The fury of a woman scorned

The following morning it was Old Alma who came to see to her needs. 

As usual Maxixe slept beside her without touching her and when she woke up he had already left without saying a word or even leaving a note behind.

Silence was not always golden, in this case it made her feel dread in anticipation of what further revenge he had in store for her.

He said previously that her life now belonged to him for Captain Herbert's part in his brutal beating and consequent slaying of his mother. 

Maxixe made her feel like she was unworthy because he placed little to no value on her life because of all that she herself had done to him.

If it was his plan to separate her from their son why bring her to the Fairy Knoll why not just have her confined to one of the many human properties he owned?

Kaoma could admit to herself that she was not in the mood to be on the receiving end of sympathetic looks that she got from Old Alma.
