Chapter 14

Ollie helped me move my new bed to the panic room and he left to take care of grandma. I locked the door behind him and couldn't remember the security code so I didn't punch it in. I had Ollie locked the doors to the stairs. So I used the elevator and made sure that it doesn't leave without me. I was so scared that I just went through the first door that was opened. I lay on the bed and after a few hours I passed out. I woke up and realized that I was in the panic room. I also realized that it was the best night sleep I ever had. My stomach started to rumble so I got on the elevator and reached downstairs. I heard strange sounds and panicked. I called dad and he asked me to find out who it was. So I followed the voices and saw that the screamer had successfully broke into my house. He was making himself at home in the kitchen with his girlfriend. He was too busy cooking for her to see that I had caught him red handed. He couldn't come forward and lie about me or try to convince me to look the other way just once. I didn't bother to ask him why he was here or listen to his excuses. I just dialed 911. He didn't hear the sirens. This meant he didn't realize that I was hidden somewhere in the house. He didn't know that I had decided to come down for breakfast and saw that he was here. I chose not to play wingman. I was furious that he had the nerve to show up so I called the police. I opened the door to let the cops in and heard a distinct scream. She

was informed why they were there. She protested as the uniform cops escorted them out to his actual house in their underwear. Everybody came out to find out why the police showed up at this time of the day. She was so embarrassed that the entire neighborhood saw her like that. Till they reached his house she would give him the look of death. He looked like he had accomplished his greatest mission. He was neither ashamed or embarrassed. He looked like he would do it again.

One of the cops was my cousin. He got scared things might get worse so he called Auntie. She arrived looking scared. She believed that I was assaulted. She made me tell her everything and she went to work. First she made some calls to all sorts of people for new changes around the house. First she changed the locks in the blink of an eye. Also she sterilized the entire ground floor and even changed the furniture for me as well. She came barreling toward the police complaining about the screamer calling him a hooligan. This earned a few angry remarks from the screamer. He seems to think that one day he will be the owner of this house. He didn't perform the crucial moves for it to be possible. I reminded him that this wasn't his grandma's house. His date was insulted that he dared to break into my house. Also what he aspires to do in the future. Aunt seemed to be pleased that someone felt ashamed of their actions. She made some calls and got her out without pressing any charges. To show her appreciation the screamer's date made a few calls of her own to get me a permanent restraining order so he can't come in. The police cuffed him and dragged him to the police car. He was still in his underwear. Vera was concerned he will try again and was about to say something when Mrs. Finch approached her to assure her. She had heard why I moved here and saw scared I was. Apparently the screamer has become a nuisance to this peaceful community. She promised her that the neighbors will absolutely call the cops in case he tried to break in. They are concerned for me. Not to mention that they hate him.
