Adeline’s POV
I sigh as I relax on the couch in one of the many living rooms of the mansion. The rain is pouring outside, and a sense of serenity encases the room as the warmth of the fire leaks out.
Zale and his parents are currently in a meeting now, talking about whether or not it would be a good idea to tell the pack about their new luna. I don’t know how things work in pack life, but I know being accepted by that stone has changed something in me.
He asked whether I wanted to be there for the discussion, and I was too tired to argue about anything at this point, so I politely declined. But just as I close my eyes, my ears pick up the sound of heavy footsteps as they approach the door to the living room.
The doorknob turns, and someone enters the room.
“It’s just me,” Zale says as he closes and locks the door behind him.
“Oh,” I say as I lean back onto the couch again.
