MMORPG Regressor: The Villain Griefs Pros To Take The Championship

Faced with a second chance at life, Bjorn set a goal for himself, and for his country. Iceland, a place that'd never been on the competitive map, would win on the world's greatest stage. There was only a slight problem. He had ten years of experience and knowledge of the future... only in PvP. His previous life's account had been leveled by gaming assistants while he put all his time into practicing for tournaments. He had no management skills, no knowledge of the game, and no one to back him up. He didn't even know what quests were good or where to find the best items. All he knew was how to kill other players. 'If I want a successful team, the first matter is having them decked out in the finest gear... but how? I've never actually gathered my own stuff before...' Bjorn paused as he thought of something. 'Wait, players drop items, right? They even lose levels when I kill them! Heheh..." ... A few months later. A confused announcer frowned as he looked over the matchup. France VS Iceland. "The average level of France's team... is only 40?! Isn't the average 60? They don't stand a chance! Did they bring in practice accounts or something?" In the booth, the head coach wanted to cry. 'Obviously not! That psychotic bastard hunted every last person we had!'

Intercepted By The Guard

After passing all of the money he'd just made over to Rogn, the duo headed for the city's town hall. It was best to establish their guild as soon as possible if they wanted to lay claim to their desired plot of land.

When applying, they could set a certain area as their home base, and could even purchase more land inside the city for a guild hall.

With only a single silver and some measly bronze coins to his name, Bjorn had no plans of doing the former.

"Rogn, I'll let you handle all of the financial stuff, and feel free to bring on anyone else to the team that we might need. Also, I know a few players that I want to invite."

The manager nodded as they continued walking toward the center of the small city.

"So, what exactly is it that you want to do with this guild? I can see that you are pretty good at PvP, but I don't know how well that'll carry over to making a guild successful…"

Bjorn nodded his head.

"You know how most European teams have been struggling in other Esports recently?"

Rogn tilted his head at the sudden change of topics.

"And many of those teams don't even have Icelandic players on them."

Bjorn looked into Rogn's eyes, a determined flame dancing within his pupils.

"We're going to make a team, an all-Icelandic one. I'm confident that this game will have a huge Esports scene in the future, and we're going to rule it."

All of the hesitation disappeared from Rogn's eyes.

"Hell yeah! It's been too long since we got any recognition!"

Bjorn bumped fists with his manager just as they reached the town hall.

"Tonight after we get out of the game, I'll text you a contact to recruit. It's a guy who probably hasn't checked out the game yet, but he'll be really good in the future. I want him on the team."

Bjorn rubbed his forehead as he spoke, remembering spending hours with a headache gained from listening to a certain idiot talk endlessly.

'Aside from me, though, he was the best Iceland had to offer in my previous life. I'll still need two other players, though… and coaches. The guild should be able to cover the rest of the positions, and I might even be able to recruit the other members out of it, so it solves a few problems.'

The duo entered the town hall and headed for the front counter. After mentioning to the receptionist that they wanted to create a guild, she held out her hand.

"Please fill out the form presented to you and submit a silver coin as the initial deposit."

'A whole silver coin… as a deposit?!'

A translucent screen appeared in front of Bjorn, filled with all kinds of complex legal terminology.

'How the hell am I even supposed to understand any of this?! Hell, Rogn doesn't even have a law degree, can he understand anything on here?'

When he glanced over at his companion, he saw him swiftly filling out information.

'What the hell??'

When Bjorn tapped him on the shoulder to ask for help, Rogn shot him an odd look.

"You can't figure it out? It's just asking you for a guild name and a few other details… Look, it needs two people to sign it, so please just put in your info."

When Bjorn looked back down at his own document, he could identify at least three different languages in certain areas.

'I didn't even know the game came with every language pack downloaded… Wait, is that Latin?! How the hell am I supposed to be able to understand a dead language?!'

Just as he was about to slam his fists into the translucent screen, a thought entered his mind.

'Oi. System, are you messing with me?'

-

What do you mean, Eric the Red?

-

Bjorn jabbed his finger at the document before him.

'Really? Just look at it! Does this look like the type of thing an average player would be able to understand?'

There was no answer, but after a few moments, the text on the page started to morph, becoming an easy-to-fill-out sheet with only a few fields of entry.

'What a shitty system. I'll have to send an email to the developers that this thing isn't working correctly.'

After filling out his portions of the paperwork, Bjorn decided to leave the rest to Rogn and headed for the exit.

What was the point of hiring a manager if he wasn't going to put him to work?

'Cough- not that I've even paid him yet. Now that I think about it, he agreed without me even telling him about wages… do I still have to pay him anything?'

-

Ding!~

That would be illegal, and I would be lucky to have the opportunity to report you to the labor police.

-

Bjorn stopped walking for a moment, his eye twitching in annoyance.

'This little-! Was this stupid system always like this??'

Doing his best to ignore the annoying system, Bjorn quickly traveled back to the city's exit. A few people eyed him with opportunistic gazes, but he just ignored them.

'I need to focus on leveling for a bit, I'm probably starting to fall behind the people who are grinding mobs. I should also try hunting for better sets for people who are joining the guild soon.'

Even if selling items was the biggest source of income for Bjorn at the moment, it might be better to save most of it.

It was better to outfit his squad in top-quality threads than to convert it all into money and lose some value.

Just as Bjorn was about to step out of the safe zone, a hand grabbed onto his arm. It was the same guard he'd seen a number of times in the past.

"Eric the Red, come with me for a moment. You aren't in trouble."

Bjorn could've pulled away, but seeing how the guard repeatedly glanced in the direction of his coworkers nervously, he realized something unofficial might be happening.

After pulling Bjorn to an isolated spot with few people, the guard finally opened his mouth.

I've completely rewritten the first chapter, hence the release of only 1 new one today.

Changes: Improved fighting scene, more engaging overall, and changed manner of death. Opponent changed from a South American team to a North American one. Now, instead of his parents dying, Bjorn is handed a poisoned energy bar by an assistant after winning the match.
