Starting On The Same Page

Silence reigned supreme throughout the journey, even if Vincent wanted to lighten up the mood, what could he have said to this… mean looking guy.

The guy looked very displeased with him and he had no idea why.

Luckily, their journey was not long, with the speed of the sport car it was even shorter than usual.

The pink Lambo topped at the side of the park—which occupied an open center space, the road twirled around it like a roundabout of some sort.

It was possible to enter the park since parking lots were available but it wasn't like he'd be staying any minute, it was better to drop him off by the side.

Vincent came out of the car and bowed ninety degrees.

"Thank you sir!"

Then he brisked away from the man before he could hear a reply, hurrying into the park.

Mereung park was not like every other park you get to see out there, it was an incredibly large land area and even served as a multipurpose of some sort.

Children section, there was a lake, park gymnasium, flower garden, teens play ground, even a maze… well, mini maze.

Since it was morning not many people were here except from a group of women, each with their mat and their yoga instructor in front of them.

Vincent ignored them and looked around.

"Yo… student"

He jerked forward almost falling down as he felt a hand touch him.

Vincent looked back with a slight frown.

"God you almost scared me!"

Daniel, wearing a plain white track suit, unzipped, displaying his black round neck inner, folded his arms and raised a brow.

"I saw that you were dropped by Tess's driver…"

Vincent looked at him.

'Why am I not surprised he knows her…'

They were all rich folks, one way or the other they all sort of knew each other.

Vincent cursed inwardly at his tragic fate.

Daniel lingered for a while then looked at him with a serious expression.

"Let me give you a piece of advice."

"What?"

"Stay away from her. That woman is a snake!"

"Woman… the girl I met."

Daniel looked like he wanted to go crazy as he heard him.

"Girl?!"

Vincent frowned at him.

"What?"

"Dude, you just called Tess?! That bitch is seven years older than I am and I am fifteen."

Vincent's eyes widened.

"She's twenty-two?!"

"No! She's twenty-four! I said seven!"

"Seven that makes it twenty-two, twenty-four would be nine years."

Daniel immediately became silent, he blinked a few times and placed his hand on his waist and chimed with a vibrant smile:

"I'm not good with calculations!"

'And he looks like he's saying it with pride!'

Daniel's voice rang out:

"See, see, my student. I am giving you this advice because I care about you okay? Tessa is like a vicious viper, she's a snake, you don't play around with her, she's the devil's spawn."

Vincent nodded.

"I've heard you. So what do where do we start?"

"Ah! That's right! We are starting from fifty push-ups! For you! Since you came…" He raised his hand to look at the leather watch on his wrist. "...three hours late!"

"Wait! Wait!! Three hours? What do you mean three hours?"

"I've been waiting for you since 6 AM. I was pretty hyped up about today you know. So I decided we should start early. But I didn't see you until like now so I ended up training alone for like two hours or thereabout."

"It's not like that's my fault, you didn't communicate any time and why would I come here by 6 AM. I wouldn't have agreed even if you said it."

Daniel slipped his hands into his pocket.

"I know, I thought about it that way too."

Vincent gave him a lopsided grimace as he continued.

"Which is why I decided to let you do fifty push-ups."

Vincent wrinkled a corner of his eyes.

"Fifty is what you reduced it to? Now I am very curious what it was supposed to be."

"Two hundred…" Daniel said blankly.

Vincent paused, blinking.

"Two hundred?" He repeated.

"Yes Two hundred. My benevolence knows no bound you see." He turned and gestured his hand.

"Now follow me. After fifty push-ups we will start on the basics of boxing. Today is going to be an interesting day." He mused and laughed as he and Northern trekked to the park gym.

Some few ripped men were already there, using the equipments and minding their business.

Daniel chose a separate quarter that was carpeted by low gree grass.

He dropped on the ground, his entire weight resting on two outspread arms, then easily went lower, then higher and lower.

He paused and looked at Vincent.

"What are you waiting for? This is your cue. Do your fifty quick."

Vincent with his eyes fixed on Daniel also copied the same position. At first there was a rush of adrenaline.

"1!"

The others looked at him, frowning their statuesque faces.

"2…" His voice went low.

"...3"

That one came a bit later than the last two.

The fourth one was even more distant and the fifth one… never made it.

Daniel turned his head.

"Hey, what are you doing lying on the ground like that?"

"What do you mean what am I doing lying on the ground. This thing is hard! You make it look so easy!!"

Daniel continued, murmuring, 41…42…43… up until he reached fifty then he looked at Vincent who was comfortably laying on the ground.

He stared in silence for a while and jumped up.

"This is not going to work. You can start with five for now. Let's just go straight into boxing."

Vincent sprang up, excited but tried to hide it… belatedly.

Daniel observed him for a while.

"Still I am shocked."

"Shocked about what?"

"You can't even do five push-ups and yet. You are quite good."

Vincent threw his head away, grinning smuggishly.

'I don't know if quite good is what to describe it… I mean this is all thanks to Blu'

He should probably try to clear the misunderstanding whatever way.

He turned his gaze back at Daniel.

"Honestly, I don't think I am any good. Maybe your impression of me during our fight was just luck. That is why I chose to accept your offer. I too want to grow stronger and protect myself."

Daniel's eyes sparkled.

"That's what I'm talking about champ! We sure are getting started on the same page."
