Prologue

I still remember the day they came for us. I was five years old at the time and it was pitch black outside ad even the insects dared not disturb the silence of the eerie night. My mother and father had gone to bed maybe an hour ago, while me and my twin brother, Jasper, were supposed to go to bed about three hours ago. But while my brother had fallen asleep almost as soon as we had laid down, but I had been unable to sleep. All day I had an uneasy feeling especially after seeing the man in the black suit with black sunglasses on. And even with the sunglasses I could tell he was staring at me , but when I had told my mother about it and we both turned to look at the man, he was gone.

Unable to sleep, I got up out of bed and started to walk towards my parents room. And as I walked down the hallway towards my parents room, I notice their door slightly ajar. I know this may not be strange for other people, but my parents often argue before they go to sleep and they close their door in order not to wake me and Jasper. So, as I see this I start walking slower and try to be quiet. As I get to the door, I peer through it, and what I see is something that will always haunt my mind.

I see my mother's lifeless, dull turquoise eyes staring towards me with tears trailing down her pale cheeks and I see blood platters all over her face. But as my eyes trail downward I see a huge gash travelling all the way across her neck with fresh blood still trailing down her neck into her light blonde hair and onto the wooden floor. But I force myself to look away in order to look for my father, and as I look towards the bed I see my father on the other side of the bed. Not only do I see my father, but I also see the man in the black suit from earlier today. The man stands behind my father with a knife in one hand, holding it to my father's neck, and the other hand was covering my father's mouth, muffling his screams. My father, with his bright green eyes, find my own eyes just as the man slides the knife across my father's neck. And I watch as his blood starts spilling down his neck and splatters onto his tanned face and into his dark blonde hair. The last thing I see in my father's eyes is regret, anger, and sadness. The man lets go of my father's lifeless body, and as I see all of this I stagger back. As I stagger back I also release a tiny gasp, but as I do I slap my hand over my mouth, knowing that if the man hears me he will likely kill me as well. Turning around, I quietly rush back to my room, my dark blonde hair flowing behind me and my turquoise eyes filled with panic and fear, but as I get to my room I see another man in a black suit holding my little brother by his dark blonde hair and a needle stuck in my brother's neck. I stagger back while yelling, "Jasper!". All I want to see is my brother's turquoise eyes, to know he is ok, but his eyes are closed.

"Let go of him!" I yell and rush towards them, knowing that I can do nothing else. I know that I can't leave Jasper alone with these men and if I leave I don't know how I will survive when I'm only five years old.

"Hahaha, this one has spirit!" The man in front of me says while laughing, and I notice he doesn't look at me but behind me. I think about looking behind me, but I can't look back now, I have to help my brother.

"Don't worry it won't last long where she's going." A soft female voice says from behind me. The voice shocks me so much, with its soft tone, that I stop right where I am, which is only a foot away from the man and my brother. When I turn around what I see shocks me even more than the voice did. What I see is a woman, about 20 years old, with light blue hair and the brightest purple eyes ever. I've never seen anyone with purple eyes before and that surprises me. But her smile is what surprises and scares me most. Her smile which emits a sinister aura, that suggests the pain and suffering to come, not only makes her happy, but also excites her. Her smile is the last thing I see before I see a flash of black in the corner of my eye and feel a sharp prick in my neck, then complete darkness follows.
