The Minister of War was robust and had no difficulty riding a horse. The attendants he chose were all skilled horse riders and were incredibly fast. The exception to this was Zhou Jie, who wasn't adept at horse riding. Originally, he didn't know how to ride at all and only learned for the sake of visiting the soldiers on the frontier. He could barely hold himself on a horse.
Zhou Jie had just barely reached the frontlines when his horse was suddenly shot by an arrow. Although the shot wasn't fatal, it still spooked the horse, causing it to bolt away.
Xiaotian had a sinking feeling as Liuliu was now out of his sight. The possibility of something happening to her was more than he could bear. Even though he saw Zhou Jie's horse bolting and he had no heart to pursue it, he still signaled a few of his soldiers to chase after it. Similarly, the Minister of War signaled a few of his attendants to give chase.
