Melting Her Cold Heart

Cheated on by her fiancé weeks before their wedding, Sara, vowed to never love again. Men could not be trusted, especially with a woman's heart. She had made the mistake once, and that was more than enough for her. Never again would she make the same mistake to give her heart to another. But her resolve began to waver when she came across her new boss, Alexander Legend, a man whose reputation in his expertise and ruthlessness in business preceded him. Respected and feared by many, but to Sara, he was an annoying pest she wished she never met. Too persisted for her liking yet, she finds herself falling, slowly melting in his presence. Getting used to his stolen kisses and hugs and sometimes anticipating them. °°°°° Excerpts “You will fall for me, Sara. One day, I'll have your heart too,” Alex drawled. His voice had a seductive allure that had her heart racing. The fact that his hand was leisurely resting around her waist didn't help her either. “Try as much as you want to,” despite her body begging for his touch, Sara was determined to reject him today and any other day. She couldn't make the same mistake again. “You won't succeed in your seduction. NOT NOW. NOT EVER.” Alex smirked, kissed behind her ear and her body trembled, much to his satisfaction. That was all he needed to keep purising the stubborn woman in his arms right now. “We shall see, Miss Ambrose,” he cooed and then released her. He returned to his seat and asked in a professional tone. “What is my schedule for today?”

Madam...Secretary

Malerie walked inside the office after making sure that Olivia was gone and out of sight. She walked to the front of Adam's desk with her hand crossed on her chest and anger visible on her face.

"I am…" Adam wanted to speak but was rudely interrupted by her.

"So that's how I am seen? A whore?" She uttered with anger dripping form her voice, a finger tapping on her arm.

This was the first time that Adam had seen her this angry, and he couldn't blame her. His sister was at fault, and as her brother, he had to take the blame.

"I am sorry for what Liv said to you," he rose to his feet and walked around the desk to stand before her. "I will make sure she is punished for it."

"You didn't anger my question, Adam. Do you see me as a whore?" She asked. She stepped away when he attempted toucbing her, and his hand froze midair.

"No. You are not a whore and I have never considered you to be one. What you and I share… it's nothing like that," Afam replied. He was panicked and afraid. Why? He didn't know. Just what was going on with him? "What can I do to make it up to you?" Even with numerous questions and uncertainties, he still wanted to make her feel better.

'Why?' Adam asked himself over and over again.

"You won't touch for a week," Malerie uttered and Adam's shoulders fell. "And I want t8 go shopping but with your card," she added and putting her palm in front of him asking fir tye card.

"Whatever makes you happy," he placed the card in front of her. "But we need to talk about the first condition. It's a bit too much."

Malerie gave him a looked and he nodded his head. "I'll think about it,' she said and rook the card before leaving the office.

Adam watched her leave with a tired sigh. Malerie needed to be thought a lessen.

Silence. Thick and heavy silence enveloped the boardroom. Everyone, including Sara, could feel cold aura of Alexander. She didn't even dare to look at him, but then again, she now understood why he said he needed to calm down before coming in here. What would have happened if he walked in here whole he was still angry tye precious issue with the employees?

Sara did not dare to think.

"President Legend…. This right here is… is the…" Mr Amon, the head of the sales department stammered, unable to make fill sentences.

The sales have dropped significantly withing just a few days and he didny have the answers for that yet. Until he was able to get to the root cause of it there was nothing that he could do.

"You really don't deserve to your…" he trailed off, his eyes casted down on the little hand that held his before slowly looking at the face of the woman who owned it.

Everyone wondered what could have made Hon stop and followed his gaze but there couldn't see what he was looking at. Only those seated beside them could see the hand placed on his own. It felt absurd at first but when they saw him raise his gaze and met hers and lacked tye anger they were expecting, it clicked.

Everyone saw him looked at the new secretary with surprise rather than anger. Even the scowl between his brows eased up.

"Perhaps I should handle it…President?" Sara said in a low voice l, almost a whisper. They maintained eye contact until Alex finally gave a small nod. He even intertwined their fingers, not intending to let go of her hand. Sara didn't mind because she thought he still needed the physical contact, and she wanted him to calm down.

"Mr Amon," she called the man after mouthing a thank you to Alex. "It was only three days ago that you were all called and were all asked to sort things out before this. So why have yours gone from bad to worse?"

Being faced with the eyes of everyone, Mr Amon couldn't help sweating buckets. She had just asked the same he asked but differently. "I just a little more time, Madam…secretary. I promise to get to the bottom of this," he said.

Sara felt Alex hold on her tighten, and she caressed the back of his palm with her thumb. Even she had to agree that it was ridiculously bold of the man to make such a request after his poor performance.

"Your management skills are terribly poor, and so is your sense of reasoning," Alex uttered, bit caring how his words would affect the man.

"Alex," Sara called in a whispered tone ans even squeezed his hand a little. He leaned to his side to show that he heard her. "What if he is involved in the missing sales income? Or what if someone else sets up? You won't unless you investigate ans if you fire before that happens, you would have wronged an innocent percent by them," Sara wished she could use her phone now so she would have to be so secretive and careful not raise her voice.

Alex knew that but there was always room for compensation and an opportunity that he could reinstated. So firing people was never an issue.

"Keep him around but keep an eye on him until the investigation is done. That way, no matter what your punishment would be, it will be given with a clear conscience," Sara added and he sighed inwardly.

"Alright," yeah, whatever she wants, she gets. "Everyine should submit their reports and leave, be back here ind three days. But if I have issues with your reports, you will ve called sooner and individually," he dismissed them.

"Yes, President," they all said in unison and rose to their feet, finding their way out after submitting their reports. They inwardly thanked the secretary for whatever she said t9 had the president dismiss them so quickly. He didn't even sack anyone.
