Chapter one hundred and fifty-six
Anna filled Vanessa in on what had been going on with her and Xander without leaving any detail, from what happened at the tavern, to the kisses and the aftermath and Vanessa screamed in response.
"You've been doing really dirty things, Anna. But guess what? I'm happy that you're finally becoming a woman. Well, it's a gradual process, but welcome to the women's club!" She said boisterously.
"How was the kiss? Did it meet your expectations? Are his kisses as good or even better than he looks? You could as well tell me about his size since you've felt it. So, how big is he?" Vanessa asked simultaneously.
Anna replied by yawning.
"Geez, Anna! You're no fun at all. You can't be serious right now." Her mouth opened slightly in disbelief.
"We'll talk tomorrow, Nes. I have to prepare for work tomorrow. I'll be a little late tomorrow too." Anna said, walking to her room.
The events of the next day happened pretty fast, at least in Anna's head, and she was glad it did. She went grocery shopping after work and was surprised to see Mr Williams when she got out of the grocery store.
"Hop in," he said. She'd barely seen him all through the day, she noticed that he didn't appear fatigued, well unlike her who spent the whole day working, and shopping for groceries. She could bet that she was a mess. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses which made him look cool.
When he noticed that she was still standing there without moving an inch, he added, "I don't see any bus coming here any time soon." He removed his sunglasses before adding, "I also thought that you could save a few bucks, but since you're not interested..." He wore his pair of sunglasses back and zoomed off and watched as she flailed her arms and screamed for him to wait for her through the rearview mirror. She was holding two big bags in her hands and running to catch up with him.
When he saw that she'd stopped trying to catch him, and was catching her breath instead, he selected the reverse gear and moved back, stopping right in her front. Anna was still breathing heavily, and she noticed that his lips curved up in a wicked smile. She shot him a cold stare before entering his car. Her chest was still rising and falling even after he sped off.
"You're so mean, Mr Williams," Anna said, puffing her cheeks.
"Well, you have yourself to blame for being so stubborn." He flashed a toothy grin at her which made her heart skip a bit.
"How did you know that I was here? Did you follow me?"
"I'm telepathic," he said, winking at her and Anna shook her head in disbelief.
"I have tons of things to do at home, so I'll just do this quick, and leave."
He didn't reply to her, he just glanced and her and continued driving.
Immediately after they arrived at his house, Anna hit the kitchen without wasting time. He'd gone upstairs, while she'd found her way to his kitchen. There were maids there who offered to assist her in cooking. She'd told them not to both but they'd insisted on helping her. When Xander came into the kitchen, she'd been so engrossed with giving orders to the other maids and cooking that she didn't notice his presence, nor did she notice that the atmosphere became a little tense. He leaned against the dark wall, watching as she handled the shrimps, her expressions serious.
It wasn't until he spoke that she realised that he was there.
"I'm tempted to fire all my maids to hire you instead, Miss Houston." The aroma of the food filled the air and it caused his insides to churn.
It didn't take so much time for the food to get ready, but by then, Xander had left the kitchen to take a call. The maids helped in bringing the food down to the dining hall and in no time, the food was placed on the table, alongside some side dishes.
"Mr Williams?" Anna called, his back was turned to her. "You may have your long-awaited jambalaya now. Well, it should taste golden because I added extra efforts-"
"Go home, Anna." She heard Xander say, his back was still turned to her.
"Did you hear me, Mr Williams? I said-"
"I said, leave!" Xander snarled.
