"Um, can that even be called a castle?" I asked
"No, it can't!" Luna replied with a bright red face. She seemed to be embarrassed by her mother's actions. I guess maybe she was worried about being connected to strange things.
"This is pretty par for the course for that woman," Carin chimed in.
"Lana has always had a fondness for over-the-top things."
Lana, huh? So she knows her by name. It sounded like the two had some history together. There had to be a story behind it. As we continued a steady pace toward the palace, I decided to probe a little into the subject.
"You two know each other, then?"
"We do. I was sheltered as a guest for a time in the palace when I deserted. Lana took me in and looked after me until I eventually met Vivienne and left this country behind."
"Even though you were an enemy?"
