Chapter 9, Luna and Joy: College

Luna POV:

"MOM, IM HOME!," I said as I closed the door.

My mother came running to me with a big smile on her face.

"Luna there you are-wait its passed 4 pm where were you,"

"Oh I had tutoring, sorry I should have called,"

"Let me guess...Algebra,"

I sighed.

"Yeah, Algebra,"

"Well it's a good thing you came to this school right, now you can have extra help," She said with a big grin.

"Yeah, I guess,"

"Well, this Friday, your father and the whole family were invited to his Bosses Manor, there very close and he has two kids around your age, a great way to make friends don't you think,"

I sighed annoyingly and dropped my bag on the floor while slumping on the couch.

"Mom, we talked about this, I'm fine as an introvert, I don't need friends, and do I have to go,"

"Of course you do, your father and his boss go way back there best friends and they want to meet each others family,"

"But I'm busy Friday,"

My mother gave me a raised eye.

"Doing what,"

"...stuff,"

'....'

"You're going,"

And with that, my mother left the living room.

I sighed and walked down the hallway to get to my room.

That's when Lucas came out of his room. He had no shirt on with revealed his very fit body that he got from playing soccer and his 6 packed abs. He had slippers on and his boxers, while his hair was messy.

"Where were you," He asked.

"Tutoring, and can you please put something on,"

"It's my house, I should have the right to wear whatever I want,"

"The problem isn't what your wearing, its that you're NOT WEARING ANYTHING AT ALL,"

"I'm wearing my Spongebob boxers tho,"

I sighed and walked into my room. Lucas followed me in and jumped on my bed.

"What the hell!"I said trying to get him off.

"Look sis I need your help with something,"

"If I help you would you leave me alone,"

"Positive,"

I sighed, I sat on my desk.

"Ok, what,"

"So there's this girl named Risa,"

"Really a girl,"

"She's pretty,"

"Dude we've been to this school for like 2 days,"

"I know but shes my type it was love at first sight,"

"Love at first sight doesn't exist,"

"That's not true,"

"If you like her than just ask her out, I mean you've seduced tons of girls at our old school, so why is this a problem,"

"I don't know, I guess when you really like someone you tend to get nervous,"

I jumped on the bed sitting next to him.

"You don't need to be nervous your a great guy, if she rejects you she rejects you, but then you'll know shes, not the one, I mean Love doesn't come easy, I learned that the hard way, so just be you, that's all I could really say,"

"wow sis, thanks that's some great advice,"

"But then again I get why you'll be insecure especially with that one inch," I said giggling.

"Hey SHUT UP!," he said throwing a pillow at me.

"GUYS YOUR FATHERS HOME,"

"What the heck he's here early," Lucas said surprised.

"I guess with the holidays coming up they let them out early, "I stated

I got up from the bed, but before I could leave, I threw Lucas a towel.

"Put some clothes on before mom and dad sees you like that and beat the shit out of you, "I said.

"Alright Alright,"

Joy POV:

"AGHHH!!!!!,"I mentally screamed.

Me and Jack were in the entertainment room doing our homework. I couldn't focus whatsoever for some reason.

"Hey sis what's the matter," Jack asked.

"Its nothing,"

As I went back to my homework packet, my mother came into the room, in her apron from cooking dinner.

"Joy, your father wants to see you in his study room," she said.

I looked at my brother who was more confused than I was.

My father never really paid attention to me whatsoever, he didn't even come to my fifth-grade graduation because it wasn't that important. I always hated my father, but if I had said that to his face, I would be kicked out like my sister.

"I'm coming, "I said.

I followed my mom into the study room, when she opened the door for me, there my father was sitting at his desk.

"You called father,"

"Yes sit,"

I sat at the chair in front of his desk, being called to his study room was a once in a lifetime. I have only been in here at least 3 times when I was younger. The room was dark because there were no windows. The only light came from the lamps on the table. There were bookshelves all over the room.

My father took out a few papers from his file and handed them over to me.

"These are a few of the best Nursing University in the city,"

"Nur-"

"I saw your GPA your Winter Report card came in, I'm proud of how great your average came out, you'll be able to get into great universities with this, since your a senior you should be focused on college now,"

Did he say he was proud of me, I thought.

"But father did you say nursing,"

"Yes, this family produces medical workers, I'm a surgeon, your stepmother used to be a nurse, Josh is a Doctor, Justin is becoming a future doctor, and you will be a nurse, and maybe in the future Jack will be a doctor,"

"Why can't I be a Doctor like my brothers, "I asked confused.

"As a woman having a much more stressful job like a doctor isn't great, after all when you get married it's easier to quit being a nurse than a doctor," he said.

My father was writing something in his work file, and ever since I got here he hasn't even made eye contact with me once.

"Actually father, I don't want to be a nurse,"

He stopped writing on his file and looked at me.

"Do you perhaps want to be a doctor or a surgeon, if that's the case I won't stop you, just study har-,"

"No, I don't want to work in the medical field,"

My father's calm quiet face turned emotionless.

"You don't want to be a do-"

"I want to be a writer,"

His face looked shocked, and he looked as if he was getting angry.

"As in author, why," he said.

"I love to write and read stories, and with my grades, I'll get into a great coll-,"

My father slammed a book across the wall making me shiver in fear.

"How dare you!, I raised you all these years and this is how you respect me, don't think your high and mighty just cause you might get scholarship, both your brothers had much more high GPA's than you!,"

"But fath-,"

He slammed his hand on the table.

"Be quiet, you will become a nurse and marry into a rich family, and if you don't you'll be put out on the street, like that whore!,"

Tears started building in my eyes, I was shivering and couldn't say a thing.

"Get out of my sight," he said as he went back to his work.

I got up and walked out of the study room, to see Jack and his mother there at the door.

Judging by Jack's face they heard the conversation.

I left them and ran to my room, and before they can chase me, I locked the door.

I jumped on my bed and started sobbing.

I just wish I was born into a better family.
