabin.

Shadow:

Hey! I Found Something Big In Here!

Every Creature enters the cabin and see Shadow still knocking on the floor and marking the area with chalk, dividing the hollow area and the consonant area until the chalk line resembles a jagged door.

Apple Bloom:

What are you up to?

Shadow:

This floor is hiding something. The area inside this point is hollow, which means there's a secret hiding under the floor. Rose? Can you sense something here?

Apple Rose:

(Surprised)

Indeed! It is faint, but there is something down there!

Shadow:

Blaze. Help me here.

Apple Bloom:

You'll fix the floor after you are done, right?

Shadow:

I promise.

Blaze and Shadow carefully rips the floor open and as soon as they do, they unearth a large chest with a complicated and old-fashioned lock that cannot be easily picked. Shadow and Rose are shocked by seeing the lock for it is a lock designed by the Ancients and since Shadow is familiar with it, he tries to unlock it with a series of combinations that is connected to the Ancients and since there are 13 Ancients, Shadow uses the combination that might be related to the Apple Family and much to his surprise, he unlocked it with the first combination and he wasn't expecting it.

Luster:

That was fast. How did you do it?

Shadow:

(Worried, Annoyed)

Ava…

Luster:

Who?

Shadow:

She's one of my teachers in the Chaotic Void. She is known as a Master Crafter and is the one who taught me on how to make my music boxes and other things that have proven useful in my everyday life like vases, statues, pocket watches, you name it, she taught it to me. She also seems to have created this lock and since she created this, I am now wondering what's in here.

Gatz:

Only one way to find out.

As they open the chest, every creature is surprised to see what is inside: A Large Well Designed And Decorated Book, A Music Box similar to the ones Shadow makes. Shadow activates the Music Box and it plays Aria Di Mezzo Carattere just like Shadow's Music Boxes, but unlike his, This Music Box is playing vocals which catches every creature off guard except for Shadow as he was expecting it.

Shadow:

(Amused Scoff)

I see. Someone in the Apple Family went through "The Flames Of Ruin". That's how this is here.

Blaze:

The Flames Of Ruin? That series of trials hosted by the Ancients?

Shadow:

Yeah. Whomever that take the trials and passes it are granted the Blessing of the Ancients. Depending on what your greatest desire is, the Ancients will grant it to you if you're an outsider. But if you are a Denizen of the Void like Me, we become the Champion of the Ancients.

(Notices Hidden Compartment Under Music Box)

Hello, There. What do we have here?

Shadow opens the compartment to finds what appears to be a small jewelry box, he opens it just to find it empty and even though it is empty, there is a small adjacent area in the shape of an apple resides right in the middle. Upon l touching that specific area, Shadow senses a High Level Of Magic coming from that spot which shocks him like never before. Using his Special Sight, Shadow struggles to look at it not because there's little magic, but because the sheer power of said magic is blinding him that he is forced to stop looking at it and go back to his normal sight.

Krystal:

(Worried)

Aniki! Are you alright!?

Shadow:

(Scratching Eyes)

Yeah. What is this!? I have never come across a power like this in Equestria. Hey, Rose…is this what Trotter is after? What was in here?

Apple Rose:

Yes…Trotter is after The "Anima Of Eden".

Shadow:

(Overwhelmingly Shocked)

THE ANIMA OF EDEN!?!?!? ARE YOU [Censored] [Censored] ME!?!?!?

Blaze:

(Worried, Facepalm)

When Shadow Starts Cursing To High Heaven, You Know We Are In a Very Bad Situation Here. Okay! I'll Bite. What Is The Anima Of Eden?

Shadow:

The Anima Of Eden is 1 of 6 Seeds that helped create all life in the world. After all the Anima lost its power temporarily, they were placed into hiding and given to Specific Creatures to serve as its Guardians. Legends say that the Anima were given to A Unicorn, A Pegasus, An Earth Pony, An Alicorn, A Hippogriff and A Kirin. These 6 would act as their Guardians and the most gifted in their Respected Families are Chosen to be its Successor. If that's the case…Goldie Delicious was the Previous Guardian of the Anima of Eden.

Gatz:

If that's the Case then she failed to uphold her duty as the Anima of Eden is not where it is supposed to be.

Flurry:

Not necessarily. She could have passed it on to her Successor and He or She decided to hide it somewhere else.

Shadow:

Hate to say it, Flurry…but I have to side with Gatz on this one. This Music Box was created not only as Memorabilia, but also as the Perfect Hiding Place for the Anima. You all noticed how I reacted when I made contact with the area where the Anima was supposed to be. The amount of magic in here is small, but it is powerful enough to have an effect on others.

Luster:

What is the Power of the Anima of Eden?

Shadow:

All Anima have the Power to Render all Elements Useless especially that the Anima were created by the Supreme One. But Each Anima have their own functions. Eden has the Power of the Land and Sea and whoever controls Eden, can control everything in both of them. The Anima also has the power to create a Weapon in order to help the Guardian protect it at all cost and from what I know, Eden grants its Guardian a Sword; depending on the personality of its Guardian, it will take a specific shape and type. If the Wrong Hooves Or Claws get Eden, the Land will decay and the Sea will dry out at an alarming rate. Nothing would survive for long.

Apple Rose:

Correct. Eden does not only stabilize both Land and Sea, but also helps in maintaining the ability for everyone to grow their own food.

Shadow:

(Stern Look At Apple Rose)

So…Where is it, Rose? Where is the Anima?

Apple Rose:

(Saddened)

I…I do not know.

Shadow:

How could you not? Aren't you in-charged of keeping tabs on the Apple Family by your Master?

Apple Rose:

Yes, I am but I started my duties the day Princess Twilight Sparkle first arrived in Ponyville.

Shadow:

The Day the Elements of Harmony defeated and Reformed Nightmare Moon…So you never saw Goldie Delicious interact with the Anima while she was alive?

Apple Rose:

(Saddened)

Never. Not once she did anything involving the Anima. But she did interact with this chest many years ago.

Shadow:

When exactly?

Apple Rose:

A few days after Big Mac and Sugar Belle's Wedding.

Shadow:

What did she do on that day?

Apple Rose:

She was doing something in this cabin. I don't know what.

Shadow:

What do you mean?

Apple Rose:

She did something to this cabin that I couldn't get in. I could only look at her through the window.

Florid:

Some kind of Magic?

Apple Bloom:

Goldie doesn't know magic. Maybe she used a potion or something like that.

Shadow:

There are Potions that are used to ward off creatures with specific magical alignment…Or creatures that don't belong in this realm. So she might have interacted with the Anima then, but…what I don't understand is…if the Music Box created by Ava-Sensei's was not secure for the Anima then where did she hide it and why? This Music Box is the most secure location because it shielded its magic from creatures like me, Discord and you, Rose from sensing it. Taking it out in the open can put the Anima at risk because the magical force that the Anima produces can attract far too much attention that even creatures that cannot sense magic will be drawn to it. That's how powerful it is. So…Where in Ponyville did she hid it and how did she do it without anyone finding out?

Luster:

Maybe she had another means to hide it?

Shadow:

Not possible. The means to keep the Anima hidden is a special metal that only exist in the Void and knowing my teachers, I highly doubt Goldie Delicious have anymore of the metal.

Slipstream:

Can't the metal be artificially recreated?

Shadow:

Impossible. The metal cannot be replicated unless you are a Denizen of the Void who received direct training from Ava-Sensei and have passed "The Flames Of Ruins" Test. And before any of you say anything, there's no one in the Void who wants to take the trials because unlike to everyone here in Equestria that are granted countless benefits with small amount of downsides, to a Denizen like me we get the opposite treatment because we Denizens are as Rose called me: "Children Of The Ancients". That title is not just a baseless label. We Denizens possess a high connection to the Ancients which our magic tends to be more powerful than anyone of Equestria. So the Ancients have forbidden us to cross certain lines. If we do, we are punished severely when we return to back to the Chaotic Void.

Florid:

You really have it rough, Shadow. Want a Cupcake to lighten your mood?

Shadow:

I wonder…let's see what's written here.

Shadow opens the book and the pages are all blank which shocks every creature and when Shadow and Rose notices, they can't help but laugh at every creature.

Apple Bloom:

What's so funny? There's nothing there!

Shadow:

This is a book created by the Ancients it seems. No one except a Denizen like me can read the words hidden in these pages with no artifacts.

Apple Bloom:

Artifacts?

Shadow:

Did Goldie Delicious wore Glasses?

Apple Rose:

No, she didn't and she did not use Reading Glasses either.

Shadow:

(Checking Chest, Finds Reading Glasses)

Looks like she used these when she had to read or write anything in this book exclusively. Judging by the materials, these glasses can be made here in Equestria. So they aren't unique like the metal used to make the Music Box. Let's see here…

Apple Bloom:

(Surprised)

You are going to read that now!? It's almost time for supper and that book is as big as Jersey Mac, Can that wait for later?

Shadow:

Don't worry, Apple Bloom. I'll just use Haycart's Technique of getting inside the book and absorbing every detail in its pages.

Luster:

(Impressed, Still Avoiding Eye Contact With Shadow)

That's Genius, Shadow!

Slipstream:

(Annoyed)

Wait! You could do that!? Then Why In Twilight You Made Us Read All Of This!?

Shadow:

I'll admit, it is a very handy spell, but it drains magic like crazy and I can only use it sparingly.

Flurry:

Shadow is right, Slipstream. Aunt Twilight taught it to me and I have trouble doing it for a prolonged period of time; and I'm an Alicorn.

Luster:

I tried it once and I only lasted less than a minute. After that I couldn't use my magic for awhile.

Slipstream:

I get it, I get it. It's a pretty draining technique and we'd be here longer than we have at the moment. I'm guessing you have been saving it for this moment.

Shadow:

Pretty much. Welp! Here goes nothing.

Shadow uses Haycart's Technique and enters the book, however unlike entering "Normal Books", when Shadow enters this one, he is transported into another dimension and he meets an Earth Pony that resembles Apple Jack. Knowing that this isn't Apple Jack, Shadow carefully approaches her.

Shadow:

Who Are You? I know for a fact that you are not Apple Jack.

Eden (Apple Jack?):

You Can Call Me Eden. I Am The Personification Of The Apple Family's Dreams. I have taken the form of the Apple that you are most close with. It is an honor to finally meet you, Platinum Shadow.

Shadow:

Eden:

It has been Prophesied that you will come into contact with many of us and in doing so—

Shadow:

As much as I love spoilers, when it comes to Prophecies related to me, I try my best to avoid them like the plague. I don't mind listening to everyone else's though.

Eden:

No, you are right. You should not be aware of your own destiny. But I digress. You are here to learn the Secret History of the Apple Family.

Shadow:

Not necessarily. I'm here to learn the link between The Hag of Raddos, Trotter Poisonia and The Apple Family.

Eden:

I will grant you the knowledge inside this book in order for you to defeat and seal Trotter Poisonia away.

Shadow:

I don't need to know the whole story. Just the ones linked to Trotter and only Trotter.

Eden smiles and is surrounded by a flash of blinding light that knocks Shadow unconscious. When he wakes up, he is surrounded by his friends who seem to be worried sick about him. Shadow groans while holding his head as he gets up and upon getting a hold of his bearings, Shadow is shocked on what he is now aware of. He looks at both Apple Bloom and Rose is complete dismay like seeing them in a way that neither of them shouldn't exist.

Krystal:

(Worried)

Aniki! What's wrong!? What did you learn?

Shadow:

(Shocked In Disbelief, Regaining Composure)

Nothing…I'm fine.

Blaze:

(Notices Shadow's Discomfort)

Shadow:

(Sad & Worried Smile, Hiding Emotions Behind Fake Smile)

Come on. We need to investigate the next location. After that, I'll make all of you my best dishes tonight. I'll even make you my Special Dish as an apology for you, Luster.

Luster:

(Makes Eye Contact At Shadow)

Shadow…

Blaze:

(Raises Eyebrow, Thinking)

That's not how Shadow does his apologies. Whatever he learned in that book must have rattled him something fierce.

Shadow:

Come on. We don't have all day.

(Thinking)

To Every Apple In The World…Past And Present…I Promise On My Life I Will Protect Your Future.

As every creature follows Shadow, they all notice that Shadow found out something he shouldn't have. Blaze specifically knows that Shadow is not only in dismay, but he knows something that none around them know: Shadow is in so deep, he might do something out of character when he meet Trotter again. Blaze hopes that whatever Shadow saw in the pages of that book doesn't force him to cross the line he shouldn't cross. However before they leave Goldie Delicious' Cabin, the place everything back where it belongs, even the chest with the Music Box with the exception of the Book Shadow jumped into. As they leave, the magic that the book is emanating is spreading everywhere and hiding in the trees, an Undead Crow is keeping tabs on Shadow, Apple Bloom and Rose as it communicates everything to its Master: Trotter Poisonia as it takes flight in order to continue following them.

Scene 13.1: Ponyville, Road To Vanhoover, 3:33 PM

Upon arriving where both Bright Mac and Pear Butter passed away, Shadow signals Q to fly as high up in the sky as he can and remembering they are in a contract, as soon as Q is high up in the sky, Florid is in awe that see is seeing themselves through Q's eyes.

Florid:

(Exited)

Ooooh!! We look as tiny as ants!!!

Shadow:

(Annoyed Sigh)

I didn't give you that ability to be at awe on how we look like from the sky. I gave it to you so you can look at your surrounding if there's something out of the ordinary or we get lost and we need to look for a path back to town. So what can any of you see that stands out?

Florid:

Nope! Everything looks normal.

Shadow:

It's been nearly 2 decades since then, so the landscape will have changed, so gathering evidence is not going to be easy.

Luster:

More like impossible. An Almost 20 Year neglecting the surroundings and letting both Father Time and Mother Nature care for the area must have destroyed all of the evidence.

Slipstream:

Try thinking outside the box, Luster. Sure Father Time and Mother Nature cared for the place and we might not find any physical evidence, but we still can talk to the witnesses that can provide testimony.

Luster:

What witnesses? From what we know, No Pony was around when the tragedy happened.

Gatz:

(Confident Smile)

You are correct, Luster. No "Pony" was around. But what about some creature else? Or in this case: Some Critter.

Luster:

(Surprised, Impressed)

(Annoyed)

HOLD IT!!! Ask the nearby Critters for Testimony!? But we can't talk to Critters, only Fluttershy can do that and she's back in Ponyville.

Gatz:

That won't be a problem. Q, can you assist us?

Q:

(Perches On Gatz's Back)

Gatz:

Q can communicate with critters and he can translate everything they tell him.

Luster:

Impressive. So this is another perk of the contract with Q. Alright. Is there any critter nearby?

Florid:

Florid heads into the woods around the area and manages to gather the critters living nearby which Luster is impressed by Florid's quick progress.

Luster:

That was fast. How did you do it?

Florid:

It's A Secret!

Shadow:

Give it up Luster. Once Florid says that something she does is "A Secret", she won't talk no matter what. Let's get this over with. Okay, Gatz. This is your show now.

Gatz:

Are you ready, Q?

Q:

Gatz and Q start to question the critters on what happened almost 20 Years Ago on this road with Gatz asking the questions and Q translating the answers the critters give. As they move on, Q becomes more hesitant in translating what the critters are saying because the answers are so horrible, Q feels he shouldn't translate it all exactly as he hears it, but he knows that in order to take Trotter to Justice, Q needed to translate and reveal everything the critters say and they are all in shocked on hearing how far Trotter went in order to end Apple Bloom's Parents. Apple Bloom is so distraught after listening to everything that Hag resorted to and after hearing all of it, Apple Bloom now completely understand how low Trotter will go to get what she wants; that Trotter is beyond despicable and evil and her heart is torn to shreds after hearing how Trotter ended her parents. Even Rose seems that didn't know anything on what happened as she was just as torn as Apple Bloom. But the most shocking thing they all heard was right at the end: The Appearance of the God of Death Himself, Thanatos. Every Creature have no words to say on anything they all heard; they were all unanimously feeling the same thing: Shock, Dread, Disgust, Abhor, Appall, Fury and Determined to take Trotter Down No Matter What. Shadow's expression turns darker than he normally is as Blaze knows that Shadow Is Nearing His Breaking Point. Before Blaze could confront Shadow on what are his next plans now, A Group of Undead Monsters Appear and they all look like Zombie Chimeras with dark purple smoke pouring out of the large open wounds and mouths as a familiar sinister laughter can be heard behind the monsters. Trotter walks past her creations and stands in their way and every creature just want to charge her with all they have.

Trotter:

(Evil Sneer, Singsong Voice, Wiggling Hoof)

Naughty, Naughty!

Shadow:

(Enraged, Staying In Control)

You are an abomination, Hag.

Trotter:

(Evil Cackle)

Flattery will get you nowhere, my beloved apprentice. But…I am here for what is RIGHTFULLY Mine! Give me the Mare, the Book and…The Anima of Eden.

Shadow:

Over my Dead Body.

Trotter:

Unfortunately I need your body in order to travel to the Chaotic Void. But I will take your offer however, I will end up granting death to your friends instead and with my New Undead Necrons here, that will not be a problem. I have been collecting Chimeras just for this moment and I WILL NOT BE DENIED!!!

Shadow:

Just like you denied Bright Mac and Pear Butter their Right to Live!?

Trotter:

The Weak Is Meant To Submit To The Strong And None Is Stronger Than Me! They Were Weak And Refuse To Obey Me, Their Superior! The Price For Unruly Foals That Refuse To Obey Me, Their Superior, Is Death!

Luster:

She's…Insane…

Slipstream:

Ruling Through Power, Fear and Intimidation…you are just as Another Tyrant like the Storm King.

Trotter:

But his followers did so voluntarily and you want to know why? Because…The Masses Will Accept The Rule Of A Tyrant So Long As The Nation Is Safe And In Peace For All Time.

Krystal:

(Enraged, Saddened)

SAFETY DOESN'T EQUAL LOVE NOR PEACE!!! I should know! For all of my life…every changeling have always cared for me, did everything for me, provided me everything and kept me safe. But…Never Once I Was Happy! There was even a time all I wanted was to end it…

You Are Nothing But Weeds That Need To Be Cut Down And Ripped Out Of Existence. Necromancy Will Create The World I Always Dreamed Of. A World That Every Creature Is Shaped And Molded In My Image.

Shadow:

How Dare You!!! This Is Sheer Perfection! This Is The Future Of The World. None Will Suffer The Perils Of Freedom And Choice. Only My Will Will Dictate How Things Should Be And With That Mare As My New Body, My Power Will Go Beyond That Of Grogar…And With You As My Concubine, I Will Give Birth To The Ultimate Being.
