Chapter 2 A strikingly akward day

Calvin Smith takes his steps towards me, eyes fixing on my face, totally ignoring Tom Jackson's greeting.

"You, look up..." Calvin Smith orders .

I slowly raise my chin up.

Calvin Smith smirks and takes off my hairpins,

"This hairpin doesn't fit you."

Then he walks towards the elevator, with a group of well suited assistants and guards around him.

"Geez, Alexia~" Andy Taylor excitedly pulled my arm back into the office.

"Do you know him?"

"Oh my God, how do you know each other?"

Surrounded by a crowd of nymphomaniac guys, I was enquired to answer how did I hook this new boss.

"I don't know him! I really don't know" I don't dare tell the truth, I'm still confused.

"Okay, okay, hurry up, it's lunch break time. Hurry up finishing our work at hand." It is not until Tom Jackson who finally steps in and the offices resumes silence.

"I can't believe you don't know him!" Gossiping Andy Taylor persists in the topic,

"How could he taken your hairpin.

"Oh my God, my hairpin!" I just realize I'd lost my hairpin.

"But, Manager Smith really has a good taste, I've long been displeased with your dark-colored hairpin,worthy of the reputation of school flower!" Andy stared closely at my face, "What a pretty little girl."

"Stop your bullshit,we are getting off work now~" I sit back, but very uneasy,

"What was his purpose in taking my hairpin , especially in front of all these people.

It was killing me."

I don't even have the mood to go to lunch and stay at my seat, asking Andy to bring me a cup of coffee.

"Here, have some water." Instead of Andy,Tom Jackson bring me a cup of water seeing me alone at my seat, but the water makes me even sadder, after 3 years in the department, this is the first time my superior shows his kindness towards me.

"Oh Alexia, I was so strict with you before, I didn't know about your relationship with Smith, I just wish you could pass him more kind words for me." Tom Jackson leans to my ears,.

"Mr. Tom Jackson, I think you misunderstood me!" The more he shows his enthusiasm, the more uneasy I feel

Tom Jackson then leaves with a wicked smile.

But gossips soon spread around every corner of the office.

I suffer a long afternoon, an hour before my day off, I open my whatsapp.

#Andy: Do you know you've become a popular topic in our company?

#Alexia: what?

#Andy : Just a lot of people saying you're the Mrs. SMITH !

#Alexia: ????

#Andy: And they say SMITH come to the company because of you!

#Alexia: What kind of crap is that, you can't believe it! It's really the first time I've seen him!

#Andy : hee, that group of plastic surgery women are pissed off. You, come on!

After reading ANDY's message,I am having a worse feeling. I want to get my hatpins back quickly.

The president's office.

I pluck up the courage to get on the president's exclusive elevator, feeling especially nervous.

I will ask him what he meant and why he took my hairpins. But I'm also afraid he'll bring up the past...

"Alexia, hello." A stranger comes up to me.

"Ah, hello, and who are youyou are?"The moment I asked, I feel regretted, no need to say, he is either the president assistant or the president.

Who else would be on this floor, stupid!

"I'm Warren Wilson, I'm Calvin Smith's assistant" Warren smiles elegantly.

"Alexia, what are you doing here"

He knows my name? "How did you know my name," I am so curious, even knowing this is an inappropriate question to ask.

"Well, It's not easy to answer. What are you doing here" Warren smiled, not answering me directly.

"My glasses were taken by President Smith and I want to get them back "I'm still oddly embarrassed to give this reason, but he let me dip into the gossip all around the company today, he must know about it.

"Oh yeah, but Smith isn't here right now, I'll ask that for you later." Warren sounds as if he knows something, which makes me feel weirder.

"Okay, all right, thanks, I'll leave then." I flee away; I don't want to stay here anymore second

"Wait" Warren calls me suddenly?

"Let's have dinner together tonight!"

What does he want to do; we've only met for a few minutes, why does he invite me to dinner.

Maybe he notices my strikingly awkward, he gently explains again, "I'm not a bad person oh, I just feel that you are very much like one of my school friend, I feel very intimate, and I'm also on my first day in the company, it's good to meet someone more."

After hearing his explanation, I am relieved, yeah, it's no big deal to get together with a colleague who only meet for a few minutes.

"Okay, okay, I'll see you after work then." I swipe the non-existent sweat on my face, give him a big smile and then left.

"Are you so vacant?" Calvin Smith who Warren had just told me is not at office suddenly shows up and stares at Warren Wilson with a smirk.

"No," Warren, who is being stared at, quickly pretends to be very busy, flipping through files and tapping on the keyboard.

17:00

Warren packs up his belongings and is just about to leave his position when the intercom phone on his desk ring, "Bro, what's up?" Yes, Calvin Smith is Warren Wilson's good bro.

"Let's eat together!" Calvin's tone couldn't be denied, but Warren has already made an appointment with me,

"But I have an appointment, then..... Why not go with us?" He is answered with a disconnected line.

Warren mutters: something is wrong with Calvin Smith, he is really into this little girl, he took someone's glasses and wants to rub it in, should I fix the match.

While I am ready to leave work and go for my appointment, Andy Taylor follows me and persists to go with me. She is thinking I am going on a blind date and want to see what type of man will I meet..

She is so fervent I just can't resister her and let her go with me..

If she saw me having dinner with Warren, she would know that I didn't know Smith.

In front of the office building, Warren's car is waiting there.

"I'm here, I guess I'm not too late." I greet him enthusiasmly and open the pilot seat door, but the car won't open.

"Alexia you sit in the back" .It is Warren's car and do as he pleases.

"By the way, do you mind if I bring a friend with me." Warren blurts out,

"Ah, it's fine, I bring one too, hahaha" I smile awkwardly, but am glad that it woudn't be as an awkward dinner as my awkward blind date.

The next moment, I realize it is a wrong judgment.

I sit awkwardly at the back of the car with Calvin Smith r, knowing this time; I am really in a mess.

How can I explain this to Andy.

Sure enough Andy is looking at me with a stunned look and then a gossiping face.

I am screwed.

"Alexia, I thought you were going on a blind date!" Andy whispers in my ear, but it's still so loud and Calvin certainly can hear every word.

"Blind date?" Calvin has a weird grin and I'm so embarrassed!

Warren is also freaking out, oh my god, Calvin Smith heard I was on a dinner date with Alexia, hopes he doesn't mistake this for the blind date, this is a huge misunderstanding!

All people in the car are falling into the silence due to respective awkwardness.

The car stops at a steakhouse.

When I go out of the car, I lean over to Warren and whisper, "The clothes Smith borrowed me, I'll give them to you tomorrow, please help to return to him."

Warren looks at me in surprise, after all, in his heart, his brother has never been so gentle.

Not to mention lending clothes to a girl.

"Okay, no problem" Warren smiles and looks over at Smith who is showing a very unpleasant expression.

After asking our tastes, Warren orders several classic dishes and then they have nothing else to say, the atmosphere falls into awkward again.

"It's okay if I smoke a cigarette." Smith finally says his first sentence and I quickly nod my head, "Please, I don't mind!

#Andy: Wow, he's so handsome when he smokes! I'm drooling!

I get a nymphomaniac message from ANDY,

# I'm actually going to say, he is so handsome I can't take my eyes off him!

"Hahaha" Warren laughs at the unabashedly flirtatious faces of the two ladies sitting on his opposite.

Hearing Warren's laughter, I realize how obvious I was acting. Hurry up and eat a little food.

"Ringing" my phone suddenly rings, it is my Mom.

"Excuse me; I'm answering a call." I quickly pick up my phone and go towards the bathroom.

"Mom, what are you doing" I know that Mom must be calling to introduce me to a blind date again, calluses has grown in my ears.

"Mom, I'm not going on a blind date, I'll find one on my own, I'll bring you a boyfriend!" I am so angry at Mom's words, and getting more outrageous, I can't control my volume, I finally blast and yell out, and hang up the phone.

When I turn around, I crash into someone's arms.

"I'm sorry." I look up, it's Calvin Smith again, another embarrassing sight for him, am I having a bone to pick with him....

"It's okay, let's go, l will get you guys home" not allowing me to say no, he takes Andy and me to that last intersection he sent me.

When I go out of the car, my mom calls me again, and I had to answer.

"You'll find a good boyfriend and then raise your head high." I've had enough and answer her in a perfunctory manner.

Andy, knowing my situation, strokes my back and tells me she would accompany me tonight, which really warms me up.

I am exhausted when we get home, but it seems that Andy had gone crazy, crazily bragging to me about how handsome Calvin Smith is and how perfect his body is, and even though I am exhausted, I really agree with her .

This man, truly, is God's pick.

"But, Alexia ah, I really think that Smith is really into you." Andy starts to gossip again, I really feel helpless.

"I told you this is the first time we met, why are you still gossiping?"

"Really, really, I really think he likes you, believe me, women's intuitions, yes!" Andy pattes her chest and promised, "Trust you? No way! Go to sleep!" I need to get away from this gossip.

In the middle of the night there is a knock on the door of my room, I open the door and it is Anni, she is a bit strange and she asks me to borrow money, I didn't hesitate to lend her the money, but should she stay with her mother's brother today and why does she stand here asking me to borrow money, out of trust I am not asking her anything, after all everyone has their own story unwilling to tell.
