Chapter 87: The Death of Supergiant

The cost of confronting Thanos had been steep, and Thor's divine power took a week to fully recover.

During these days, Thor had kept a low profile, avoiding any further provocations. After all, Thanos was seething with anger, and Thor had no idea what traps might await him if he acted recklessly.

The Black Order watched intently, with Corvus Glaive still wearing a plaster cast on his hand, an incongruous sight.

At this moment, Thanos appeared unscathed. He did not need to act directly and spoke with an air of detachment.

"I knew you would come again."

The last time they met, they had clashed without much opportunity for conversation. Now, they had a chance to greet each other properly.

"Crown Prince of Asgard, son of Odin, your strength exceeds my expectations. However, you are still far behind your father. No matter how great your potential, it remains mere potential until it is realized as true power."

Thanos narrowed his eyes, his words cutting sharply.

"Really?" Thor was eager to engage in conversation. "I know you as well, Thanos, the butcher warlord, the survivor of Titan's destruction. It's fortunate for you that you survived, or the Titans would be extinct."

Thor's words were venomous.

Thanos visibly stiffened, taking a deep breath to control his anger. He replied, "That is precisely why I am here. My goal is to prevent the tragedy of Titan from being repeated across the entire universe!"

"Through slaughter?" Thor smirked. While he was no saint, he at least had reasons for his actions and did not kill without cause.

"This is mercy! You insignificant beings cannot comprehend the efforts of those greater than you!"

Ebony Maw shouted loudly. With Thanos by his side, he felt emboldened and no longer appeared as timid as before.

Thanos cracked his neck and picked up the Overlord's Skyblade, speaking calmly, "Do not worry. Even though you have offended me, I will spare the ordinary people of Asgard. However, you will not be so fortunate."

He raised his blade and charged forward, confident of victory. He intended to ensure his opponent had no chance to use the Tesseract.

Excitement filled Thanos' heart at the thought of obtaining his first Infinity Gem. As a token of appreciation for Thor bringing it to him, he planned to give him a fitting death.

"Then… bring it on!"

Thor closed his eyes and raised Mjölnir with a powerful roar—

"For Asgard!"

His body expanded, and Thor, who was originally 1.9 meters tall, now stood over 2 meters, matching Thanos in height and even more formidable in stature.

The Overlord's Skyblade managed to block Mjölnir's iconic attack, but the immense force from the strike left Thanos dazed.

The Black Order quickly recognized the problem and rushed to assist. Ebony Maw, the fastest among them, used telekinesis to pull several steel chains from the ground in an attempt to bind Thor. However, the chains vanished as soon as they touched Thor.

If even the Ancient One's magic could not affect Thor, how could Ebony Maw's powers have any effect?

Ebony Maw attempted to distract Thor by throwing Proxima Midnight at him.

Meanwhile, Supergiant, the remaining member of the Black Order, charged forward in a frenzied assault...

Thor raised Mjölnir and brought it down.
