Chapter 18: I'm Sorry, Wes

I wanted to trust the kids. They have never let me down when it comes to telling people about our lives. I didn’t want to start hounding them with questions about their day with Wes, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that yesterday could be the start of our downfall.

“Lucy, you need to relax. Your day off was supposed to relax you and you look more wound up than usual,” Serena said, helping me fold clothes.

Screw it, if I’m going to hound anyone, it’s going to be Serena.

“Did you guys tell Wes anything?” I asked.

Serena shook her head. “Did he say anything to you?”

“No and I don’t want him to,” I said. “I don’t want him saying or asking anything about us.”

“I know I’m just the middle sister in this family, but I’m going to keep giving you this advice until you listen to me.” Serena said, “You’re lying to the guy you are starting to like. I can’t tell you what to do, but if you keep lying to him, then you’re going to really lose him one day.”
