The next morning, Aurus prepared breakfast for Laia just like the past few days and he then sent her off to school. He learned from Laia's mouth that she would stop at a friend's house for a moment and that she would only arrive at 5:30.
He then went to the shop and started to prepare for the day. He had collected a lot of resources from the adventurers guild the previous day and now it was time to store them.
He had different resources such as the fear clover which was a monster cultivation resource of the illusion element. This resource would give the fear status mental effect to anyone looking at the illusion. Of course, if the opponent was stronger than the user then the effect would be weakened.
He had also bought some eye of the shadow wolf which cost 10 silver coins in the adventurers guild. This resource cost 150 crystals. According to the system, the eye of the shadow wolf allowed the one using this resource to feel the shadow in a certain radius. This way, the shadow element beast would be able to spy on certain beasts through feeling their shadow move and at the same time evade stronger monsters. Unfortunately, there was a limit on the radius maximum of this skill which was a kilometre after you ate ten eyes of the shadow wolf.
The frost felonwood was a piece of wood of the ice element which increased the coldness of the ice itself. The poison system was a new resource which was the putrid bamboo which would make it difficult for the enemy to breathe after being infected. Differently from the poison of the poisonous toad which strengthened the attacks, this resource strengthened the poison in the body and from the moment the enemy touched any liquid of his body, he would be infected.
Excluding the resources just named, collected by Aurus were also new resources. Three resources of nature, lightning, light and air element, two resources of the ice, shadow, illusion, metal and water element. Finally, one of the poison elements.
Together, he now possessed three resources of each element. While this was still an incredibly low amount compared to the hundreds of display cases on each of the elements, it was still a pretty good beginning.
While he was storing the different resources with his system, he was combing the feathers of Zaya. She had never left him. Even when he was sleeping, she had been perched on the top of the bed and had been waiting for him to wake up.
As he finished sorting out the new resources and storing them in their display cases, he turned all of his attention to the combing of Zaya's feathers.
Soon, it was nine and he unlocked the doors. Going back to his seat, Zaya perched herself behind Aurus and simply stayed there. She was very intelligent so she knew that she should not bother her kind master until he called her.
At this time, while waiting for a customer, Aurus started to train in mana manipulation. It was honestly easy to train this skill as he mainly needed to attract the mana towards him or to make them move to his will. Indeed, he had been surprised when he found similar energy to mana in this world, most likely the energy used in cultivation. With the mana manipulation skill, he could also control this strange energy in the atmosphere.
Training and training, he soon levelled it up to E rank and he continued working. To use this skill, one needed to use mental power and he seemed to have a pretty big amount as he wasn't even starting to feel tired even after half an hour.
He continued this way for a few hours at which point he started to become exhausted. As such, he stopped and looked at the shop. It was normal that there were no customers in the shop since it was a new shop, but he didn't understand why there were so many people just loitering around the shop.
Getting up and going closer to the window, he noticed over thirty persons who were just waiting and looking intently at his shop.
Feeling grossed by them as they were looking at the shop as if looking at meat. He turned around and wondered out loud: "What's wrong with those guys?"
Going back to his seat, he petted Zaya as he waited for a customer and finally at four in the evening, a customer entered the store. Looking up, Aurus recognized the first customer he had received. It was the customer who had helped him complete a task.
The young man approached him.
"Hi boss, just like I said I brought back my teammates. Did you get resources from the other elements since yesterday?"
Looking at his customers' teammates, he noticed the interested and excited expression. It seemed that he had already shown the effect of his resources and they were very interested in buying resources from him.
"Hi and yeah, I collected three types of resources for each element. There is a description of the effect of the resource under each of them. You guys take a look and tell me when you are ready to buy them."
While he was talking with the customer he still didn't know the name of, a few of his teammates had been looking closely at Zaya. Indeed, she was extremely elegant and would easily draw attention to herself.
One of the few men behind the customer asked: "Boss, what is the beast behind you? I've never seen such a beast in my entire life."
"Oh, that's a phoenix, it's pretty rare and if it were not for luck, I wouldn't have had the chance to make her my contracted beast."
The man nodded as he listened to his explanation but couldn't help but stare at Zaya until one of his friends elbowed him on the side and he stopped fixing her so intensely but the few of them still gave quick glances to Zaya from time to time.
After a while, they all started to look at the monster cultivation resources that were being sold. They were a team of 10 including his first customer and they all separated into five groups each heading to a different element. In a few seconds, two customers were in front of the poison, shadow, illusion, fire and air element resources.
As they were busy by themselves looking at what they would be buying, Aurus noticed that the people outside of the shop seemed to be getting restless. Looking at the time which showed 4h30, a grin slowly crept up his face. He obviously knew that those people were most likely the men of the nobles.
Considering their movement just now, he didn't doubt that they would soon all come to the shop. Unfortunately for them it was almost closure time and it didn't matter if they were civilians or nobles, they would have to leave at five. There were only two choices for them, whether to leave peacefully or forcefully. He really couldn't wait to see what would happen.
Turning around and ignoring those men who were just loitering about, he looked at the ten customers who were still browsing the few articles.
Aurus looked at them puzzled. He didn't understand why they would spend so much time looking at the description of three monster cultivation resources over and over again.
Finally, five minutes later, one of them came to the counter and asked for certain resources. Whenever the customer came to the counter, he would go up and follow the customer to the resource he wanted. At this point, he would receive the crystals while handing over the resources the customer had asked.
Looking at the hundreds of crystals for only a single customer, Aurus started to get excited. The crystals have the form of a rhombus. It was a parallelogram with four equal sides. The crystal was completely white and it was the size of a pinky.
While he received the crystals and gave the resources to the first customer, the others soon joined as they had seen the time and they didn't want to stay after open hours. Aurus nodded thinking that they would be done before five. As they came one by one the first customer who bought resources came back to Aurus and asked for new resources of the air system.
Puzzled, Aurus followed him and sold him resources after reminding him that he could only use those resources in the shop and couldn't bring them outside. As if to answer his worry, a new contracted beast appeared out of nowhere and Aurus immediately understood. It seemed that he was a cultivator of at least the iron rank. After all, to be able to contract a second beast, the cultivator had to have increased his rank to iron.
Looking at this group of Hunter, he was surprised when he thought that maybe each one of them was iron ranked cultivators. This would mean that they would all be buying even more which would give him a lot of points. Aurus continued to sell his resources to this group as the time went by little.
By the time they were finished in buying the resources, all of their contracted beasts had increased in strength. It was easily distinguishable and he didn't doubt that they at least increased their strength by half which was a pretty big increase.
As he sent them to the door, he noticed that the people who had been waiting around since morning seemed to be ready to move as their eyes didn't leave the ten-man squad.
Seeing them, they didn't care at all and left on their way. A hundred meters away, they were stopped by the thirty of them who asked what were the resources sold and whether they were really effective.
When the peoples who had been stalking the shop revealed themselves to be the personnel of the four noble houses in the city, the group of ten took some time to explain the situation inside the shop.
At the same time as the group was being asked questions, Aurus saw that the time was now five. He went to the door and locked it. Anyway, Laia only arrived half an hour later and he didn't want to have any more customers until then.
He left the door and went to the second floor to prepare food for the evening. Around twenty minutes later, a group of people were pushing each other like a group of barbarian to first arrive at the shop. However, when they arrived, they saw the notice that the store was closed and would only open the next morning at nine.
With their faces ugly from being stopped by a single door, some of them proposed to destroy the door when a small voice came from behind them.
"Excuse me, would you let me pass?" As the voice sounded, five small girls with their school bag came at the door and the crowd reflexively moved back after being surprised by them. As the five girls arrived at the door under the weird eyes of the man, they knocked on the door.
At that time, amongst the group, they started to laugh and gloat a little over the girl's stupidity. After seeing the sign saying closed they still knocked at the door hoping for the door to open. Selectively forgetting that they were in the same boat.
However, this was all in their heads as a moment later, Laia pushed the door open and along with her four girlfriends entered the shop before closing the door behind them.
Surprised none of them moved and by the time they reacted, the door was already closed.
Angry since the girls could enter and not them, they knocked on the door just like the girls, hoping the door would unlock but not this time as there were no new reactions and the group of middle-aged man were left standing on the porch of a house with a breeze blowing across the empty street.
Do you enjoy it when I describe the different resources and when the monsters take the resources? If yes, I will add some scenes of the contracted beasts tasking the resources in the shop. I personally enjoy writing those scenes. Once again just like last chapters, there are a few days left for the web novel contest I'd greatly appreciate your support in power stones if you don't mind :) I hope you liked this chapter! Have a great day!
