Chapter 93: The Birth of Iron Man
"It's done, it really is him!"
In Thor's study, a 14-year-old mixed-race girl with long dark brown hair clapped her hands excitedly in front of the computer screen.
The screen displayed a video call between Obadiah and the terrorists.
"With this, he can't avoid the consequences. We can send him to face justice tomorrow!"
Thor turned to look at her.
"Uh, what's wrong?"
Natalia explained, "If it was just about sending that guy to jail, it wouldn't be so complicated.
She was aware of the relationship between Thor and Kingpin. With Kingpin's influence, Stark wouldn't be able to act. Killing a secondary shareholder is trivial compared to that. Even the FBI has infiltrated most of his operations.
This mixed-race girl is Daisy Johnson, who was brought to S.H.I.E.L.D. more than a decade ago. Her current name is Skye. Due to her exceptional hacking skills and other talents, she is already a Level 7 agent at such a young age.
In a few years, she might become the youngest Level 10 agent in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s history.
Currently, Skye, still relatively new, hesitated and said, "But according to protocol, such important information should be reported to higher authorities..."
"No problem," Natalia said, flipping her hair. "I'm a Level 10 agent; you can report to me."
Thor looked at Natalia in surprise, and she winked back.
At a base in Afghanistan, the terrorist leader, after ending the video call, looked at the surveillance feed showing Stark's progress and grew enraged.
I asked you to build missiles, not whatever this is!
Even though he hadn't read the manuals, he knew missiles were supposed to be round!
"Boom!"
He kicked open the cave door and greeted Stark with a "friendly" message, then issued an ultimatum: "I want to see results by tomorrow. Either prepare the missiles for me or the whole world will witness your execution live!"
He kicked the door once more, arrogantly walked out of the cave, leaving two engineers staring at each other.
"I said, should we make a dummy to deceive them?"
Ethan said weakly, "Otherwise, they'll notice something's wrong later."
Stark hesitated and shook his head. "No time. Even if we could delay until tomorrow, it won't help. Our only hope is to finish the armor quickly and teach those bastards a lesson!"
"You're right!"
‒‒‒‒‒
The two worked faster, quickly assembling various parts.
Just as they neared completion, the terrorist leader became suspicious.
Why does this look less like a missile and more like something else?
He ordered his men to check on Stark and Ethan...
Two soldiers approached the door, knocked a few times, and pushed it open.
"Boom..."
The bomb installed on the door exploded, causing chaos throughout the base. The terrorist leader quickly gathered a large group and headed to Stark's cave.
At this moment, Stark had only one step left. The armor was assembled; he just needed to complete the final progress bar to activate it.
The challenge was finishing it in time...
The sound of footsteps grew louder as the terrorists rushed towards the cave entrance.
Ethan glanced at the slow progress bar, gritted his teeth, and grabbed the AK dropped by a terrorist.
"Wait, Ethan, what are you doing? Don't be reckless; follow the plan!" Stark yelled.
Ethan shook his head. "There's no time. Besides, this is my plan!"
He raised the AK, shouted wildly, and charged towards the door.
"Don't!"
Stark yelled, but he was immobilized inside the suit.
Gunfire erupted and ceased quickly.
At that moment, the progress bar finally reached the end, and the suit's systems activated...
When the terrorists entered the innermost lab, Stark was gone, replaced by a metallic figure in the cave.
"Chug chug"
Fear of the unknown gripped the terrorists, and they began shooting immediately.
The bullets sparked off the armor without any effect.
And then, Stark's counterattack began.
The world's first Iron Man armor, Mark One, was officially unveiled!
