81. Hero II

Kimimaro still tried to act stoic but Itsuki easily noticed the faint upward curve on his lips. Itsuki just grinned and ruffled Kimimaro's hair causing everyone to smile at the situation.

All of them wanted Kimimaro to loosen up a little, but they didn't force it and waited for him to come out of his shell. 

But Itsuki just felt that Kimimaro was just trying to act cool...

The Kazekage of Sunagakure was in a very bad mood, and the reason was just a single person.... The Hero of the Sand, Pakura.

Raasa was a person who attached too much value to the Kazekage position. Rasa believed he was the only one who could save Sunagakure from its turmoil. Only he can lead Sunagakure to glory.

He was annoyed that there were still idiots in the council who reprimanded his rule, he would have had them assassinated if it weren't for the fact that he feared his own supporters would turn against him.

So Rasa was in a pickle, the thing that infuriated him more was that there were voices of opposition among the council and some wanted to support Pakura, especially since the Daimyo of the Land of Wind seemed to show favour to Pakura and they believed if she became the Kage then surely their Daimyo would treat them better.

This scared Rasa, he was only able to become the Kage due to there not being anyone suitable to inherit the position and his ability to mine gold to help the village. The elders Chiyo and Ebisu supported him due to his ability to mine gold dust.

But now Rasa felt a subtle threat to his position, and just like a dog trying to defend its bone he was determined to eliminate any threat to his position.

He didn't want to let go of the prestigious position of Kazekage and become a gold digger. Pakura was getting more and more of an eyesore. 

Pakura was a threat to Sunagakure's peace because only he could lead Sunagakure to glory and anybody threatening his Kazekage position was threatening the peace of Sunagakure.

Hero or not, no one was allowed to threaten the peace of Sunagakure.

Recently he has been sending Pakura to do many important missions, missions so dangerous that she may lose her life, but as the hero of the village shouldn't she be ready to sacrifice her life for the betterment of her village?

Rasa thought with self-righteousness as he gazed at Pakura's file with a sinister gleam in her eyes....

Pakura had a grim expression on her face as she clashed blades with the enemy.

Suddenly her instincts warned her about danger, but she was still a little slow to react and ended up getting injured in her arms.

Pakura gazed at the new adversary who was gazing at her with killing intent and some disdain. Pakura was breathing a little hard which showed her current state, which was far from good. She used one arm to support her bleeding arm while she held the Kunai with the injured arm. While her body was trembling.

Around her were shrivelled-up corpses, which showed Pakura's signature method of eliminating her enemies. It was a ten-man team that ambushed her, of which 8 were sent to the afterlife by her.

She could see the contempt and excitement in their gazes, it was understandable considering her current condition. They might be excited about the prospect of claiming the head of S-class Kunoichi 'Shakuton no Pakura'. 

Pakura was standing up with apparent difficulty as she held her trembling arms as her body was riddled with small wounds. A fact that her assailants would be idiots if they ignored it, suddenly the two of them flashed a bloodthirsty smile as they rushed at her in unison. 

Both Shinobi swung their blades at Pakura with smiles on their faces, they seemed to witness their imminent victory but suddenly their smiles froze as they saw Pakura drop the Kunai from her seemingly injured hand.

And her fatigue and weakness were nowhere to be seen as she created two hot flaming mini suns in her hands and slammed them towards the two shinobi who had horrified expressions on their faces.

They realised at the end of their lives that they got bamboozled...

Pakura took a deep breath as she gazed at the corpses around her. This wasn't the first time she got ambushed and it has been a constant thing for the past few months.

Although she did not have any lethal injuries, her back had some wounds that were a bit serious but not too dangerous...
