V2 Chapter 5 The truth and Plan

The following morning we made our way to the German High Command and I infiltrated the gala to get information from Dr Maru.

But my plan was foiled as Diana entered the venue distracting me and causing Dr. Maru to leave me behind as I saw her ready to attack I quickly stepped in to stop her.

I didn't want all diplomacy to fail because of our actions before we had any evidence, I somewhat regretted my decision.

As soon as we left the ballroom we saw a shell being fired from the castle, Diana and I followed its trajectory and I asked others to follow Ludendorff and send a signal if they found the base.

When we reached the location of impact Veld was no more.

Diana left the place in a rage and I followed her towards the smoke signal given by our partners.

I soon reached a military airstrip and I saw the bombs being moved around I followed Diana's train and soon reached the command room and saw her standing in front of Ludendorff impaled in the ground with her sword.

She looked around and asked me

"Why haven't they stopped after I killed him? You kill the God of war, you stop the war."(Diana)

"I don't know, Diana. We have to stop them from succeeding."(Steve)

"But why are they still fighting?"(Diana)

"I don't know. Maybe there was no Ares, maybe people aren't always good, maybe it was just humans doing it themselves."(Steve)

"They were killing each other, people they can't see."(Diana)

  "We have to go now."(Steve)

I said, but she didn't move

"My mother was right. They don't deserve our help, Steve."(Diana)

"Maybe we don't, but even if that is the case I will do what I believe is right and I already made my choice."(Steve)

I knew her faith was broken, but I didn't have the time to help her.

'I had hoped Ares was real, that there was one bad guy to blame.

'But I knew enough about wars and humans to know the horrors they could unleash upon their own kind.'

'I will do what I have to do, even if I have to do it alone.'

So I left her there and made my way to the others.

We came to know of their plan to bomb London with gas by looking at the flight plan.

I saw the big aircraft in the distance and I knew it was the one with the cargo.

  "What if it reaches London?"(Steve)

"Everyone in 50 sq miles is dead."(Extra no 1)

"If we stop it from taking flight?"(Steve)

"Same thing happens here, it is on a timer."(Extra no 1)

"Is the gas flammable?"(Steve)

"It's hydrogen-based, so yeah."(Extra no 1)

"Clear my way to the plane."(Steve)

"You plan to-"

"Yeah, I plan fireworks before the victory celebration."(Steve)

As we made our way to the plane we took out the guards and moving I came across Dr Maru escaping I looked at her and let her go.

"Why are you letting me go?"

"I don't know, I just felt pity that you did this, I mean you are a genius unlike me who only knows how to destroy."(Steve)

"So what?"

"Think about it, if instead of making something like this, you made something that saved people but I don't know."(Steve)

I said as I moved forward and joined with the others near the strip we heard a loud boom in the distance and I saw Diana flung near me.

"Oh, My GOd! What are we gonna do?"(Extra no 2)

"If that's who I think it is. There's not much we can do."(Steve)

"But we can stop that plane."(Steve)

"You clear the area and the airstrip, I'll be right back."(Steve)

I made my way toward Diana.

"I have to go."(Steve)

"What are you saying?"(Diana)

"I wish we had more time."(Steve)

"Whatever it is, I can do it, let me do it."(Diana)

"No, it has to be me. I can save today, you can save the world and Ares is kind of out of my league."(Steve)

"What? What are you saying?"(Diana)

I realized that she couldn't hear me she was probably reading my face and lips.

So it gave me the courage to say what I had been holding back.

"I love you."(Steve)

'I probably did since the time I talked to you on the boat.'

but I can't stop now

'Time to be the Hero.'
