"The second limitation is the magic attribute. It works the same as the element, but there is a little difference that is very important and that is that you can actually acquire an attribute this way, if your magic doesn't have one yet."
A magic attribute.
It is a very rare condition of magic where it gains an additional boost, you could say. It usually awakens after a traumatic experience, or, as it was already said, by absorbing a beast soul. Though, there is a very big difference between the two.
It needn't be said that the awakening through the emotional way will awaken a stronger attribute. The attribute will also gain the ability of what the person in question needed the most at the time.
For example, a person is being hunted by a beast and is exhausted from running and just can't escape. When almost all hope is lost, the person's magic particles will gain a speed attribute. Thus, the person would gain speed by enhancing themselves with their element magic particles. Though, this is not the case most of the time, since a person needs an innate talent for the attribute to awaken.
Also, it doesn't exactly awaken in one second, an attribute needs at least a year to be ready for use, since that is usually the time it takes for a person to get used to nature magic particles and construct the spell foundation by controlling them.
That's why it is a topic that is only taught from the second year up in the magic practice class, since the first year is used as a prelude for the more advanced techniques, which is also one of the reasons why the magic theory class is only once a week in the second and third year.
"Naturally, the next we have to take into account of having a magic avatar is the strength of your mind. Since you're basically absorbing a soul of a beast, you've got to have a strong willpower, otherwise the beast soul will just take over your mind, and you will go berserk, or just act like the beast according to its instincts."
"Last but not least, beast souls only appear from beasts of the Zaktzerite rank and higher, since there is a big change that happens from that point of beast core evolution, which is the soul evolution, the reason why a beast soul exists in the first place. The beasts gain an increase in intelligence. This is the reason this is considered to be the most powerful evolution."
The boys just quietly sucked in all the information into their brains like black holes.
"…And that would be everything for today, see you in our next class!" Instructor Rustica said.
The boys got up from their seats along with Frederick and just went to their next class – the general knowledge class.
When the classes ended for the day, the boys decided to explore the school campus a little, since they were bored from always sitting in their room. After all, computers and phones didn't exist here, which was a big culture shock, not having such devices always at hand.
They went outside and walked in the calming park in the middle of the triangle when they noticed a big crowd gathered in the very middle, right next to the arena.
The boys decided to check it out, since they didn't have anything to do. Though, they had to somehow get through the crowd to get to see even a thing, so they pushed a lot of people out of the way, who immediately wanted to complain, but stopped once they remembered that they were the humans who came in with the king's brother.
Along the way to the center, they heard some bits and pieces of information from the students talking near them.
"Did you hear?" One of the students from the crowd asked.
"What?" Another one answered.
"Apparently, a first year challenged a third year student to a duel."
"Woah, how did that happen?"
"From what I heard, the first year student, a girl, challenged the boy because she wants to free herself from her engagement with him."
"Will that help though? Even if she won, they wouldn't really break it out of nowhere."
"Well, I don't know what she's thinking about, but I think it would just cause more discord between them. She should just accept her fate."
When the boys got to the center, they saw two silhouettes standing in the middle of the arena, one boy and one girl.
The girl had brown hair and brown eyes that stared fiercely at the person in front of her.
On the other hand, the boy was looking kind of irritated. He was just standing there with his lips twitching every now and then. He also had brown hair, but his eyes were shining grey.
"Why are you doing this, Beatrice Miser?" The boy asked.
The girl, Beatrice, didn't answer as she just continued to stare at the boy.
"Haah, whatever, just know that you have no chance of winning whatsoever." He gave up on talking to her, since he knew her personality very well and just got into a fighting stance.
A person appeared a short distance away from the two students and spoke up.
"What is the wager for this duel?"
"If I win, Rhikahn Confibula will break off his engagement with me." The girl finally spoke a line that looked as if it was practiced in her head a few hundred times.
"What about you Rhikahn Confibula?" The person asked.
"I have nothing to add…" He sighed.
"Alright, do both parties agree to this duel?"
"Yes." Both Beatrice and Rhikahn spoke simetaneously.
"Then… duel, start!" The person spoke and disappeared without a trace.
Not waiting for the boy to make a move, the Beatrice immediately started gathering nature magic particles in her hand as fast as she could. She made a ball shape in 10 seconds and covered it with her element magic particles, creating a fireball, and then throwing it at the boy.
Rhikahn just looked at the ball coming right at his face with a calm expression before swatting it as if it was a bug.
*Poof*
The fireball exploded a few meter to the side of Rhikahn, who just stared ahead.
"You should really give up. I know you have been learning magic since you were 10 years old, but you still don't stand a chance against me." He spoke.
Beatrice just gritted her teeth and out of nowhere, a spear appeared in her hands. She then charged at Rhikahn with fireballs exploding beneath the soles of her feet to boost herself. In a second, she closed the 10 meter distance and appeared in front of the boy, whose eyebrows shot up in surprise at the sudden attack.
Still, the boy didn't panic and just prepared himself to throw a punch right as Beatrice thrust her spear toward Rhikahn chest.
Both the spear and the fist collided and Beatrice didn't even last a second before she was thrown almost twenty meters backward rolling on the ground.
"Cough… cough…" She coughed a couple of times and tried to breathe.
"Just give up." Everyone heard Rhikahn voice, who just suddenly appeared in front of Beatrice with her, now broken, spear in hand, pointing right at her throat.
Beatrice just gritted her teeth before looking down and saying in a shaky voice.
"I… I give up…"
