Mistakes Made

I rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready.

I was so glad that I'm moving today I was going to live with my new-found grandmother in another country.

My so-called mother abused me all my life, beating me while drunk and making my life more stressful.

My name is Leah Candice, a 15-year-old who's seen far too much, mostly because I got in the wrong crowd of people who I thought I could trust to be my friends. Next thing I knew, I was carried off to a party and woke up with two tattoos and a few more piercings.

I don't have any friends nor do I have a dad. I feel so useless and bothered earlier at times like why did I have to be a part of a broken home, why did I have a mother who now cares zero and for me to not have sufficient education in not dunce but I'm not the brightest at this age.

Earlier This month my grandma called me asking if I would like to live with her and without thinking I took the offer I didn't care how she got the number to the little phone I have or how she knew me I just hop on taking the offer.

I have never met her a day in my life but I just pray she better and has a more stable home I know it sounds stupid but chances are made to be taken and what if this was my chance, my chance to better myself my chance to finally feel what family love is, my chance to make my mother a better person it might be good or not good.

Living in Atlanta is pretty rough since mom doesn't work I have to pay the bills and struggle to find food I work at a corner store I only get $20 dollar every hour due to me being underage and can't do a lot and it's not a big store, but I have a feeling my life is gonna be better, so I packed the little that I have with hopes of having more and better days I'm a little excited, I grabbed my bags which contained very few items because I didn't own much stuff and headed downstairs.

My mother was knocked out on the couch surrounded by beer bottle, Cigarette boxes, and white dust that was on the floor and her face, A tear fell from my eye and I quickly wiped it and cleaned up the surrounding mess, I made her a sandwich with the last two slices of bread and some jam leaving it with some water by the couch.

I made sure everything was under control as I made my way to the door the floorboard squeaked and I looked down at it the boards were slowly rotting I could see outside through it but it didn't make me feel anyway, after all, it was my home and it was better than this, but this is now our budget I just had to live with it.

I made my way to the door glancing at my mother one more she looked tired and weak her nice thick figure was now changing her naturally long hair was undone and had been that way for the last three months her beauty was fading away but I still loved her even after all she did, my grandmother had already booked my flight, so I'm just going head to the airport.

At this point I was a bit iffy but I still had to think about the better days ahead and maybe I could persuade my grandmother into helping my mother she said that she was going to let Mr. John Drop me off at the airport and handle my flight procedures, so I was standing outside waiting for John to pop up.

John was the best example of a grandfather and father figure he was caring and kind and always looked at things differently John has done a lot for me and it's highly unbelievable.

John was an elder man with a great height, short black hair that was always in a low cut he dressed similarly every day he wears button-down shirts and dress pants he was light skin and had freckles on one side of his face.

Mr. John pulled up in his blue jeep and I carried my two bags to the car while he greeted me he was about to drive off when I stopped him and got out of the jeep I walked up the three little steps that led to the little apartment we lived in.

I looked at the old door as I opened it heading inside I walked back into the little living room area and left my mother with half my savings that I had been saving I just placed it in her hands and closed it kissing her forehead as I headed out one last time taking the necklace with the lion on it from around her neck and putting it on mines.

No matter how much we got broke or hungry or how bad she needed a fix she never sold or even remove that necklace from around her neck she said it means more than I will ever know or find out at first I thought it was because we were Lyon's but it obviously held some sentimental value and I think I should keep it for her just in case they try to rob her or break into re-house until she gets well I will keep it for her.

Leaving her was slowly breaking my heart but maybe this was our chance and hope I also struggled to pay the rent for the next two months with half of the other half of my savings I only had two hundred dollars left and I had to keep it just in case things didn't go well in Atlanta with my grandmother.

I got in the car, and he drove off glancing at me as I looked at the trees that we were passing by I was now leaving Canada for a better today and a better tomorrow I hope it goes well even though nothing goes well for me.
