Chapter 10

I wanted to laugh, but he was dead serious.

"Why the hell would I be the one to fulfill the prophecy?"

He huffs, "Just because I'm only half witch doesn't mean I don't see things like mom."

My body jolts up, and I cover my ears, "Mother said telling others the future would ruin things." He gives a low growl.

He runs a paw through the mud, "I would not be that stupid Stella, it's just a guess, intuition." He looks at me and back to the ground where I had sat, "Let me tell you something."

I let my hands drop and before sitting down, Alder walks away. "I'll be right back." I nod knowing he didn't see it.

I watch Ryder and Cass mess with each other in the water. Ally waded deeper into the water towards them. I knew beating myself up did no use, but I couldn't do anything else.

The leaves nearby sway, and Ash walks out, no longer wolf, "I needed to get a break before we leave in a few minutes."

He walks over and sit next to me, the drizzle left his hair damp and floppy, and his clothes were wet from washing them in the river, "You are the one that will fulfill this last prophecy."

"But why me? How do you know?"

"Dad has finally shown the wolves that cross mating is okay, and there must be a reason why you are full wolf, while I am not. The prophecy states a future queen, and we have not had a royal born queen for many generations." He clasps his hands together, "We should probably get going now."

As he begins to stand, I grab his arm, "Wait."

I let go and he flops back down, "What's up?"

I was anxious to tell anyone, but it would better prove his theory, I move my wet hair behind my ears, "Remember when I drew all the time?"

He nods, "Yeah, but you refused to let anyone see what you were drawing. What does this have to do with?"

I grab the small book from my bag and hand it to him, "I think your idea on the prophecy is right." It took every part of me to say it. He opens the book and flips through the pages.

"This is-" He sighs, "Do you think it is your mate?" He looks up at me, he knew something, but was following Mother's directions.

"I do, he is all I can manage to draw, all I manage to freak about. And as we keep going, I feel like I am closer to knowing who this is." I point to the last picture, it was different from the rest, more detailed. I had drawn it last night after my dream.

Ash nods, understandably. He gives me the sketch book back and we both stand up. It was time to keep moving.

"Alright, we have to keep moving from the packs." Ash addresses the group from the edge of the water.

We finally reached a city as the sun started setting. It was like a million stars on the buildings, the light illuminated everywhere. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

We stood at the top of a hill, overlooking the entire area. A giant sign that read, "Welcome to New York City, Population: 8 Million." was behind us, "Let's go." Alder began running down, but we stayed put. He stopped and came back up.

"What's the problem?" We all stare at his wolf.

"We can't go into the society like this." Rocky was the first to say anything. He walks back into the trees. We all follow, but in separate directions.

I brought a pair of pj's with me, along with as many clothes I could fit into the bag, including the one I've been wearing. I decide to change into an oversized Twenty-One Pilots shirt and some leggings. I pull on my red sweater as well.

I was the first one done, which surprised me, as I was normally the last. Then I realize Ryder and Asher were waiting by the sign, I walk over.

"You are an idiot." Ryder laughs.

"Huh?" I stop in front of them. Ryder immediately stops, and gains his composure.

"Ash only brought one pair of clothes." This makes me almost crack up too, until I realize his small tote was gone.

"Where did your bag go?" I look at him, he put his hands in his jean pockets. I pull my bag over my head to carry it over the shoulder.

"I think I left it at the river, Ally had packed me a spare in her bag. I am going to grab it tomorrow." He sighs and leans against the sign.

"But that's a 6-hour run."

He shrugs, "I need some things that were in it." He looks over at me as if the trip was no big deal, which was typical for him.

Ally and Cass walk out moments later, "You're running back to grab it tomorrow?" Ally was as surprised as I was.

"Like I said, there are some really important things in there." He leaves it at that and starts walking downhill.

We follow him, it was steep, and some points dropped many feet. The sun had officially set by the time we were in the city.
