"Jean's vital signs are stable, and her life is not in danger, but her consciousness remains weak, and we cannot determine when she will regain consciousness."
"Scott's life signs are weak, and he needs to be placed in the life capsule for treatment. However, he is out of immediate danger, which is fortunate."
In the underground base, within the medical area and the white room, numerous X-Men were gathered. Rogue Anna, Iceman, Colossus, and Shadowcat were all present.
Standing before them all was Professor X, his expression grave. Behind him lay Jean and Scott, both resting quietly on mobile beds.
Anna glanced at the two figures on the hospital beds, a mix of surprise at Jean's resurrection and concern for Scott's condition evident in her expression. "Professor, why is Jean..."
But she faltered, choosing not to voice her question about Scott's fate.
Similar thoughts weighed on the minds of most present X-Men. After all, Jean and Scott had been deeply in love. Everyone knew how much Scott cared for Jean.
Yet, nobody anticipated that upon Jean's sudden return to life after three years, her first action would be to harm Scott.
Professor X sighed softly. "I hope you don't hold Jean responsible for this. It was not her intention, but rather an instinctual reaction."
"Instinct?" Iceman and the others looked puzzled.
Professor X nodded, echoing Carl's speculation and adding his own insights.
He explained that three years ago, Jean had reached her breaking point and died at the bottom of the lake with severe injuries. Due to the connection between her abilities and Scott's, her revival near the lake awakened her instinct, driving her to absorb his energy to sustain herself.
Several individuals exchanged bewildered glances, surprised that the tragedy stemmed from Jean's primal need.
Professor X continued gently, "Fortunately, Carl and the others intervened in time, preventing further harm."
"So, when Jean wakes up, let's refrain from discussing this matter and avoid provoking her."
"We understand."
"Alright, everyone, return to your tasks. Carl, please assist in moving Scott to the life capsule."
"Of course."
With that, Professor X dismissed the group, leaving Carl to aid in Scott's relocation.
As they walked down the corridor, Carl pushed the hospital bed while Professor X accompanied in his wheelchair, speaking softly.
"Carl, Orolo and the others mentioned that when you rescued Scott, another powerful energy surged."
Carl nodded. "Yes, Professor. Despite my swift arrival at the lake, Jean's unintentional release of Psychokinesis was overpowering. I couldn't even approach."
"The situation was dire, and had we been even slightly delayed, Mr. Scott might have been consumed entirely."
"Just as I relentlessly attempted to breach the shield of Psychokinesis, pushing the limits of my abilities to their explosive brink, my power underwent a transformation, manifesting as a radiant golden energy."
"This newfound power was formidable, brimming with explosive potential, ultimately shattering Miss Jean's Psychokinesis shield, awakening her consciousness."
Professor X spoke softly, "Thank you, Carl. Without your intervention, Scott would have died this time."
Carl shook his head, "Please, Professor, don't say that. If it weren't for Mr. Scott bringing me to Xavier School, I might have ended up as a laboratory experiment."
"And if it weren't for the meticulous guidance of the professors and teachers here, I wouldn't have been able to master my abilities so swiftly."
"As the saying goes in the East, 'Every cause has its effect, every effect has its cause.'"
Carl's words may have seemed casual, but they held weight. Everything was interconnected, a series of tasks and consequences.
Professor X was visibly reassured by Carl's words, a smile gracing his lips. "I didn't expect you to understand the concept of cause and effect, Carl."
"Well... mostly because there was a time in my past when I had a great fascination with Eastern Kungfu and delved into various miscellaneous books." Carl offered a casual excuse.
At that moment, Professor X offered a cautionary reminder, "But Carl, you must be mindful. While the evolution of your X Gene ability has undoubtedly enhanced your strength, it may not necessarily be entirely beneficial."
"Oh? Professor, what do you mean?" Carl inquired, pausing momentarily.
Professor X seemed to recall something and sighed softly, "Typically, after a mutant undergoes awakening, their abilities remain relatively fixed for the rest of their lives."
"After some years of development, they may experience further enhancements or develop auxiliary abilities, but these are usually extensions of their original powers."
"However, there are exceptions to this rule."
"For instance, there was a Gamma-level mutant whose abilities were initially unstable. But when faced with a life-threatening situation, their powers underwent a dramatic evolution."
"Originally, their ability was limited to controlling gravitational forces within a few meters, allowing them to manipulate objects the size of a television set, at best."
"But after the evolution, they gained mastery over the Earth's gravitational field within a certain radius. They could amplify gravity a hundredfold or even achieve flight."
"It was truly remarkable."
"This drastic change drove them to madness, leading them to commit crimes like bank robberies and raids on police headquarters, exploiting their newfound power."
"Ordinary projectiles like cannonballs or bullets couldn't even approach them within a hundred-meter radius. They had the power to upheave the very earth within their vicinity, sweeping aside anything in their path."
"At that moment, the Military side deployed two formidable Mutants from their military ranks, but even they couldn't stand against the enemies and were slain."
"Hence, officials were dispatched to the school."
"Per the initial agreement, it fell upon us to intervene."
"However, both Scott and Orolo were already on a mission outside, so I had to hasten there."
"Unfortunately, before my arrival, the Mutant stood before everyone, undergoing visible rapid aging, experiencing decades within a mere minute."
"Ultimately, reduced to mere ashes."
"…"
