To The Mistwoods

Somehow a year passed, and eventually, everyone moves on, but me? No! My wounds were still bleeding as new… still hurting as new.

Watching how fast I was slipping away from life, my mom decided to send me to my aunt, the place where I was actually born, to Mistwoods!

"Mistwoods was a small town, with lots of natural attractions and people with big hearts, at least that's what I used to know as a child when I used to live there with my family and aunt.

Mom thought it would be good for me to get close to nature again, and I thought maybe… maybe I needed to run away from my home, from the place where my father's memories haunt me, where my brother lives, the brother who was close to me once, more than anyone else, a brother who hates me now.

"Hey!!" I heard a voice of a girl as I tried to open my eyes but I failed.

"I can not keep standing here forever you know?" I heard it again, I forced my eyes open and with a blurry vision, I saw a girl standing in front of me.

I shook my head and my vision got clear enough to see a girl with two black ponytails with red streaks standing in front of me, she was wearing a black crop jacket on a red short skirt and long black boots, and there was a tattoo of a raven on her neck peeking from behind her headphone hanging around her neck.

Where did she come from? I did not see her getting on the plane in the first place.

"Sorry!" I apologized and slid my legs to the left to give her space so she can sit beside me.

Right after I regretted my decision when I heard her chewing her bubble gum with a lot of noise, it irked me, to be honest, but I kept it together even though I am not good at it since…. well since I lost my dad.

I am not the same person I was before, but still, I controlled my anger until she opened her mouth.

"Mistwoods Student!" She cackled with sarcasm.

"How do you know?" I turned my face toward her.

"Who selected you?" She stared at me as if I am some kind of a freak.

"Excuse me? I applied and I… got selected." I arched an eyebrow staring at her.

"You shouldn't have come here" She started chewing louder again, if her questions would not drive me mad her chewing would.

"Is that a threat?" I asked.

She grinned, wearing the headphones, and started listening to God knows what!

Somehow we made it to the destination, my aunt Lisa was waiting for me at the airport, she greeted me and then hugged me.

All the way to our home I can only assume what she talked about, I just kept staring out of the window, I did not do it on purpose I always stay unfocused now, lost in thoughts, and not mentally present.

When we reached she offered me food, to which I said "No".

She could see how tired I was, and she showed me the way to my room and left me to unpack or change or do whatever I want to.

I dropped onto the bed and stared at the ceiling, tiny moons and magnetic starlight sticking to the ceiling, they were there since when I was little.

Aunt Lisa made me put some of them there I remember.

The slightest smile appeared on my face, and within a few seconds, I drifted off.

In the morning I woke up, panicking, I did not unpack since I arrived and I needed to go to school, I took out any outfit I could pull out conveniently and took a shower, and rushed out.

"At least eat something honey!" Aunt called out to me but I apologized I was getting late.

The school was not so far away from there, so it took me a few minutes to reach, when I reached I saw a crowd in front of the school, on getting closer I realized that it was a group of students, standing around a guy, tall beautiful, he had this golden wavy hair, golden eyes and a chiseled face was making him stand out of the crowd.

Turns out he was a prefect and was there to guide students, "Hi I am Dominque, I am going to take you all on a tour, but before anything else, just let me distribute these, Here! Your timetables, your locker numbers, and keys" He started to distribute papers and keys to everyone until he reached me.

He smiled at me which sent a chill straight down my spine, I felt nervous I began to look here and there, after a while I felt relief when I saw a familiar face, a girl with burgundy bangs, she is a little taller than me but hey! Who cares? She is my childhood best friend Crystal.

When we moved away from the Mistwoods she used to live in my neighborhood, that's when we became friends but after a fight between her parents before their divorce, she left the town to live with her grandmother, even though we were now living so far away from each other we stayed friends through internet and calls.

"It is so good to see you!" I embraced her tightly, while I could still feel Dominique's eyes stuck on me.

When we were done greeting each other another guy came from behind the crowd and grab both Cris and Dominque with their arms and yelled "Hi everyone! I am Shawn! Dom's best friend and your second prefect" He combed his dark brown hair back with his fingers.

Cris somehow escaped his grip meanwhile Dominique laughed "Okay, okay first of all! He is not a prefect, second! Do you remember when I said that there are so many things to love in this school? I forgot to mention the things you will fall in hate with and that is Shawn's humor." Dominique raised an eyebrow making everyone else laugh.

"Harsh! But I will forgive you!" Shawn placed his hands on his waist and bounced his head.

"How might you be?" He rubbed his jaws with his fingers and stared at me.

Before I could open my mouth another muscular and tall guy with red long hair came from behind the crowd with three other guys "Look who is here! Self presumed Mr. Bean!" He laughed at Shawn.

"Guys this is the captain of our football team! Fredricks!" Dominique introduced him.

"You can call me Freddy!" He bowed down a little while placing his hand on his chest.

"Who might you be?" He raised an eyebrow as he approached me.

Listening to that phrase for the second time irked me, I mean there were many students, why greet me only? Right?

"Is this some kind of a greeting around here? Who might you be to all of you too!" I waved my hand to everyone when I felt two hands holding tight on my shoulders and turning me around.

"Excuse me!" It was Cris she pulled my hand and stared me in the eyes "What are you doing? He is a captain!" She gritted her teeth.

"It is okay! She is just being friendly, is not she?" Fredricks looked at me and I nodded like an obedient child.

It was just a day for a tour so there were no studies that day, so when we were done roaming Dominique stood before me, I am pretty sure he wanted to say something but before he could Fredricks came slipping and stood between us.

"Are you free this evening? I was thinking about showing you around" He shrugged.

Fredricks was really handsome and charming but to be honest he was not my type so I frowned at him and asked: "Are you seriously asking me out just the day we met?"

"No! Of course not!" He tried to answer me confidently but I can bet anything he felt awkward because he knew what my answer was so he explained himself "I got to know that you just arrived here so I thought what if I show you around?" He grinned scratching the back of his neck.

"I would love to but I am really sorry I had no time to unpack…" I was still saying when he interrupted me.

"Hey! It is alright! I was just trying to be a friend!" He raised both his hand and left.

"Okay then, see you tomorrow?" Dominique smiled nervously.

"Yeah!" I nodded and left.

In the afternoon I was unpacking my things I heard a knock on my door, I opened the door and saw my aunt standing in front of me.

"There's some young man asking for you!" She said.

"What young man?" I asked myself as I climbed down the stairs.

I can clearly recognize those red long hairs anywhere, even though I was watching him from behind as he was sitting on the chair I knew he was Fredricks.

I approached him and stood in front of him to confirm and my eyes widened "You! What are you doing here?" To tell you the truth it was alarming, I just moved and some guy showed up at my doorstep, I mean on my chair! Doesn't it sound creepy?

He smiled at me "Good evening to you too!" He stood up and even though he was being polite his smile was still creeping me out.

"How did you find me?" I stared at him from head to toe, and with my eyes half closed I walked from left to right as if I were a detective.

"Cris…" He had just spoken her name when he gasped and his eyes widened "Oh please do not fight her I just wanted to clear the air between us!" he pulled forward his collars and combed back his hair.

"Look I do not know what your friend told you about me but I am not a bad guy, I just wanted to show you around and was never going to force you besides your friends were going to be there too!" He lowered his eyes and sighed "But it is okay, just never think that I am a mean guy or anything like that" He walked toward the door.
