Ch 49: Go on dear

"I thought you had a meeting?" She said trying to keep the excitement out of her voice at hearing his. "I stepped out for a moment to answer an important call and thought I would see how you're doing. I don't like leaving you alone during the day."

"I'm fine." "Are you Abigail? Did you want to come to see me at lunch again? I could order out. I'll have Daisy—hawk lady, as you call her," he chuckled, "get us something." She didn't know what to say. He seemed to sense her hesitation. "I miss you already." He added. "How could I refuse you after that?" She sighed causing him to chuckle again.

There was another voice in the background on his end of the phone. A feminine voice. "Who's that?" "My Assistant….sorry cheetah got to go. See you in a bit." "Bye." She replied and they hung up. That was quick for him to get a Personal Assistant so fast. Well, she guessed it wouldn't be hard with a temp agency. It surprised her with the feelings of worry that developed. The woman sounded young.

What if she was pretty too? Keeping that in mind she took time making herself look as pretty as she possibly could. She chose a lovely form-fitting white dress with black piping and a scoop neckline. It was very flattering to her figure without being too revealing. As Owen had asked her, she left her hair down, pulled on two-inch black strappy heels and accessorized with an ebony purse.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she decided that was the best she could get. The ride in the elevator seemed endless and she became more nervous than she was in the car ride across town. Maybe the PA (Personal Assistant) was an older woman like his secretary but had a young voice. Although she thought it, she certainly didn't believe it and she was correct in her assumption when his secretary hopped up and opened the door for her without hesitation and she got a look at her.

The woman, Daisy, had done an about-face overnight. She even gave her a warm smile, that Abigail couldn't help but return until she has seen the gorgeous red-head leaning over Owen at his desk. Neither one of them seems to notice that she was standing in the doorway. He smiles fell.

Daisy noticed it. "Go on dear," said the secretary, "She has nothing on you. Hold your head up." Abigail looked at the older woman and nodded, "I was wrong about you." She admitted sheepishly.

"That makes two of us. Now go on." She patted her arm. "Abigail!" Owen finally noticed and quickly stood, walked around his desk and unashamedly kissed her on the mouth leaving his assistant gaping.

Then he looked over his shoulder, " Ruby, I'll see you after lunch. I want some time alone with my fiancé." "Of course Mr. Ross ." The woman made a point of giving Abigail a once over before she gathered some files and left his office with an exaggerated sway of her hips shutting the door behind her.
