Moonlit Betrayal: A Luna’s Choice

“I, Edwina Streak-Ridge of formerly of Silverstreak Pack…” spoke Edwina. Aaron knew what was coming. “No, no, stop! You cannot.” But Edwina ignored him. “…adopted daughter of Everridge Hounds, reject you, Aaron Silvermaw, the Lycan Prince as my mate,” shouted Edwina, tears streaming down her face. A bright light escaped Edwina’s chest and she fell to her knees clenching her chest to ease the pain. Aaron stood before her completely frozen, perplexed. He couldn’t believe what Edwina just said. She was his true love. How could she reject him and why? “Why? Why? Tell me what my fault is?” begged Aaron. Edwina wiped her tears, stood up and simply walked away from him. ***** Edwina was adopted by Alpha and Luna of Everridge Hounds after her parent were killed in a rogue attack. She is not an ordinary wolf, she is the wolf blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. She gave her ‘glow’ to Edwina. Everything was fine in her life, she was the most loved, and everyone thought she would be the best Luna but she rejected Aaron and went away from her wolf life. She returned the day her Aaron was about to be engaged to another she-wolf. It broke her heart. But why did she feel bad? She already rejected Aaron. He was free to choose a chosen mate. He was free to live his life his own way.

The Fake Crying

"Give me the phone!" snapped Thorin. "Hi! Sis. How are you?"

"You called me to ask this. What do you want?" asked Edwina.

"We are talking after so many days and this is how you greet me?" asked Thorin.

"Thorin!" said Edwina.

"Okay, okay, I will tell you one thing, but you cannot get angry," said Thorin.

"What did you do now? Does Mom and Dad know?"

"So you think I call you whenever I get into trouble?" snapped Thorin.

"Just tell me what did you do?

"Um… I… what I did was… well there is someone who wants to talk to you. Don't hate me, I love you," said Thorin and handed the phone to Valenthia.

"Hello!" said Valenthia.

"Valen!!" murmured Edwina with shock.

"You idiot!! I will kill you!" shouted Valenthia. "How could you leave me alone? You are my soul mate. And you just left me. Didn't even tell me where you were going," she snapped.

"Valen! How did you…?" Edwina could not complete her sentence.

"How did I know that this idiot talks to you? Well, this idiot sometimes slips up. He does not know but I felt that he talks to you," smiled Valenthia.

"What!!? Why didn't you ever tell me?" asked Thorin.

"I knew that idiot would do this," said Edwina. "How are you?"

"You know how I am," said Valenthia. "I know you get all the information from this idiot," said Valenthia pointing at Thorin.

"Yes, I do and congratulations, dearest."

"I don't want your congratulations. I want to know where you are and when are you coming back," snapped Valenthia.

"Valen! Please don't ask me that. Neither I can tell you where I am or when I will be back. I am happy here, I won't ever come back," said Edwina.

"But you have to. Who will be my maid of honour?" said Valenthia in a sad tone.

"You don't need me, Valen. You will be fine."

"No, I won't be fine. I want you," snapped Valenthia.

"Don't be stubborn."

"Look who is talking. You are stubborn. It's been five years. What happened, Ed, tell me. I will make it alright, but you have to come back," scolded Valenthia.

"Valen, you don't understand!" said Edwina.

"I understand. You don't want to come because of Aaron. I will go and kick his ass today itself. Whatever he did you he will pay," chided Valenthia.

"It is not about that," Edwina tried to calm her down.

"Good! Because he is not the only one who wants to talk to you. What about your parents? What about your friends?"

"Friends who used to bully me? Call me names?" asked Edwina.

"They are not your friends, I am. Won't you be here at my wedding? I want you here, please," pleaded Valenthia.

"Valen! You know why I can't be at your wedding," said Edwina.

"But Aaron is not getting married on the day I am getting married. He would get married days after that," said Valenthia.

"But the engagement is on the same day," said Edwina.

"You are coming here for me, not him. Please come," said Valenthia.

"Valen!"

"Fine! If you are not coming, there will be a wedding. I am not getting married and that's final," snapped Valenthia.

"VALEN!!!" shouted Edwina. "Don't talk rubbish."

"Just say if you are coming or not. If not, no one is getting married. Bardolph can wait for me all his life," warned Valenthia.

"That is absurd, Valen. You cannot do that. Think about Bardolph and your parents and his parents," Edwina tried to explain.

"If you won't come no one is getting married and that's it," Valenthia immediately dropped the call.

"Valen! Valen!" Edwina kept shouting but no one answered. "Ahh… this girl!"

"What did you do?" asked Thorin.

"She will call," Valenthia smiled and placed the phone next to her on the bed. "One, two, three," and true to her words phone started ringing. But she didn't pick it up.

"Pick up!" said Thorin.

"No! no one's picking up," threatened Valenthia.

"What do you mean?" asked Thorin.

"Let her think I am angry and hurt. She will keep calling and when she picks up I will be crying," laughed Valenthia.

"But you are laughing," noted Thorin.

"Wait," said Valenthia and contorted her face. She made some weird crying noises and a drop of tear dropped from her eyes.

"WOAH! You are good!" said Thorin and picked up the phone.

"What are you doing?" snapped Valenthia. "Give me the phone."

"Just trust me," he winked at her and picked up the call. "Sis! What did you do? Valen is crying."

"Give her the damn phone!" snapped Edwina. "Why were you not picking up?" scolded Edwina the moment Valenthia grabbed the phone.

Valenthia said nothing just sobbed over the phone.

"Oh, stop it! I know you very well. Stop with your crocodile tears," chided Edwina.

"How can you say I am not crying? Come and see," said Valenthia, crying.

"Fine! Fine! Stop it! I am coming. I am coming to your wedding, happy?" barked Edwina.

"YAY!!!" Valenthia jumped on the bed and started bouncing on it with happiness.

"What? What? Is she coming?" asked Thorin.

"YES!!!" Valenthia shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Yay!" Thorin too jumped on the bed and started bouncing with Valenthia.

"What the hell you two are doing?" snapped Opaline and barged into the room. "Why are you making so much noise early in the morning?"

"She is coming! She is coming!" shouted Valenthia and jumped off the bed. She ran to Opaline and twirled her with happiness.

"Who is coming? What is she talking about?" asked Opaline.

"Ed! Ed is coming. She is finally coming back, Mom," Thorin jumped from the bed, ran to his mother and lifted her in his arms.

"Put me down! Put me down!" shouted Opaline and slapped Thorin on his shoulder. Thorin placed her foot on the floor. "Is that right? She is coming back? My kiddo is coming back? We will have a grand party. My sweetie is coming back," she shouted and ran from the room. "Nolan! Alpha Nolan! Your daughter is coming back."

"What am I? Am I not their son? Did they pick me up out of a garbage can?" said Thorin.

"Oh you don't know?" asked Valenthia.

"What? What?"
