Elemental Hero

Daniel Marleigh couldn't concentrate in class. All he could think about the strange boy at the window. He couldn't help but wonder whether he was looking at him. He stared out of the window. He started to realise the strange things that were happening to him since the day he turned 15.

"Daniel, can you tell me the answer to this question?" asked Mrs Carmen. Daniel sighed and looked up. He despised Mrs Carmen. He had a really good feeling she secretly hated him. She was staring at him with her piercing black eyes. Daniel had no clue what the answer to the question was. He wasn't very good at sciene anyway. It was something about sodium carbonate.

After a few seconds, everyone's eyes were on him. Everyone knew the answer to the question. Daniel stared at the screen. A kid called Conor started whispering the answer to him. But he couldn't concentrate. He felt as if he was going to collapse. The teacher started to say something but she was interrupted by the sound of the knock on the door. Daniel was saved.

Daniel saw Mrs Carmen open the door and smile. He instantly recognised that smile. She did it everytime she met someone knew. But Daniel wasn't prepared for the the 2 people that entered the room. The two figures walked into the classroom. One of them was the headmaster. His name was Mr Rosen. Daniel was sure he was one of the tallest man on planet Earth. And the second figure was the same boy from before. He stared straight ahead, emotionless. "Hello class e4, this is..."

"Igor" the boy replied. He had an emotionless voice. "Yes" replied the headmaster. "He will be staying with you for a week, in Dorm 13. The headmaster hurried out of the room. Daniel was creeped out and surprised. Dorm 13 was his dorm. Was this a coincidence? He wasn't expecting this. He knew something was going on. This couldn't have been a coinsidence.

Daniel felt as if the headmaster felt uncomfortable talking to Igor. All the headache and drowsiness disappeared. He was suddenly wide awake. He looked at Igor's facial features. He was in uniform but he had the mark on his forehead and the chain on his neck. Daniel was pretty sure any find of accessory wasn't allowed in Oakleaf Boarding School. It was as if the boy had celestial powers which gave him powers over everyone else. Daniel could see all the other kids looking at Igor too.

"Well, hello Igor, you can go sit next to Mia over there. She pointed to the seat on the far right hand side. Daniel watched as Igor slowly walked the his seat. The rest of the day was quite boring. Igor did nothing unusual. Finally, it was night time. Daniel was scared for his life. He knew he couldn't sleep.

Time: 12:00am :

Daniel sat up. He couldn't get to sleep. He knew this was going to happen. He stared ahead into the darkness thinking about everything. Suddenly, for a few seconds, he thought he could see the other side of the room very clearly, like daytime. Daniel was shaken in surpise. He thought he was hallucinating and was about to go back to sleep when he heard a sound coming from the staircase.

Daniel suddenly knew something was wrong. He had to find out what it was. He crept out of the room, trying not to wake up the others. he climbed down the stairs. He knew them so well, he didn't need to see to know where he was going. He knew he was taking a big risk. If any of the guards of the headmaster found out, he would be severely punished.

Daniel saw a light from outside. He opened the door. It was Igor. "I knew you would come, your senses are strong." he said in a young but mature voice. Daniel walked over to the boy sitting down on the stairs. "What are you doing here?" he asked Igor. He wasn't afraid of him. He had a feeling that the boy wasn't dangerous. "To talk to you" Igor replied calmly. "I wanted to tell you something and your probably not going to believe me but it's my job to prove to you that I'm right."

Daniel had a bad feeling about this. He knew he didn't fit in. "I'm all ears" he managed to say with a straight face. But he knew the news was going to change his life forever. "Your an elemental hero, Daniel" said Igor and his eyes started glowing a dark grey...
