What to Expect | Milo and Maisie's Themes

Milo and Maisie is a drama based on a real tragedy that happened to the author, meaning that even though it's set in Disney World, it contains darker themes and mentions of human tragedy. At Disney World, we value the Inclusion Key. Not everyone here has a happy past, and they come to Disney to start over.

As most of y'all know, I'm primarily a Dark Fantasy author who does not go easy on her characters. Milo and Maisie's no exception. The best way to describe this story is "bittersweet," but none of the darker themes are glorified. Therefore, it is unnecessary to mark this book as Mature.

With that said, here are only a few of the themes I've included in this story:

- Grief, loss

- War, human tragedy, and mentions of PTSD

- Mentions of a suicide attempt but not graphic at all

- Friendship and why it's so important when someone is grieving

- The journey to acceptance is difficult, but one day, it will happen. You'll never forget your loved one, but you can finally move on.

- Animals have emotions, too. They are not emotionless beings.

- Finally, not every love story has to be the same.
