My Life After Death

Death. Nobody knows how it feels. Unfortunately, I had the opportunity to experience it. All I felt was pain. Indescribable pain. It was agonising. After being caught in a terrorist attack and dying, I somehow reincarnated. A new life, a world where every being process an energy called mana. A dreamlike world where magic exists. But this world had infinitely more dangers than ours. Beings who could kill people with the snap of their fingers. Destroy mountain ranges with the swing of a sword. To survive, I had to become strong. Stronger than anyone else. This is My Life After Death. This is my first novel, so it is may contain many errors and maybe plotholes.

An unfortunate death and a new life

Huff Huff Huff

I'm alive!

Is this the hospital bed?

No, I seem to be in a cot. My fingers are tiny and I possess no motor control over my body.

Using Occam's razor, I can easily tell what has happened. I have been reincarnated into a different world.

Well, fantastic! I am glad that the nightmare is over.

The last hour of my previous life was the scariest moment I had ever experienced. I am surprised that I didn't die from the fear alone. I had felt so helpless, my life in the palms of someone else, it was terrifying.

Earth, United States 2022

It was a regular day at school. The weather was cloudy, with a chance of rain, and we were in Math class learning algebra. I was 16 and had no particular dreams or ambitions. However, I did want to work in IT.

Everything seemed fine until the lockdown alarm rang. I had first thought this was a drill, but I knew this was real when I saw the men in black with guns. The only emotion I felt was fear. I could hear my heart beating at speeds faster than light. My only thought was that I had to obey their orders and maybe I could have a slim chance of escaping.

They set up bombs around the academy, a couple in each classroom, each linked to a button in terrorist hands.

At this point, I could hear the sirens outside the school and the police negotiating with the terrorists. I am not religious but I prayed to every god that the officers would give in to their demands and I would be freed.

Though it seemed like god wasn't looking favourably upon me today as it seems like they set off the bomb in our classroom first as an example.

*BOOM!*

I was soon enveloped by flames. That second was the most pain I had ever felt and everything went dark.

And that's what had occurred. Quite unfortunate isn't it?

But on the bright side, I have been given a new gift called life and do not plan to waste it.
