Chapter 4, Luna: Tutoring?

Luna POV:

School was already over at 4:00, and I went out of my class to go to my brother, to only be blocked by a bunch of kids swarming out of class.

Gezz there were at least 500 seniors on this floor.

As I walked down the hall, I kept thinking about the missing people on the paper, and then my head went back to the girl, Joy. At first, I thought she was just your cliche good girl/pushover, but it was more than that. There was emptiness in her eyes. She didn't have any empathy for the missing people,it was the first time I met someone that had no light in their eyes, "emotionless".

I tried to get it out of my head and kept on walking, till I heard someone tap me on my shoulder. It was Mr. Ruvv.

"Hi Luna, I know school is over but I was hoping we can talk in my office."

"um...sure"

He took me back to the room and had me sit down, and then sat in front of me.

"So what is this about," I asked.

"Well, Luna...I looked into your grades from Australia, you have a good GPA,...but you haven't been doing that good in Algebra."

Algebra,...ALGEBRA!!

I honestly hated math so this was honestly no surprise, especially algebra, I always flunked on all my tests.

"um well...is it really that bad"

"Luna, Algebra is 70% of your mathematics grade this semester, and since you came at the end of November, it is a serious deal"

"ahh I see"

Shit, the last thing I need is to flunk my grades, dad and mom will kill me. They'll think it's a rebellion for having to leave Australia, and ill definitely not be able to go back.

"Um...is there anything I can do to get back on track"

"Of Corse! There is always a solution for everything!"

"Ok, what?"

"Tutoring"

"HUH!"

"No worries its free, as long as you'll do great in school"

"Look I don't think that is necessary, I mean I can just study myself, "I said smiling nervously.

"Look Luna I was just like you, I thought it was useless having people help you when they'll just get in the way, it wasn't until I got to college that I learned one's kindness and empathy can cure the darkness away. Since your new and from another country I know how hard it must be to get adjusted, but don't fear I'm always here for you."

What the hell, this dude talks a lot.

Already my first day and I had a whole lecture.

"Alright fine, but if I don't like the tutor than I'm studying by myself"

"Of course, whatever makes you comfortable," He says.

Perfect, I thought. All I gotta do is meet the tutor and then complain to Mr.Ruvv, he isn't the type of person to force me anyway.

"I'll be heading out now"

I left Mr. Ruvv's class after his whole lecture on being a more sociable person. Gezz how annoying I thought.

I headed downstairs to find the whole school hall empty. It was so quiet, and breathless. I felt like I was in my own world,.....till I saw my brother roaring at me.

"LUNA WHERE WERE YOU!"

"Damn, can you like bring that 10 to a 2, my head hurts."

"I waited like 20 minutes"

"Sorry ok, my homeroom teacher was telling me that I have to do tutoring for Algebra"

"oh...THAT'S STILL NO EXCUSE"

I rolled my eyes.

"No wonder you don't have a girlfriend, you'll scare her off"

"Shut up,"

We started chasing each other out of the school.

As me and Lucas walked home he suddenly stopped in front of a Deli.

"What now"

"wait for me here, I'm buying a honey bun"

"What seriously, just buy it from the Deli near our house"

"No, a friend from school, told me this deli has it for 50cents, the other delis have it for 75cents."

He already has a friend, huh. I wasn't surprised, Lucas was more sociable than I was so he's bound to make tons of friends.

"It's just a 25cent difference," I said.

"I'm not a money waster like you"

'And with that,he ran off in.

Gezz so cheap, I thought.

I stood waiting for him, till something startled me in the ally.

A boy in our school uniform came in front of me he looked a little flushed, what the heck I thought.

"Hi sorry to bother you, I'm George"

"Um...Hello"

He pulled out his phone and handed it to me.

"I was...well...wondering if I can get your number"

Ahh here we go again, I thought.

My brother came out with a honey bun in his mouth happy.

"huh, what the hell is going on" he said.

"Its nothing just keep going"

He saw my eyes and knew I was serious so he just went along.

George was still waiting for me to say something.

I sighed.

"Why do you even want my contact information"

"Well...cause I'm interested in you"

Ha.

George looked pretty innocent and just by guessing he was definitely younger than me.

"George was it,you looked like a pretty good person, I'm sorry but I'm not interested in you, I hope you'll find someone else whose a better match"

I started walking away to catch up to Lucas.

"Um...wait"George said.

I turned around to see him.

"Can I have a proper answer tho?"he said.

Hmm, should I tell him, I thought, why not?

"Hmm well let's just say, I'm gay".
