More Than A Hero

Fame wasn't Saitama's primary goal for being a hero. But what if his achievements were recognized? *** Please keep in mind that even though I'm a huge fan of the OPM franchise, I cannot replicate each of the character's personalities accurately. And please note that updates wouldn't be frequent. This is an improved version of my previous fic. Or a completely new one idk. And yes, I am back.

Mysterious Child(3)

The evening breeze blew against the wind, disturbing the leaves that swayed with it. Footsteps were heard in the unusually quiet forest, and three figures appeared. One looked ragged and beaten, with both arms gone, while the other two were fine.

Saitama led the way this time, they were almost at the end of the forest, so he did not have any trouble finding their way. His disciple followed behind him, his face was as usual, but with a hint of disappointment lingering around him. After his fight with the cyborg gorilla from earlier, he had interrogated him.

...

Earlier, the gorilla released information about their organizations and intentions. Apparently, they were searching for an escaped subject, and it turns out, this subject was the small girl sitting on Saitama's shoulders, who rested her head against Saitama's and idly played with her hair. The gorilla, now introduced himself as Armored Gorilla, shivered in fear as he remembered what the harmless-looking child in front of him did to his comrades.

She was merciless, she killed and slaughtered them greedily, this made him remember Carnage Kabuto, the ultimate creation of the House of Evolution. He is the epitome of human suffering, he was a psychopath whose strength and power increase when he enters Carnage Mode. During this period of time, he will not stop until exactly one week has passed.

Armored Gorilla explained everything he knew, he noticed the child looking at him from time to time, staring dangerously... It sent shivers down his spine, knowing that this child could possibly match Carnage Kabuto in terms of power.

Though, this makes him wonder even more as to how the child has not yet killed the person whose shoulder she was riding on. He has never seen the child interact with anyone without having the urge to pierce them with her blood tendrils. It was simply unbelievable.

Armored Gorilla has completely given up on survival, experiencing such a situation was too much for him. He has only gone out of the House of Evolution a few times. Yet, he never encountered a situation where he is forced to fight. Minutes passed and soon, an hour went by.

The three of them had already disappeared from Armored Gorilla's sight, good, this was the perfect chance for him to inform the higher-ups of his findings. His head opened revealing a signal of some kind. It rotated around a few times, then he suddenly retracted it when he noticed someone coming back.

"Question. Was it you who destroyed an entire village four years ago?" Genos said menacingly as he pointed his glowing hand towards Armored Gorilla. "H-how could it be?! I've been inside the House of Evolution my entire life, rarely do I even have the chance to come out like this..." He dejectedly said.

"Then, does this 'House of Evlotution' you speak of have any other cyborgs like you? If not, then do you perhaps know other cybernetic beings?"

"N-no, I am the only artificially created being inside of the House of Evolution that is over 80% part cybernetic. Doctor Genus have never made a second one nor does he plan to do so." Armored Gorilla said, sweat running down his head. This whole situation nerved him, never had he encountered such fearsome opponents.

Genos dropped his raised arm and said, "Then, inform the House of Evolution that my master and I shall come and destroy this evil organization." He turned around and followed behind Saitama, who was already hundreds of meters away.

...

"Sensei, it seems we have someone targeting our backs. I've searched the HA's database and found out that the 'House of Evolution' has been on their watch list for a while now." Genos informed his master, who did not even bother listening to his disciple's words. Genos expected as much and changed the subject. "Therefore, once we finish this mission I shall prepare high-quality wagyu been as a celebration." He smirked, the mentioning of high-quality beef always captures his master's attention.

Genos almost couldn't believe that such a powerful person's interest is as such. Though he promised to get accustomed to it, his master seems to love it passionately. "Really?! Man, I haven't had been in such a long time... you're a lifesaver, Genos." Saitama said as he turned around, the small girl on his shoulder has fallen asleep. She now rested her head against Saitama's bald head.

His master seems to be thinking of something deeper. "Hm, didn't they say that the monster terrorising this forest had blood-coloured tentacles..? Doesn't that sound like someone we recently knew?" Saitama inquired Genos, who did not know this and immediately checked the database. "It seems that is indeed the case, master."

"This monster was seen walking around in ragged clothes, a very thin figure almost that of a child... Which matched the figure resting on top of you right now. It was also seen wielding blood-red spiked tendrils." Genos said, unsure what to make of this situation.

When Genos saw the small girl's capabilities, he was shocked. Not because of her powers... but because of the results his scanner displayed. It was a high-end device designed to specifically scan to confirm if they are monsters or not. Yet, this girl... did not register as a monster, nor a human.

'Maybe she's a mix of both species..? No, that is highly improbable.' Genos pondered. He has come across research on this topic before and every single one of them ended in failure or writing it off as an impossible feat. 'Creating a cross-species of a human and monster would be unbelievable... but, who is to say no one has done it before?' He thought about it, there are many people with minds that far transcend that of an ordinary human.

Genos knew of three people. One is Dr Kuseno, to who he was greatly indebted. The other was Metal Knight who was currently the S-Class Rank 6 hero, he was one with many mysteries surrounding him, Genos had never met the hero before, but considering he mostly uses his robotic creations as his public appearance, Genos thought that maybe... he had some connections with that crazed cyborg.

The third one was Child Emperor, despite still being a 10-year-old kid he has already achieved feats that no man could ever dream of. Currently ranked the fifth highest, Child Emperor was the youngest member in the entire Association. Despite that, his fighting prowess far surpasses many heroes and his intelligence was unparalleled. Yet even the three of them, as far as Genos knew, could not create something like a half-human-monster being.

Genos stopped in his track. He has already called Dr Kuseno for assistance, in his current form, he could still theoretically fight off monsters, but meeting any strong opponents along the way to Dr Kuseno's hideout would be troublesome.

"Sensei! I shall part ways with you here. I've contacted Dr Kuseno and will receive his assistance in a short while." Genos said, his expression betraying his current looks. His right arm was fully torn, while his left was cut off halfway to his elbow. His left eye has been gouged out and a huge gash sliced across his chest.

His clothes were ripped, and only his jeans survived.

"Oh, okay, see you then." His master replied, to which he bowed respectfully and turned right, they were in a cross-section and Saitama's apartment was in the opposite direction Genos was heading. Genos tracked the drone Dr Kuseno sent, it was the usual one that picked him up.

Saitama stared at his disciple's back, his face was blank when he felt a tug on his cape. The child that was sitting on his shoulder had come down to the ground, she tugged at Saitama's cape while wiping her eyes. She awoke from her slumber when she felt Saitama stop walking.

"So uh, you still hungry..?" He questioned. Saitama wasn't concerned if this child was the monster they were hunting, nor did he actually care if she indeed was the one. In his eyes, she was merely a child lost in the depths of the forest. He was still pondering how he would deal with her, he could hand her over to the police and let them handle it.

'Actually, nah. She doesn't seem like the type to... wait-isn't she being way too calm?' He looked down at the child, he only noticed it now, but never once had he seen the child shiver in fear before those monsters from before. 'I mean, she may be strong for her age but isn't she still a kid?'

He furrowed his eyebrows, Saitama did not like thinking about these things. The only thing that should be occupying his mind is the market sales and coupons.

"Sigh, let's go get something to eat..." In the end, he gave up the thought of handing her over and decided to give in to his hunger. The kid merely nodded her head and followed him. Saitama knew a great udon shop somewhere in City-Z. He drooled at the thought of that delicious food.

The child tilted her head, confused why Saitama was making such a face.
