Emperor Azezal Laroch was not just like any other being. He belonged to Liches. He was an undead creature. Lenora saw the giant skeleton of seven feet walking in her direction, adorning the most valuable and elegant clothes. Lenora was trembling in fear. Her heart was beating so loudly, she wondered if others could hear it too? This was dangerous.
If anyone found out that she has a beating heart then she would be dead for good. She gulped a huge mouthful of saliva and waited for her fate to swallow her.
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath to calm herself down. But her heart was racing and her breathing was perfectly leveled. But… the undead creature, the lich, was standing in front of her.
"You look beautiful, My Lady," the lich said.
Lenora wanted to check the memories of Emperor Lich. But she wondered if she could see his memories or not. She doubted it. After all, he was a lich. Nevertheless, she decided to do it. Because he was the key to everything. Lenora felt that he was somehow connected to that incident.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," she replied with a curt nod.
"Since you will be a princess soon, would you like to escort me to my chair, My Lady?" he asked, an eyebrow arched perfectly in question.
She stiffened.
Lenora didn't know what type of mind game he was playing, but she knew she couldn't let her guard down. With a forced smile, she nodded her head and bowed slightly.
Azazel Laroch offered his hand, and she took it. She was shocked at the touch of his hand. His skeleton fingers felt too stiff, so cold. She wanted to take back her hand but for some reason, she couldn't move her hand. She frowned slightly before glancing up and smiling widely at him.
Taking a deep breath, she calmed. Wrapping her fingers around his fingers, she walked ahead.
Lenora tried to see his memories from the past two years, as she tried she could feel her body was weakening but she couldn't let go of his hand or she could fall. Gritting her teeth, she tried to hold her strength and go ahead.
As she reached the stairs along with him, her vision blurred. She didn't want that to happen. She took slow and steady steps to make herself feel better and doesn't embarrass herself in front of everyone. And her heartbeat, it wasn't in her control. It was thudding rapidly, making her feel scared even more. And along with all these, she won't have another opportunity to touch Emperor Azazel Laroch. Again filling her lungs, she tried to see his memories using much more strength.
Celine could see that Lenora was running out of her strength. She was doing something that was a fatal and impossible thing. If she uses her power, she will get caught and Lenora would be an orphan. She didn't deserve that. Celine hoped that Lenora could get through this obstacle.
Suddenly, a shot of blinding hot pain surged through Lenora's head.
She wanted to scream, she wanted to jump away and do many things but she couldn't. Holding her smile was becoming harder for her.
Lenora forgot that the person she was trying to fetch memories from was Liches. There were only two ways to find permission for Liches. One was that he would have to allow her to see their memories. The other way was… looking at the memories without their knowledge would eat up their soul energy.
