Ch 70: Are you okay miss?

He returned her smile, "Okay honey, I will. One more phone call." *** Abigail punched out, gathered her handbag and left the store. Her feet were beginning to swell. It became more noticeable at the end of the shift in the last week. It was odd really because she was by her estimate, about two months pregnant.

The extra weight wasn't noticeable at all yet except for the slight change in her abdomen. She stopped at a nearby newsstand to buy a paper and the front cover made her drop her bag on the ground. "You okay miss?" Billionaire Tycoon Dies, Leaves All to Son, was in bold large print on the cover with a picture of Jayden Ross underneath. Her heartfelt like it weighed a thousand pounds at that moment.

Owen was there for her through the death of her brother and she wasn't for him. Even though the events that led her to flee from him, she still was family and should have been there. Poor Alice! She started to weep.

"Are you okay miss?" He repeated a little awkwardly. Pretty women crying in front of his newsstand was not a common occurrence and quite frankly, he didn't know what to do. "I'm fine." She said and quickly walked away heading for home. She at least had to call Alice.

However, when she got to the front steps of her building she stopped at the sight that waited for her. Owen. He was wearing Jeans, a black leather jacket and was sitting on the front steps looking gorgeous as usual. His silver Limo was parked across the street and was drawing a lot of attention.

He stood when he saw her and thrust his hands into his jeans pockets. "hi." He looked so boyishly innocent with an unsure smile tugging at his nice masculine lips causing a dimple to form to the left of his mouth.

Gosh was he always so handsome? Already she knew the answer to that. She couldn't possibly be angry with him. Her heart hurt for the pain he must've gone through in the past few days. "Your father died." It was a stupid thing to say but she had mixed emotions running through her right now. Part of her wanted to leap on him and weep.

The other half wanted to rip him apart for betraying her trust. However, the death of his father made her try and choose a neutral ground. "He did." He stated softly. "Is Alice—" He held up his hand, "—she's being brave and trying to cope as best as she knows.

I think she's trying to be strong like some other woman we know." She looked down at her feet for a moment. It was hard to look at him. She needed to recoup her defenses. The man was too intoxicating. "When's the funeral?" "Come and gone. His wishes." Her eyes darted back up to his with fresh tears forming in them "Oh Owen, how awful. I should have been there—" "I'm a grown man. I'll be fine."

"Like you were when Joseph died—I saw you in his room." She confessed suddenly. He erected himself and cocked his head slightly, "Interesting that you never said anything then." "I knew you were doing your best by me. If you wanted me to know you would have said something."

"Perhaps." He said running his eyes over her face. "I should phone Alice." She changed the subject. Him standing there was affecting her too much. It didn't help that her hormones were all out of whack and she wept at the stupidest things. "You should." He said softly and took a few steps toward her.

She took one step back, " Owen don't—please." He reached into his inside jacket pocket and withdrew the photo, "I haven't slept with this woman in almost two years." Her eyes darted to the picture, "How did you get that?

" "cheetah are you listening?" Her eyes went back to his they were loaded with suspicion, "That was in my apartment." Didn't he get this at all? You don't just go waltzing into someone's place and take their property. "Yes, it was. I took it."
