Lost

Lance curled up in blankets staring out his window as he gazed at the birds on his window sill. He couldn't sleep feeling guilt and sadness. He couldn't save Suri but this was all his fault. He couldn't even find what room she was locked in. He didn't know where to start.

He sighed as a knock on his door sounded. He sat up hearing Shiro calling his name through it.

"Come in" Lance said.

Shiro entered holding a tray of food, "You didn't have breakfast yet?" He asked sitting down across from Lance.

Lance shook his head slowly. "I don't feel like eating. I just want to be left alone for a little bit" Shiro nodded his head placing a hand gently over Lance's.

"We will figure this out Lance. We are gonna get her back. You will be okay, right?" he asked trying to reassure him.

He ignored Shiro turning away instead staring out his window once more. He had been doing that all day long. Not sleeping, not talking to anyone else.

Shiro sighed picking up the tray. "Do you want to join me for some training? It can't hurt to burn off some energy."

Lance shook his head "Not today. Maybe tomorrow when I am ready" He said.

The snowy haired man sighed again moving to get up. Lance caught his arm stopping him. "Please Shiro. I need time. Let me think about everything" he pleaded looking him straight in the eye.

The man took a deep breath knowing it wouldn't do any good to push him. "Okay. I just...I care about you too Lance" He said before leaving the room.

Lance watched his retreating form with sad eyes. He knew he had to do something before things became worse. He could not let this go on anymore. This was tearing him apart inside. What if this wasn't enough? What if he couldn't do anything to help her?

It was then when an idea crossed his mind. It was risky, maybe dangerous but he felt he needed to try. He needed to make sure that he could actually help them, not just run in there to get in the way or risk hurting someone who did nothing wrong.

He noticed the bandages tied around Shiro's neck from when he had been punished by Aleena during their last mission. They had taken it easy on him but he wasn't allowed to leave the base. That must mean they had no plans to do so until the situation calmed down.

He decided the best plan would be to sneak back into the Black Bear base. Shiro got in front of his face as he gawked into his eyes . He grabbed his chin and leaned close to his face. Lance could feel his heart rate increasing.

"What are you thinking about?Shiro asked annoyed. His eyes never leaving Lance's.

"I was uh...just wondering how much longer it takes for your neck to heal?" he blurted out hoping desperately that would give him cover.

His words seemed to catch Shiro off guard because suddenly he released his chin. "Umm...well, it varies depending on the wound, sometimes only a few weeks. Why? Do you want a look?" he asked smirking slightly.

Lance gulped his hands clenching into fists in his lap. "Nope! Sorry! That's fine." He lied. He definitely wasn't planning on touching Shiro's scarred neck.

He shot up in his bed thinking of the old man upstairs who experimented on devices like the first time with Halo. Pulling the blankets off he ran out of the door and into the hallway. Once he was outside he headed towards the elevator. He needed to think of a plan to break in.

"Where are you going, Lance?" Shiro asked.

The boy didn't hear him. He kept walking until he came upon a small staircase leading to another floor. The place was empty so he quickly descended. He had a sneaking suspicion where he might find what he wanted.

He stopped mid-flight on the steps as he looked back at Shiro who was curious as to why he stopped walking. He quickly jumped back up the stairs and headed back toward his room. Once he reached the door he stood unmoving.

"How to be a villain?" Lance asked.

"Wait...what?!" Shiro shouted. He ran after Lance and pulled him away from the door.

"Are you serious Lance? Are you really asking me that?!" he exclaimed.

"I need to make Suri safe so I must become what I must not be!" Lance said pulling away from Shiro.

"Well you are doing a pretty lousy job of that if I may add" Shiro responded crossing his arms. Lance glared back at Shiro as Shiro continued. "Why do you care so much anyway? I thought your mission was to kill the supervillain?"

Lance stared blankly at Shiro.

[Stop fighting already if you desire to save Suri maybe for once taking your proper key role wouldn't be so bad]

Lance looked up at Shiro and smiled weakly "Maybe we should do it together.." he mumbled.

They were both surprised by Lance's confession. Shiro's eyes widened as Lance's smile turned into a grin.

"Fine, I will play a long too!" Shiro laughed.

[No doubt they already find Lance the black sheep of the family]

"Then I will prove to both parties I am who I need to be!" Lance said excitedly.

"I hate this, but maybe Aleena will also back off." Shiro mumbled.

A pounding on the door could be heard suddenly causing Shiro and Lance to jump. Lance hurried toward his door opening it. It was the tall girl from the Black Bear company that came with Aleena as she set her eyes on Lance.

Lance looked at her warily unsure of what she was here for, he looked behind her and saw the large group following along behind her. He swallowed hard his stomach churning slightly.

He stepped aside allowing the people into the room and closing the door behind them. As soon as the people started entering he turned toward Shiro who just stood there.

The tall girl approached Lance and placed her hand on Shiro's shoulder. "Do you remember me?!" She yelled.
