Melting Her Cold Heart

Cheated on by her fiancé weeks before their wedding, Sara, vowed to never love again. Men could not be trusted, especially with a woman's heart. She had made the mistake once, and that was more than enough for her. Never again would she make the same mistake to give her heart to another. But her resolve began to waver when she came across her new boss, Alexander Legend, a man whose reputation in his expertise and ruthlessness in business preceded him. Respected and feared by many, but to Sara, he was an annoying pest she wished she never met. Too persisted for her liking yet, she finds herself falling, slowly melting in his presence. Getting used to his stolen kisses and hugs and sometimes anticipating them. °°°°° Excerpts “You will fall for me, Sara. One day, I'll have your heart too,” Alex drawled. His voice had a seductive allure that had her heart racing. The fact that his hand was leisurely resting around her waist didn't help her either. “Try as much as you want to,” despite her body begging for his touch, Sara was determined to reject him today and any other day. She couldn't make the same mistake again. “You won't succeed in your seduction. NOT NOW. NOT EVER.” Alex smirked, kissed behind her ear and her body trembled, much to his satisfaction. That was all he needed to keep purising the stubborn woman in his arms right now. “We shall see, Miss Ambrose,” he cooed and then released her. He returned to his seat and asked in a professional tone. “What is my schedule for today?”

Birthday Surprise

"It's Adam's birthday today. You know that I can't leave him alone today," the delicate voice of a woman could be heard, speaking to someone on the phone.

Soaked in a bubble bath and her eyes closed, she was happy and seemingly unaffected by the rants of the person on the other end of the line. After listening for a while she let out an audible sigh.

"Jessa, you should've known me better by now. I will be there tomorrow. You girls just have to wait for a little while. I am the one getting married yet I am not stressed about it," her voice sounded tired, hating that she was explaining something like this to a person who should have known her schedule like the back of her palm.

"Yes, I promise to be there tomorrow. You girls can spoil silly by then. I won't utter a single word of complaint," she reassured with a smile even though the other person couldn't see it.

"Alright, I'll keep you posted," she said and listened to her friend again and then hummed one last time. "Take care Jessa," with that, the call was disconnected.

Sara chuckled as she put the phone away but not before checking the time. Seeing as she only had a few hours before Adam came home, she decided to round up her bath and have her surprise ready and set. He wasn't expecting to see her today. Just as Jessa had said, she was supposed to be on a trip with the girls but she canceled it without telling him so she could surprise him.

Adam always said she was predictable, so she had planned well this time. There was no way he would have predicted it this time.

Just as she was about to stand up, she heard the sound of the room's door being opened and footsteps echoed. Sara frowned but after thinking about it, her lips curved up into a smile.

"He must have come home earlier than I anticipated," she muttered to herself. Her plans may not have been flawless, but she knew he would still be surprised just seeing her here.

But her thoughts halted when the sound of a woman's heels clicking against the tiled floor reached her ears along with her voice. What surprised Sara the most were the words the unknown woman uttered.

"I didn't think you would take me here, Adam. I mean you are getting married soon and that woman's clothes are already here waiting for her to move in," the woman said. Sara could vividly visualize her smiling as she spoke.

"Exactly why I have brought you here today. She is not in the city. Besides, I won't have this opportunity again once I marry her," Sara heard Adam say and her heart shattered.

Did he bring his mistress here because…

Her thoughts trailed off when the woman spoke again.

"Fine, after that, we can only do this in the office and hotels," she sighed. "But you can always come to my home," she sweetly offered.

Adam chuckled, not rejecting her offer. "Of course," he said and after that the sound of them kissing followed. "It's my birthday and I want my present now," he said and she giggled.

"Yes, you can have it right now," said the woman.

Meanwhile, Sara, who had drawn close to the door just to hear them properly leaned against the wall. Her heart felt heavy and stuffed. I felt as though it was being stabbed and ripped apart the more she listened. She even poked her head out of the door only to see them undressing each other.

Her knees weakened and eventually gave in. Falling to the floor she placed her clenched fist overhead heart while her left hand supported her body on the floor. The sight of her man with another woman was just so…. Unbearable.

The love sounds coming from the room shattered her over and over again yet she didn't know what to do other than to cry and hope that the pain goes away.

But hearing the voice of another woman calling your man's name and urging him to go faster and harder didn't help any woman feel better.

After some time, and hearing the loudest scream yet from the two tangled in bed, silence followed but her heart kept on breaking. Shattering so many times that she didn't think it would still be in there.

How could something you can't even see hurt so much?

She didn't have the time to contemplate when they started another round. It went on like that until she could no longer find tears in her eyes. They wouldn't fall out even if she forced them to.

The more she heard them, their cries of pleasure, she wondered why she was crying in pain when the man whom she was crying for was having the moment of his life. It had been hours now and it didn't look like they'll be stopping soon.

"You are such a fool, Sara," she uttered as a sardonic smile appeared on her lips.

Yes, she should have known something like this was happening but because she never saw it nor did she want to doubt his loyalty and love, she gave a blind eye to it. She thought that once they were married, all of her "insecurities" would disappear and never resurface again.

He always carried himself like the perfect gentleman, a doting lover and an understanding friend. To her, he was perfect. The only one she wanted, so she foolishly ignored the red flags.

Yet, right here in this room, on that bed that she would soon call her matrimonial bed, was the man she had loved for so long, sleeping with another woman without a care in the world. All because he thought she was out on a trip. They were even making plans for what would unfold after his marriage.

Sara couldn't ignore this.

"You are so pathetic, Sara," she chuckled. "But still…" She stood up, looked for a towel to wrap around her body. She then walked over to the faucet, washed her hands and poured water on her face. "He doesn't deserve you. No one does," she spoke to her own reflection on the mirror.

Fetching the water on her palms again, she poured it on her face, washing away the tears. Opening her eyes again, all evidence of pain in them was gone. Tilting her head from side to side, she wanted to make sure her eyes weren't swollen. She didn't want to give the satisfaction of seeing her miserable.

Luckily, they weren't swollen and she smiled to reassure herself that everything was going to be okay.

After a few more words of self encouragement, she picked up her phone beside the tub and then left the bathroom with only a towel on her body.
