'WHAT WAS SHE GOING TO SAY?'

"Go upstairs and get dressed. We are leaving in fifteen minutes."

That was all said after which Della found herself in her mother's chevrolet, driving towards the Randall's mansion.

She rested her head against the glass window, watching the street lights recede backwards as they moved forward.

Bethany looked over at her daughter, awefully quiet, which was very unlike her.

She would always look forward to these dinners all the time and constantly guess about which one of her favroute dish Tinsley would have asked her cook to make for her.

It had become a tradition so far which would resemble the situation as it was in the moment only if they, her and Shawn would have a fight.

And Bethany assumed that was the case as she drove, eyeing Della, who was lost in her own world to care about her mother's gazes.

She could only wonder how she was going to stay away from him because it would be very hard to do so without making the parents know that something was up.

Even the slightest bit of tension in their relationship would draw attention because they were practicaly inseparable from each other unless something went down the drain between them.

As soon as they reached the entrance gates, it opened on its own as Bethany drove through it inside. Her vehicle was scanned approved.

And through the periphery of her view, she could see the large porch empty. From last few years, she had gotten used to it because before that, he would be waiting for her by the porch and then open the door for her, taking her hand in his, they would run inside without waiting for her mother to even come out of the car.

She looked away dissapointed. It had been a few years by then, still getting used to something that was always and not in the time being was always hard.

So many things changed ever since that summer. Sometimes she wished that if she had not went with her mother to look after her estranged grandfather, would things have remained the same.

Because if she was there, he would not have gotten involved with those new friends of his and eventually get so close with them to the point of forgetting about how it used to be like when it was just the two of them.

"We are so late tonight."

Bethany mumbled as she parked the car in front of the porch for Della to get out and before she could open her door, someone did it.

It was none other then him, with a smile plastered on his evergreen face that would always light up her heart just like that but tonight, it caught her by surprise.

"Hello to you too, Beth."

He greeted her and Beth nodded at the young boy as he held the door open for her daughter.

"You look lovely this evening."

He said and Beth shook her head disregarding the remark knowing the boy was trying to pull her legs.

Of all the evenings, tonight she just rushed her way in and he had the audacity to tell her she looked lovely.

But that was how Shawn Randall was. Unlike his father, who was very stiff, he was outgoing, something that he inhereted from his mother.

"Do you plan to get out of the car anytime soon now Della?"

Beth cracked making her absent minded daughter to get out of her stance and walk out.

"Im glad you bought that up Beth, my hands were starting to ache from holding this door often for so long..."

Shawn joked and Della narrowed her eyes at him.

"It is not made up ten tonnes of metal."

She mocked him and Shawn closed the door shut saying he would see Beth inside as she drove it towards the parking lot and out of the front of the veranda.

"Did you deliberately make us wait for dinner tonight?"

He asked, with a fun poking tone. It always got into her nerves and he liked doing it so much.

"Perhaps I did...who could tell?"

She chuckled and walked inside without waiting for him to follow her behind. Of course, he ran after her, knocking over at her shoulder, making her to turn around to eye him but he was already at the front.

"For a moment, I thought you guys were ditching us tonight."

It was Tinsley and it made Della turn to the other side again. The dinner table was set and the maids were waiting to pull their chairs.

"I was about to call you guys."

Just then Beth also entered and Tinsley called out to her husband who climbed downstairs, greeting both the mother and daughter.

"The bakery had its moment today so closed a bit late."

Beth bit onto her tongue as she made them know why they were late. All of them right away made their way towards the dining hall.

"Not a bit late, Beth...too late."

Tinsley let out as they all sat in their usual designated place. While Della had a hard time thinking if she should or not sit beside him.

And when she saw that he was waiting for that moment exactly, she decided otherwise and instead turned to the other side, taking a sit beside Mapples.

"Hey! That is my place."

Ava dramatically raised her voice, gaining everyone's attention on the table.

"Your place is here, Adella in case you forgot. "

He pointed to the one beside him. Even the entire family was looking at her questionably as to what was up for her taking the other seat.

"But I want to sit with Maples tonight."

She spoke out, parting her eyes off of his. Tinsley asked Ava to take the seat beside her brother instead for tonight, who did it not without shaking her head dejectively over whatever stupidified feud her brother and Della was having.

"So how was school today kids."

A question that Kian Randall would aways ask once they all were sat at the table as the dinner started, making Della remind about everything that had happened in the daytime.

'What was she going to say?'
